Dang,

I was hoping he and Jaws would go away, that way MNF could be entertaining again and I wouldn't have to watch it on mute.

I never understood all the hatred towards Gruden really. The guy definitely knows his football and his commentary has always seemed unbiased to me. Without him, I really think that the Monday night commentary would be absolute hot garbage.

Yea same, the only thing with him is he falls in love with every qb but I kinda find it amusing. The best commentater around imo. Honestly seems like some of y'all don't like anybody.

The question is, who's better than Gruden now? Collingsworth? Mayock? Gruden may not be great but he is the best person out of a heap of ****e.

It's not that I hate him, it's that I'm not thrilled with him. I much preferred Madden's repetitions (Boom!, etc...) to Gruden's. It's just a preference.

It would probably help if Gruden was better with the rules (see Pereira's fileting of him this past week) and actually took some critical positions of QBs more often. Most of these guys are big boys who can handle the criticisms as long as they are fair and even-handed (Some can't, but that's a different story).

People actually believed he was leaving? He's making roughly the same as most HC's I believe and he's having the time of his life. His contract with ESPN gives him very long term security and its pretty much impossible to get fired from that job unless he lets something pretty bad slip over the air.

I don't feel like digging up the link again, but his contract with ESPN is pretty exclusive, unless a job was offered to him that gave him BB-like power he wouldn't even consider leaving.

If him staying surprises anyone I'd be pretty shocked.

I think this season may have had some to due with a 'decline' for him, I mean, ESPN didn't exactly get themselves a blockbuster lineup this year.

I think they were just doing their best to talk everyone up, they couldn't exactly rave about having teams like the Jags.

Collinsworth (the best, by far, although he's not going anywhere)
Aikman
Simms

That's 3 off the top of my head. They're all better than Gruden, although Aikman's probably too low key for ESPN and Simms does have his "huh?" moments.*

*Obviously, these are all just personal opinions. One man's preference may be another man's reason for muting the television.

Oh man, I can't stand Collinsworth. He's rather condescending.

Collinsworth is the best, since Madden.

Watching the Saints/Pats game a couple years back Jon Gruden and Jaws got so up Brees' buttocks that I had to mute the TV. I had to mute the Pats/Chiefs game this year too, they are annoying and they hardly do play by play, just talk about how great some QBs are.

They don't have the voices for commentating, they need to go away and give Mike and Mike or Steve Young and Skip Bayless the job. May be more entertaining.

I would have loved to see him on the sidelines again. I loved how fired up he got during games. He was my favourite coach after BB.

commentary...meh More fun watching em yell at rookies on the sideline;)

If he did leave who would tell me about "that guy"????... I find him boring and repetitive.

You'll never come back from that one, "Skip Bayless".

WTF.....worst news i have heard all week

Rather than this simplistic reactive bull, tell me: who would you rather have; and why??

ill take anyone..hell put a rock up there and ill be happy

I don't mind Gruden. Liked him as a coach and as an announcer/analyst. Not sure who they'd replace him with if he did leave though. I like the Collinsworth/Michaels and the Nantz/Simms duos.
