Today, Welker did a number of things:

  • He became the first WR ever to record four 110-catch seasons.
  • He moved within 10 receptions of Troy Brown's career franchise record, and within 10 of his own single-season franchise record.
  • He moved into a tie for fourth all-time with his 14th 10-reception game. [And, remarkably the NEP are 12-2 when he does; Jerry Rice, who had an NFL record of 17(!) such games, saw his team go 8-9(!) when he did.]
  • He broke Randy Moss' franchise record of 1,493 receiving yards set in 2007; he has 1,518 with one game to go.

He is playing fantastic!!

On another note, he must be the shortest WR to accomplish these things!! Hahaha

Help this clueless "geezer" - is beast(ing) the hot new slang term? It makes me feel all sweaty and tingly :D ;)

Maybe first White WR to ever do that?

actually, it's a term first coined by Jet fan to describe every single player on the Jet roster..e.g. (insert any Jet here) is a BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!...also used extensively as a verb...e.g. Sanchez threw that incompletion on a frozen rope 20 yards downfield!!! He's BEASTIN'!!!..

I think of this term as one of those undercover scary mary terms...you know, the type of loser fan (43 years straight) that has always seen losing, always expects the worst, almost always gets the worst, and lives a life so pathetic that their only source of self esteem is being part of the NY Jet fanbase...to hide their deep insecurity, they came up with "beast!!" and "beastin"!!!!" to artificially inflate their fragile egos...but deep inside they all know...they suck...

Wow, to think he could be the all time leading patriots receiver in catches if he gets 11 next week in only 5 years is amazing.

Ah! I think I get it now! When Mark Sanchez was using Mark Brunell as a Kleenex, that was Beasting® at its finest!

Brady threw four or five terrible passes at him today, plus the illegal contacts, that would have inflated his stats even further....the Dolphins let him walk because they thought ,although he was a "good little reliable receiver", they could do much better in the draft and spend the money on players of larger stature in free agency...of course, that's why their scouting and player development has been a running joke since JJ left.

I came into this thread fully understanding what the term 'beasting' was, now I'm angry and confused and questioning myself.

Welker is unbelievable. IDK WTF the Dolphins were thinking trading him. And they did it inside the division!! Someone ****ed up on that one.

Sign the Beast!! :D

Welker is definitely a beast. He is having a fantastic season, and i love the kid...

But is it just me, or is his dominant season as a WR being overshadowed? It seems as if nobody gives welker the credit he deserves. Hell... people talk more about someone like greg jennings than welker.

Remember in 07 when moss and brady went on a tear? Moss was breaking records and EVERYONE was on his bandwagon.

I bet no one is on the welker bandwagon except patriots fans. Kind of pisses me off tbh

Yea, NO WAY is that slot receiver Welker as talented or valuable as the league's elite wideouts. Patriots should move on with Edelman next year in order to keep payroll down.  :bricks:

I don't think trading a player within a division is ever a good idea but look at what they got for him at the time. They were thinking 2 nd & 7th round pick for an UDFA slot receiver(granted he was their best receiver in 06). No way did they expect Welker to become a perennial 110+ catch receiver and the type of weapon he is.

Moss deserved every bit of the attention he was getting. But Welker has definately put the notion of him being a product of Moss away. And he has been a 4time All-Pro for us in 5 years. It's not like he isn't getting any respect. Everybody knows that you have to gameplan for him.

IIRC, there was some contract gamesmanship in play when Welker was a RFA. I believe the reason for a 2 and a 7 was to be greater than a 2, to force the Fins into a higher compensation bracket. But I also thought there might be some kind of poison pill (like the Curtis Martin deal).

So, I do not think they just let him walk cavalierly.

Well, just go get yourself "beasted"; you'll feel downright perky again! :p

Just one more reason why I roll my eyes when someone insists we need a "tall" receiver. There is more than one way to get open. Give me a guy who can play. Then I may get around to caring about his measurables.

Dolphins regret it I'm sure but it's hard know what a player will become. Wes was already looking good in Miami but he wasn't a star that's for sure. If Mcnabb threw for 50 TDs in Washington, then everyone would've said the eagles made a huge mistake too. Glad we got Wes and he's a raging beast.
