So what team would we rather play first?

Denver might be the easiest but we can't play them first. We'd have to play Pittsburgh or Cincy before that happens. Am I missing something here.. with the order?

Pats get the lowest remaining seed after WC weekend.

So, if Denver beats Pitt and Houston beats Cinci, then Denver (the 4 seed) comes to Foxboro and Houston (the 3 seed) goes to Baltimore.

The only team from WC weekend that the Pats cannot possibly face next week is Houston.

Not really. The question was who do we want to play first? Being that Bengals are the 6 seed and Steelers are the 5th, its impossible to play Denver first. So how would that work out?

But my response was wrong....

You can play Denver first if Denver and Texans win.

True. I honestly see Cincy as the easiest team though, Denver maybe but I cant see Cincy coming and beating us.

I doubt Denver beats Pitt though unfortunately but I'd like to knock the Steelers out of the playoffs. Pay them back for the stolen Gronk TD back at mustard stadium.

last year I was wanting the Jets to knock off the Colts as I was sure we would crush them again. Needless to say I no longer wish for any particular opponent. I'll take whoevers left standing, hopefully beat up lol.

actually it's possible

edit...ok disregard, I see you've been given the facts by Tedy

Lol yes, my mistake. But you as might as well say its impossbile cause Denver wont beat Pittsburgh and we know it Lol. Its definately ideal but the odds of that happening are small.

I don't care....just let our opponent be the team that comes off a wildcard round win in a 45-42 game that went into 4 OTs .....

You know how many times I heard that its impossible for Denver to win this year?

Also, when will people stop saying stuff like this?

St. louis beat NO
Buffalo Beat NE
KC beat GB

all "impossible" wins.

The four possible outcomes:

Texans beat Bengals, Steelers beat Broncos: we play the Steelers
Texans beat Bengals, Broncos beat Steelers: we play the Broncos
Bengals beat Texans, Steelers beat Broncos: we play the Bengals
Bengals beat Texans, Broncos beat Steelers: we play the Bengals

Unfortunately, the first scenario is probably the most likely.

The easiest way to remember it is probably as follows: If the Bengals win, that's who we play. If the Texans win, we play the winner of Steelers/Broncos.

Yeah true. I want Pittsburgh though.

I'd rather have them first over Baltimore. Glad Baltimore swept that series.

Denver in division game then Cinci in AFCCG works for me.

Edit: oops; two posters point out below this won't happen. But as someone else points out, could happen the other way around. Never mind. ;)

That can't happen, see above post. If the Bengals win this weekend, we play them next weekend.

What is theoretically possible:

Bengals beat Houston, then play us in the divisional round

Broncos beat the Steelers, then beat the Ravens, then play us in the AFCCG

So our path to the SB could theoretically go through the Bengals followed by the Broncos, but that would require the Broncos to win two games that I doubt they can win. Could maybe see them beating the Steelers at Mile High, but definitely not Baltimore in Baltimore

Interesting to note that the Pats have had the #1 seed 3 times in their history....

2003 against the Titans #5
2007 against the Jaguars #5
2010 against the Jets #6

out of those opponents, there were 2 #5 seeds and 1 #6 seed which obviously points to the fact that a road team has won AT LEAST one of those Wildcard games before heading into NE ..... So expect Pittsburgh or Cincinnati to be victorious this sunday if this short trend holds up.

I don't think anyone said "impossible" regarding a Denver victory over Pittsburgh, just that it's a real stretch.

So, if we were in our local pub and had had a few, I'd reach into my wallet, slap a $100 on the bar and say, "OK, I heard ya, so put your money where your mouth is. Straight up, I'm taking the Steelers, are you taking the Broncos? Bartender holds the cash until the game is over. Are you in or not?" :)

Call me crazy, but to me the Steelers-Broncos game is a tossup. Aside from Roethlisberger's high ankle sprain resulting in erratic passes and limiting his mobility Pittsburgh is going to be without Rashard Mendenhall, Ryan Clark, and Maurkice Pouncey. Granted the Broncos are without Brian Dawkins, but the injury situation certainly favors Denver, and they also have the advantage of being more acclimated to that mile high air.

I'm not ready to say Denver will win this game; I'm just saying it's not a foregone conclusion that the Steelers will win - especially if any of their players are discounting the Broncos and looking ahead to playing the Ravens or Pats.

bengals or denver

don't want to face pitt...

I fear no one in the AFC.
I fear no one in the NFC.
There are a couple NFC teams I would greatly prefer to not have to face though. :)

I don't see us being one and done this year. We will reach the AFCG.

On the other hand, i can see the giants upsetting the packers.
