Small note to watch...

Devin mccourty has been playing safety already today. New position?

Re: Small note to watch...

He hasn't looked bad. Maybe Bill wants him in a position to better utilize his ball skills? He did take one bad angle and missed a tackle, but a few others were there as well. Thats the only negative I've noticed.

The fact that Molden or whoever 27 is, is playing corner terrifies me. He's coming from 10-15 yards out to make every tackle, when he isn't completely wiffing. I've seen him miss about 4 so far.

It looks like the MAJOR momentum switch occurred when McCourty switched to Safety. He and Pat Chung looked like a decent tandem. Sterling Moore made the switch look even better. Going forward, perhaps they found something! Thoughts?

still not sure if we will see this in the playoffs at all..but the D can't get any worse so why not

Loved it. He tackles well. IMHO he looked much better at safety.

Agreed, but 3 straight shut out quarters to end a game hasn't happened all season till now. Looked like once they settled into the new defense ( McCourty at safety ) that things appeared to work very well.

Yeah, I thought McCourty was better today. Although the Bills would have scored their first TD over him if Fitzpatrick had thrown better ball.

They also got Nate Jones out of the slot corer, and replaced him with Edelman.

I would rather see McCourty get his act together playing CB. Chung and Moore at safety moving forward seems solid to me. Also, Ihedigbo hasn't been abysmal. He's good for depth at the position.

Make no mistake....defense, especially secondary is still like swiss cheese...

turnovers will help to cover up the lack of defensive consistency...

but the gameplan for the pats will continue to be outscoring the opponents to force opposing teams to a more one-dimensional approach....

McCourty had his best game of the season. If he can be solid at Safety, leave him there. Our other options at CB most likely won't play significantly worse than how Devin was playing in recent weeks.

Moulden should be shown the door...

granted McCourty is healthy

It did appear that the turning point was when they switched him to deep safety.

that penalty on him was complete bull****. Hitting a defensless WR? LOL

He ran right into him, didn't even drop a shoulder.

It's mind boggling how abysmal our secondary is when you take into account how many early draft picks we've used throughout the last few years.

I was wondering where he was on the field and at one point thought he might be out of the game. Great way to hide him BB. I think Offenses sees him and they target him. At Safety, he is looking at the ball most of the time instead of having his back to the ball

Not sure how a defense that limits the opposition to under 300 yards passing in 6 of the last 8 weeks can be considered "swiss cheese". But ok..

Now, they did play better as the game went along. I can't fault Molden for the PI since it was induced by Hagan tripping over his own feet with Molden in perfect tight coverage.

I have to agree that the hitting a defenseless receiver call was BS on McCourty since he didn't lead with his helmet at all and that is the KEY for the call to be made. Also, as mentioned in the post game thread, the hit came AFTER Arrington had already made the interception, so at worst, McCourty was blocking.

How much you want to bet McCourty gets fined even though the call was BS.

I would rather see him at DB. I did not think he was that good at Safety, not to mention it's way too late at this point of the game to risk a new position with Playoffs around the corner.

That's a pretty fresh take on things, never heard that before.
