Ryan expressed confidence in quarterback Mark Sanchez earlier today, but he took it to a different level in a radio interview.
"I've said from Day One I thought he was the best quarterback in the National Football League, I even put him over Tom Brady, so of course I recognize Peyton Manning is an unbelievable quarterback," Ryan said on ESPN 1050 Radio today, in an interview with Stephen A. Smith. "But do I think it’s even a consideration for us? No, I don’t."

good for us........

He's putting Manning over Brady, not Sanchez.

Rex Ryan is lying his ass off.

The Jets would be all over Manning if he came free but he won't, what Ryan thinks wouldn't matter, Bradway and Johnson would tell him it isn't his decision.

He should just shut up but short of that he has to say this, if manning were available he would be all for it, only a short list of teams really wouldn't make the effort

Ryan also said this Jets team was the best team he coached and that they were going to win the Super Bowl.

I guarantee you that given the opportunity to get Manning assuming they feel he is going to recover and don't have to give up too much, they will probably jump.

That said, I don't know if the Colts are getting Andrew Luck. The Rams will most likely lose this weekend and the Colts might not be able to lose to the Jags even if they try. Will the Colts draft a lesser QB at #2?

Rex it's me Bill.

Hey Bill.

Listen we're trying to get younger so here's a trade offer. We'll give you Brady for Sanchez and two first round picks.

Bill if you'll do that I'll throw in a free ring, @ss and toe kissing for free.

Just like they forced Favre on Mangini, and then blamed the Ratgini when that didn't work out so well.:eek:

He's lying, he's just trying to boost the confidence of his team. If Manning is available next offseason, he'll do everything he can to get him.

Rex Ryan sometimes says things that lack truth... Rex Ryan has no control over this, if Woody wants to make a personnel change he will. If the Jets miss the playoffs a personnel change will follow. Woody hasn't managed to hang onto his job for so many years of mediocrity by standing behind people, he's ridden the wave of public opinion at every turn to save his own neck and keep asses in the seats. If PM is available they'll make a strong push and if not or if they fail I'm guessing Shotty will get the axe, just the way of things in NJ.

What would you expect him to say? "Sanchez sucks, I can't wait to dump him."? He has to express confidence in Sanchez, until he actually gets a chance to upgrade.

He's only saying this so Sanchez won't cry himself to sleep at night

Lurch Manning to the Jets at $28 million on the cap would be the best thing possible. The NY Jets could field a roster of about 15 guys. 10 guys to play both ways, a punter, a kicker, Sanchize as the backup QB and Manning.

What a mess.

Put Manning on the Jets and get that team a RT, and they'd probably be the favorite in the AFC.

Jets for now need to take the Hollywood out of Sanchez - it would help a bit.

True, but wouldn't you have to cut some significant players just to make enough room for horseface?

A smart coach would lie with class when asked about Manning...

"We have our QB position staffed by a young, healthy still developing QB who got us to the AFCCG two years in a row. I wish Peyton good health and a continued career."
