official statement
Statement from Patriots V.P. of Player Personnel Scott Pioli: "I am very honored to be granted the opportunity to discuss a potential position with the New York Giants. I have tremendous respect for the Kraft family, the Mara family, the Tisch family and the Giants organization. After careful consideration, and for personal reasons, I am continuing in my current role with the New England Patriots."

Great news. I was worried that he may take another job, although I never expected him to go to NY despite the press hype. His statement makes me feel at ease.

So, it's possible that the Giants themselves may have 'leaked' this non-story to the press.

Thank you Scott!!!! What a relief! I'm so sick of everyone raiding our staff!

Amen. I guess the expression "what price success" sums it up. I hope the Krafts have promoted and are paying Pioli what he's worth. Sounds like they are.

I just read it on the Giants Board as well. Great News!

I have such respect for Pioli. How many of us could resist the chance to go for the glory with arguably the highest-profile job in our profession? SP has his feet on the ground more surely than anyone I can think of in sports. He has a good thing going here, partnerships and friendships and team success. Kudos to him for valuing it and recognizing how exceptional such a situation is.

According to newsflash on espn/boston Felger show.

Scott Pioli has turned down request from the Giants for interviews for GM position.

WAHOOOOO!!!! :singing: :rocker:
he didnt turn it down read the statement more closely .i wish he did.

Wow, all I can say is he is loyal and I appreciate all that he is done and it is spectacular that he will continue on here. As much critisicm the Pats FO has got this season, its very clear that the right decisions were made.

Just heard a report that the reason that Pioli didn't want the Giants jobs is that he didn't want to be separated from BB.

Looks like these two plan on finishing their careers together.

Who wants to put money Pioli now getting criticized in the media for not talking to the Giants, you know, since NY is the center of the universe and all...

I'd put a $50 on it that in the next couple days you'll hear something about how "foolish" it was to not even go listen.

You are grasping at straws to continue to try to make controversy. He doesn't want the job. The act of making a "statement" is more of a tell tale sign, than the words that make up the statement.

We've had alleged Pats fans post here that NYC is the center of intelligence for the WORLD!!!

As if.

My post was written before the statement was released.

I see your point..however, SP is indeed a man of integrity and no way would he issue such a statement only to turn around and take the job in a month or so.

I guess when all jobs are filled then we don't worry at all, at least until next year.

Yes, he did turn it down. How do you figure otherwise?
