The darned thing fell onto the field during the Insight Bowl! It just missed players. It's gotta be trashed. Somebody is in a world of sh!t.

imagine something like this falling on the franchise? i would be ready to kill

It really is disastrous for ESPN. They look like idiots. It missed a guy by about a foot. It must weigh about 100>125 pounds and is damned expensive. It'll go viral on Youtube in no time.

ESPN will blame it on Terrorrists

The Eagle has landed.

Not good, but much better than Cam, Sky Crashes

This has happened before. Somewhere there is a series of emails from one or more engineers that identifies the likelihood of this happening and how to prevent it, which were ignored by managers up the line who didn't want to ruffle feathers or disturb the waters.

O-rings.

It was virtually inevitable that something like this would happen. Those are very cool machines but machines ultimately break at some point, even with good maintenance. They are very fortunate that (a) nobody got hurt and (b) it didn't come in the middle of a play. Can you imagine? It'd be like one of those Buffalo Wild Wings commercials. Down 7 with 30 seconds to go, QB drops back, throws, ball is caught....as the defender tries to chase him down, the guy controlling the skycam loses it and it crashes on the defender, freeing up the receiver for a TD.

They really need to rethink those devices now completely. Personally, I *hate* the view it gives you when they use it for field goals. I have trouble seeing the ball as it is kicked when they use the skycam. I prefer the end zone view for those plays anyway.

The way that guy was picking it up easily, it probably only weighs around 40-50 lbs. It still would have hurt somebody if it landed on them though.

Yeah, doesn't take much weight to cause harm falling like that. And those cables can cause some harm.

It would be horrific were such a camera crash to come down and knock a final second winning Jets fluke TD pass out of the sky Sunday.

Actually, that's how Reggie Bush got knocked out of tomorrow's game. Goodell was at the controls.

It was amazing how the ESPN announcers immediately went into joke mode and not once mentioned how someone could've gotten hurt.

ESPN? They'll find a way to blame BB for this.

Just watched McNutt get attacked by the Skycam. I always knew ESPN would side with the machines when the war came.
