Sunday's Televised Games

The excellent 506 site has Sunday's CBS games up. The bad news is that here south of Tampah we don't get the Pats but get Jets-Phins. Off to the bar again for me where I'll be surrounded by loud obnoxious Jets fans. I think I'll have fun...

Re: Sunday's Televised Games

This is the last futile gesture by the Jets this season - denying Pats fans all across the country the opportunity to watch the Bills game.

Re: Sunday's Televised Games

Ya, i was pretty excited to check this morning to see that I get Jets-Phins and Chiefs-Broncos as my CBS games... UGH. Really? 95% of the country is interested in these games? I know, the Pats-Bills should in theory be a blow out where Brady sits the 2nd half, but seriously? Jets-Phins? 0.00001% playoff implications, no QB about to be the 3rd QB in history to throw for 5,000 yards, hell, no QB who can throw! Gag me CBS.
Hellooooo Buffalo Wild Wings!

Both games have potential playoff implications.

Denver definately does and it's Tebow/ Orton revenge.

In 9 out of 10 years, Denver would have been the game moved to NBC.

Television coverage for week 17, Bills at Pats
By: John Morgan

Television coverage is unique in week 17; there are no games on Thursday, Saturday or Monday; both networks get to broadcast two games apiece; and it is the only week that the NFL does not consider input from the networks when moving games from one time s...

Jets-Dolphins has playoff implication and Pats-Bills does not. I don't see how this is complicated to understand.

I would say there are much greater playoff implications with the Texans-Titans game than with the Jets-Dolphins. The Jets chances are completely dependent on the outcome of three other games. At least the Pats game determines who gets the #1 playoff seed, which would affect either the Ravens or Steelers too. With that in mind why wouldn't the Pats game be broadcast in Baltimore and Pittsburgh?

I think the Jets game getting so much coverage around the country has more to do with the amount of attention Rex's mouth gets from both the media and fans, and the number of transplanted New Yorkers around the country than it does with which game has the most playoff implications. For example if it was all about playoff implications then the late game between the Chiefs and Broncos would not get nearly as much coverage; most of the country would be watching the Ravens at Cincinnati.

Re: Sunday's Televised Games

Agreed. WAY too many transplanted loud mouth brash New Yawkiz here south of Tampa.
But the Florida East coast is even worse. They breed like rats.

I can't believe I'm getting stuck with the Jets/Miami garbage and gotta watch the Pats from some low quality stream.

I want Brady to throw for 400+ and I want the Panthers to hold Brees for under 200 yards.... So that Brady holds the record for another hundred years.

Hahaha same here kid. I live in Tampa too. Last week I so many crazy Dolphin fans all over me the whole game and they disappeared around the 4th quarter Lol

Re: Sunday's Televised Games

Or if you already have directv, just get sunday ticket for the last game. It's pro-rated. OR if you know someone who has directv, get the mobile version and you can watch it on computer or iphone.

I must say it's nice never (or at least very rarely) having this problem.

I actually got really lucky this year, we went to Maui over Thanksgiving and got to see both games while we were away. The Monday nighter vs KC (at 3:30 pm) and then the game vs. Phi was the game of the week.

:D:D:D

Ok, I guess I'll spell it out for you:

Jets-Dolphins affects 1 team to get a possible 6th seed, and that team (the Jets) needs I think 3 or possibly FOUR other teams to lose for it to matter.

Pats-Bills. Let's see, Pats can get 1st or 2nd seed, Ravens and Steelers can get 1st, 2nd, or 5th seed depending on the Pats game and their own, Houston and the AFC West can see where they will have to go during the divisional round depending on who wins, etc...
Oh, and I'm a fracking Pats fan you tool. Why would I want to watch the effing JETS?

Is that too complicated for you or should I create a pie chart for you?

Re: Sunday's Televised Games

Jets @ Miami here - blech...

If you want to watch the game with a bunch of Patriots fans in Tampa, go to Boston's on Anderson.

two mediocre wild card longshots mostly decided by outside forces chosen over a Tom Brady, record setting, revenge match with highflying offensive shootout potential. 95%??????????

couldn't get threw the thread I'm so livid, time to read the thread and discover counter points lol

Never new the whole country was interested in bottom of the barrel, mold green, ratholes crawling into the playoffs. "This is a tough team, we struggled all season but these guys are champions and deserve a SB shot" FU Rex

Wonder what villain that organization would put in Planet azz's spot if the decision had to be made.

Hellooooo Buffalo Wild Wings!

Let's be honest about it. The only people really interested in Pats--Bills live in New England, Upstate NY, Baltimore or Pittsburgh or are die-hard fans of the two teams somewhere else in the country.

We might be interested in Brady breaking 5,000 yards in what would be his third MVP season were it not for what two other guys have done, and the fact that the "real story" for people outside of NE was Brees the other night.

And, as others have pointed out, both of the other games you cite have important playoff implications, especially when we consider how the Jests lucked into the post season two years ago and then went to the threshold of the SB.

I like my wings spicy and with lots of blue cheese dip...no matter what my doctor says. Enjoy!

Yabbut we're talking about this year's Jests, the ones that have spit the bit every time they've been in a game that matters. This week will be no different. The Jests will have suffered enough INTs, fumbles and safeties so the game will be over before the second half starts.

On the other hand, our sh**ty defense has a history of keeping the other side in the game far too long, and I doubt BUF has packed it in, given their last few games.

I think CBS is basing things on potential audience size, where NEP-BUF is just a smaller target audience than NYJ-MIA is, even though I think the NEP game will be a lot more interesting.

Living in Maine I get to see my team no matter what--:) But I have to say I really feel for most of the rest of the country- Jets /Miami - that should really be ratings grabber in the middle of the country ;)

And I can't help to notice they also have the greatest announcer -Dan Dierdorf- covering the game:rolleyes: WOW how can the rest of the country be so lucky
