So, What's Going to Happen with Buffalo?

Do you think BB would blindside us all and not play TFB for all or part of the game given that he apparently had some kind of non-throwing shoulder injury in the last game? After all, we have locked up a bye, but not the first seed, which is ours if we win.

Do you think Buffalo will lay down against us? I am trying to think back to the last game. As I recall it was an absolute shoot out/turnover fest, with them turning it over a few times early and TFB throwing 4 (!) interceptions, then Fitzpatrick looking all-world as he picked our woeful secondary apart. After playing us Buffalo went quickly downhill. What the heck happened to them? Teams figure them out? It seems like they are still scoring points (or have lately) but their D has become putrid, although I guess they played pretty well last week at home against the Tebow train.

I think down deep pride and the idea that you should always play your best will prevent BB and TFB from sitting TFB for all or part of the final game (unless it is a well-in-hand blowout). But, I have to think about it, if Brady is really hurting would it be better to give him two weeks off, even if we sacrifice home field throughout? I understand it would be so much better to have the AFC Championship game here if we make it that far, but can we make it that far if Brady is really dinged up? Not being able to put your shirt on sounds kinda serious. I guess we'll know more when the practice/injury reports come out today.

And no, I don't expect Buffalo to lay down. They always play us tough, and they were still playing last week when they won, so why not now against a hated rival who has beaten them for years, and now they have the chance to sweep the series this year and knock us out of the no. 1 seed? They apparently have a bad run D - could it be the Stevan Ridley coming out party, especially if Brady is hurting? That's what I would try to go with, but if our D can't prevent them from scoring 17 early, then it will be out the window.

I guess it all depends on if the Patriots come out slow and get booed. Because, you know, they can be lazy arses and need the fans to set them straight.

Buffalo was #1 in the league this year in both players to IR and in time missed due to injuries. After the Pats game, they got hit hard, and lost 3 of their top 5 players (including arguably their best player in Fred Jackson).

After a midseason swoon where they were blown out 3 times, they have sort of righted the ship, and mainly been competitive the past few weeks. They really should have beaten the Jets, and last week, they showed some of the form that won them games early in the season.

I don't expect BB to rest Brady at all; coaches don't just play for a bye. Homefield throughout is huge, despite recent results.

This game is very unpredictable. The Bills won't lay down.

I can't say this for sure...... but I think I saw BB leading the boo's when the camera panned is his direction. Sure, the Patriots were thrown for a loop when the O-line got messed up with Mankins and Light out.......

But when has that every been an excuse for crappy execution in the last 10 years of our history....... NEVER. Just do your job I believe it the way the saying goes. So maybe BB wasn't leading the boo's, but he probably did mind them one bit. I'm sure his locker room chat consisted more then...

"Gee, come on guys, lets just try harder....."

As to the original questions...... I expect Buffalo to come out swinging, and perhaps even take an early lead. I fully expect that the Patriots will methodically wear them down and the final score won't be that close.

What's funny about the whole "boo" thing is that I'm not one to boo. I just find it amusing that someone thinks booing never helps, is always childish, and is something that no player acknowledges as being anything but ignorance on the part of the fans, but cheering is a-ok.

Well, I am not the one to ask about what is going to happen with the Buffalo game because I (a) posted a thread on this board saying no way the Miami game was a trap game, with the Pats at home and playing for #1 seed, so of course they were getting whipped at halftime, and (b) sometimes boo the team and that makes me ignorant and childish and god-knows-what-else...

but, since you asked, I can't see Brady not playing, unless and until the game is safely decided one way or another. I have to believe BB is going to keep his foot on the gas for this one, and I have to think the players feel the same way after that loss to Buffalo earlier in the year.
I would like to see a little more of either BJGE, or, Ridley. I love BJGE but he seems to either be hurt and/or fallen out of favor. But Ridley had some nice, tough runs against Miami...not breakaways but he gained some tough yardage.

Sure, the #1 seed would be nice, but not at further cost to the one guy that could potentially fuel a deep playoff run if healthy, and a quick exit if not. Hoyer is a dependable back-up from what we've seen. Let him run the offense and get the running game going.

If TB is hurt, then yes, I agree, but if he is healthy, he will play.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I wouldn't mind about three quarters or more of rest for Tom, Wes, Gronk, Light, Law Firm, Hernandez, Wilfork, Mayo, and anyone else who is banged up to the point that it hurts their play.

Mankins, Vollmer, and Spikes seem a given for the inactive list and I would add to it from frontline players who could use the break.

I want to win, sure, but any personal stats are irrelevant and "momentum" is overrated IMO. Being as close to 100% healthy two weeks from this weekend should be the goal.

I don't know about cheering per se, but yelling loudly while the opponent has the ball sometimes helps. Booing doesn't.

As for Buffalo: they have some fresh injuries of their own on the offensive line which might help our cause defensively. I expect Buffalo will play hard and make a four-quarter game of it. I just hope the Pats put a little more emphasis on running the ball to take some pressure off Brady.

Well, we don't know much, but here are a few things I think we know:

1. BB would prefer to play the AFC Championship game at home (despite the obnoxious fans).

2. Brady was unable to put on his own shirt after the game Sun.

3. Hoyer is taking the snaps in practice today.

Brady not at practice. BOOOOOOO! That is a bummer. Hopefully just a vet's day off but I'm afraid I doubt that.

Maybe we should be getting ready for the Hoyer/Ridley Show.

PS - I bet he starts the game then maybe sits for most of it.
