Terrible news. My thoughts go out to his family.

Re: Patriots announce death of Houston Antwine

Sad news. He was before my time, but always said to hear news like this.

Re: Patriots announce death of Houston Antwine

Another one of the too short but very quick DT tandem along with Jim Hunt. Two class guys, for those of you too young to have seen them play, they were the original Patriot defensive tackles for about ten years. The position was in good hands.

How sad. RIP. Prayers to their family.

Very sad news, wife also died :( thoughts with their family!

He should have gotten in the NE HOF in 2011 when he was nominated for the 3rd time. I voted for the old dude and really wish he had lived long enough to see himself enshrined. It's not like Bledsoe is getting ready to cash it in any time soon. These NE HOF votes are bogus as most voters never even saw most of these guys play. Popularity contest only voted on by those who started following the team in the 2000's.

Re: Patriots announce death of Houston Antwine

Awful news
Houston Antwine & Jim Lee Hunt at DT
Larry Eisenhauer & Bob Dee at DE
The early era (60s) Patriots

Re: Patriots announce death of Houston Antwine

I remember him well as a kid playing for the Pats. I also recall a friend of mine from Tennnesee, back in my Air Force days, saying to me - "I don't know much about your Patriot team, except that fellow Houston Antwine is a damn good player".

RIP Houston.

Re: Patriots announce death of Houston Antwine

I stuffed the ballot box trying to get him into the Pats Hall of Fame. He was the key piece of the early Patriots Defensive line. He allowed Hunt, Dee and Eisenhauer to do their thing, who all made it when he was by far the best of the four.

Too bad he wasn't selected before he died.

Re: Patriots announce death of Houston Antwine

Horrible news. RIP Mr. and Mrs. Antwine.

So true. I voted for Antwine as well. Sigh.....

Re: Patriots announce death of Houston Antwine

One of the best Patriots of all time and definately one of Ray Clay's favorites.

My deepest sympathy to the Children and friends of both Houston and his wife.

Re: Patriots announce death of Houston Antwine

Re: Patriots announce death of Houston Antwine

Erant gigantes in diebus illis.

I often wonder what guys like Antwine, who were there in the days when the Boston Patriots played around the Sox at Fenway (necessitating a lot of September road games) and who remember a team that played a season at Alumni Stadium and another at Harvard Stadium, not to mention a game or two at Legion Field...I often wonder what these guys make of the billion dollar franchise the team has become, not to mention its stature as one of the premier franchises in the NFL.

The current team, as great as it is, stands on the shoulders of (relatively) unsung giants like Houston Antwine.

RIP, Houston.

Re: Patriots announce death of Houston Antwine

Prayers to his friends and family during these difficult times...

Ex-Patriot DT Houston Atwine passes away at age 72
By: John Morgan

Former Patriot defensive tackle Houston Antwine has passed away at the age of 72. One of the all-time greats in the history of the franchise, Antwine was a six-time AFL All Star and a member of the All-Time All-AFL team, as well as a member of the Patriot...

Bummer. RIP.

How sad. RIP.
