I'm referring to the front seven that led the NFL in sacks...check your facts.
Aww that's cute how you get so defensive. I thought people in SD were all happy go lucky? Guess someone pissed in your low fat double mocha latte this morning.

Well, let's take your 53 and our 53, then add the coaching staffs of each team, mix then all up in their respective containers -- shaken, not stirred -- and we will see.
Somehow, I'm feeling this is going to be a good game, both in its play *and* in its outcome. I like the way the Pats have been building up the past two months, "peaking at the right time", as some have put it.

OK. I'll give you the SD LB's are better (I really wanted to get Donnie Edwards at the beginning of the season when it looked like he was just dangling there by the acrimony with your front office). The NE DL is better.
The NE Secondary is better and deeper. When you judge a D you have to judge the whole 11 players and the backups. Advantage Patriots.
The Chargers have been peaking at the right time for the last three months. They are 10-0 since their last loss in October.
I think this is going to be a tough game, but anyone who thinks the Pats front seven is better than the Chargers is on crack.
No, really, it's not. The Pats' D Line might be the equal of the Bolts, but they certainly aren't better. Jamal Williams is the best NT in the game, and Luis Castillo is every bit as good as Richard Seymour. The Bolts' linebackers are vastly superior.
As far as the secondary goes, there's no question with Rodney out that the Bolts are better. Jammer, Florence and Cromartie are better than Samuel, Hobbs and Mickens. Hawkins and Sanders are pretty pedestrian at safety. McCree is better than both those guys. Kiel a liability in coverage, but not any more than Sanders or Hawkins.
Well, if that's the case, then the SD defensive backfield must be markedly inferior to the Pats', given the big disparity in points allowed!

Ummmmmmmm, you are kidding, RIGHT.
Dude, we appreciate homers sticking up for "their" boys, but please, just be REASONABLE about it. At least a little.
Your LB's are better, by a SHADE. Then stop. It's easy to say you have a great "D" when you have a great offense. You're D gives up WAAAAAAAAY to many points......... and in the end, thats that stat that counts THE MOST.
The Pats will score on you, and quite a bit (I'd say at least 30). The REAL question is how much our defense will limit your offense. That is what the outcome of this game will rest on.
The Chargers have had numerous injuries to key personnel and a 4 game suspension to overcome.
The Chargers have had numerous injuries to key personnel and a 4 game suspension to overcome. That has affected their performance at times. But when you look at how they've performed when healthy (like they are now), they have been dominant.

But when you look at how they've performed when healthy (like they are now), they have been dominant. In the games where we've had all 11 on defense healthy (like we do now) the Bolts have given up an average of 10 points per game.
Further, alot of the points we have given up in the last half of the season were in garbage time. If you look at how we played when the game was close, you'll see that our defense has been great.
In our last 5 games, since Merriman returned, the Chargers have given up an average of 2.6 points in the first half.
In the First Half:
The Bills scored 0 against us.
The Broncos scored 3.
The Chiefs scored 3.
The Seahawks scored 0.
And the Cardinals scored 7.
In those games, we broke out to leads of:
17-0
28-3
14-3
10-0
and 27-7.

Trust me, this game is LESS about your D, than it is about OUR D.

There is no way the Pats will score 30 on us. That's just a joke.
What did I say that was unreasonable?
NE's DL is better? give me a break.. barring all injuries SD's DL is head and shoulders above NE's. Jamal williams, Igor Olshansky, and Louis Castillo < -- all beasts. advantage = chargers.
NE's secondary is about equal to SD's.. jammer has been basically a shut down corner for the entire season. SD's weakness is the play of the safeties.. so to be fair, advantage = patriots.
Linebackers for NE aren't even close to SD's. Merriman, phillips, edwards, wilhelm, godfrey, dobbins.. those guys are fast and strong, giving the chargers the ability to send any (if not all) of them blitzing on every down. that's what makes the 3-4 so hard to block against. advantage = chargers.
marty has had a poor record in the past, and BB has done well. however, marty has schooled BB head to head recently, so i can't give the advantage to either side on that one. cam cameron however dominates as an offensive coordinator, and wade phillips has been incredible on the defensive side.
i think it'll be a great game, but there's a lot of patriot homers here. give respect when it's due, the patriots were given their respect when they were on their super bowl runs.
Don't count on Brady having all day to throw against the best front seven in football...

Your points re: the LB's and Secondary are good, but they are drowned out by the sheer lunacy of your point about the DL.
That plus the "there's a lot of patriot homers here" line is precious. Gee, d'ya think so? A website called Patsfans.com? Wow, fella, will wonders ever cease?
