I have no idea what the point is but it's amazing they averaged 7 sacks against the Raiders.

FWIW here's where those teams rank in sacks allowed :

Oakland : 32
KC : 22
Seattle : 20
Pittsburgh : 9
SF : 29
Cleveland : 23
Denver : 25
St. Louis : 4
Buffalo : 28
Baltimore : 11
Cincy : 6
Arizona : 10
Tenessee : 30

wow 21 sacks against some of the best olines in the NFL not bad. THose being KC Seattle and Denver. Sure is alot of games in there to be having 4 n 5 sacks wow.

Do you comprehend?

21 sacks versus the 22d, 25th, and 20th ranked offenses in regards to passing.

one better 45 against the 31st, 25th, 22d, and 20th

:bricks:

There are only 32 teams in the league you know

WTF does this have to do with anything? Yeah, we didn't record a sack versus the Titans. And we only beat them 40-7. Boo hoo. The Titans also didn't record a first down in that game until midway through the third quarter.

61 sacks while our best pass rusher missed 25% of the season, our 2nd best pass rusher missed 19% of the season and our best DL pass rusher missed 37% of the season. Too bad for you all those guys are back healthy now. Had we been a bit healthier, we probably would have broken the '85 Bears record for most sacks in a season.

That averages the 19th best (13th worst) OL faced.

Look, the Chargers will get their sacks. Fine, whatever. We're going to punt some drives. What matters is that it's not more than about 3 times and that Brady holds onto the ball. No fumbles. No INTs while throwing to get rid of the ball. Take the sack, punt, try again.

You know, the Bolts contributed to those rankings.

The Bears played much tougher teams than your girls in sand diego did :D

Belichick says Sacks are overrated and He's right as rain. Add up the number of fumbles, INTs, 3rd and didn't make its, and 4th and didn't make its, and you have a much more reliable measure of a Defense. All are turnovers . so for that matter is th epunt but that is included in the 3rd and didn't make it figures.

Sacks, pressured incompletions, PDs and INTs when totaled are a much better measure of a pass defense, than an outlandish sack total. Sacks may stop a drive. Fumble INTs definitely do. PDs of the tip variety have a much higher probability of generating an INT and turnover, than a sack.

Sixty one sacks pumped up by 14 against the hapless Raiders alone, doesn't mean as much. Beside the Pats have 47 sacks themselves and play a read-and-react before pass rushing scheme. That statistic is probably just as, if not more spectacular, if you consider it.

Duh.

But they only contributed 1 out of 16 games. By the way they really rank tied for 20/21 in opponents sacks faced because I forgot to factor in their AFCW opponents twice.

Look, we know the Charger pass rush is good. Allright ? But even with the numbers from SD subtracted they haven't exactly faced the top OL in the league most weeks.

I don't get the fascination with sacks, they are an over-rated stats when related to wins.

Bottom line:

The Chargers allowed opposing teams to throw for about 200 yards a game, with 19 TD to 16 Int and a 76.6 QB Rating.

The Patriots allowed opposing teams to throw for about 200 yards a game, with 10 TD to 22 Int and a 66.1 QB Rating (#2 in NFL behind Baltimore).

The Chargers also allowed a little over 100 rushing yards a game, 4.2 Yards/rush and 13 rushing TD.

The Patriots allowed a little under 95 rushing yards a game, 3.9 Yards/Rush and 11 rushing TD.

The Chargers allowed opponents to score 18.9 points per game.

The Patriots allowed opponents to score 14.8 points per game (#2 behind Baltimore).

It is clear which defense is better.

SD has an explosive offense, bu this game comes down to defending Tomlinson, who is a special player who can control a game. If they do that, their defense will keep SD from putting up huge numbers.

Having Tom Brady on the Patriots means you have to feel pretty comfortable about the Pats scoring some points.

Granted, SD is well rested and has the advantage of playing at home, but with the Pats peaking at the right time I like their chances.

You know what Pats fans. You will see our sack team in action on sunday. Then you can see if we are overrated like most of you guys think or we can play. Even though most of you guys can even think of the possibility West coast football does exist and we are just as much fans of our team as you are of yours. We have more talent on both sides of the ball. You have a SB MVP and a great coach. Lets find out which one will win out on sunday.

Who's your wideout again? LOL.

Reche "Bolt Reject" Caldwell.

better than Eric 659yds 0td parker and kennan 437 yd o td mccardell :D

Yeah, it's a miracle we have the top scoring offense in the league. How did we, with such crappy WRs, average 42 points scored in 2 games versus Denver, while you managed 7 against the Broncos?

Well, if you factor in the Chargers being 1/16 (6.25%) of their opponents' schedule (2/16 and 12.5% for divisional foes), they have sacked almost every opponent more than their season average.

19.4% of the Raiders sack allowed came in 2 games versus the Chargers.

26.8% of the Chiefs total.

14.2% of the Niners total.

11.7% of Baltimore's total.

12.9% of Denver's total.

10.2% of Pittsburgh's total.

So you can't just say the Bolts faced teams that gave up alot of sacks. A disproportionate number of our opponents' sacks came against us. Translation: We have a very good pass rush.

I agree that sacks are not the sole defensive statistic that matters. But it's much harder for a team to convert a first down after being sacked.
