it's pretty good. some interesting tidbits in the book. like asante samuel playing zone defense and free wheeling when he was supposed to play man-to-man on the david tyree play. people are blaming rodney for that one but the pats coaching staff seems to fault asante.

i do think that holley spents way to much time on Tom Dimitroff and the Atlanta Falcons and likewise scott pioli and the kansas city chiefs.

all in all, not a bad book.

Just downloaded it to my Kindle Fire (great device by the way). It'll make a great read during my daily commute to work. I think Holley is a good writer, I liked his last Patriot book.

Half way thru....got very pissed off that BB ignored his scouts multiple times and over ruled their dissent on Maroney and Chad Jackson. BB was warned but decided to listen to college coaches inflating their guys instead of pro scouts.

It was good, but I also agree with what TommyBrady12 said...too much stuff about Dimitroff and Pioli. I wanted a book solely about the Patriots, and feel there was alot of stuff sacrificed (more info on 2007, for example) for the stories I didn't care as much about.

As much as a lot focused on Pioli and Dimitroff, found the connections and how they changed very interesting..

Holley is becoming a better writer as time goes on, not a lot of fluff..

Probably the second most intelligent book after, "Education of a coach"..

I enjoyed it. It was a fun, light read. It's super-easily digested and moves quite quickly so you'll find it hard to walk away from. I cracked it after dinner one night and didn't go to bed until I finished it.

Good luck not falling in love with Dimitroff.

Good read.

In the book one interesting part is how in 2006, despite all his team scouts strongly objecting to it, Belichick and Pioli went with Laurence Maroney and Chad Jackson because Josh McDaniels pushed for it (McDaniels' brother was an assistant coach on Maroney's team). It explained to me why the 2006-2008 Patriot drafts were so terrible. McDaniels' ineptness at personnel management and talent evaluation was confirmed for me when one looks at how he completely decimated the Denver Broncos after (even trading a 4th to us for Laurence Maroney), and now with the Rams who are dead last in points per game, total yards, and 3rd down despite having Sam Bradford and Steven Jackson.

Spreading this nonsense from thread to thread, I see. :singing:

Read the book, it confirms that McDaniels ruined the Patriot draft process and Belichick went over Patriot scouts and objections. Facts are facts. At the very least the Maroney and Jackson busts were on McDaniels. The Broncos were decimated by McDaniels, that is fact. The Rams are dead last this year in points per game, yards, and 3rd down. All facts that you can't spin, although as in the other thread you try to give McDaniels credit even for the Broncos drafting Von Miller this year (after McDaniels was fired).

I have about 50 pages left, I find it a good read.

The most telling thing I found about it is thoroughly explains BB's constant trading of draft picks.

It's Belichick's team....was McDaniels in the draft room? Did McDaniels get final say? BB whiffed by bipassing his scouts
