Amazing. This is the final home game for the Bills, and they're also playing the Broncos, etc.

Tim Tebow Not Enough: Broncos-Bills Blacked Out In Buffalo - SBNation.com

The Bills had 24,000 tickets available for their Week 16 home game against the Broncos. According to NFL blackout rules, games cannot be televised locally if the game does not sellout at least 72 hours prior to the game. The league does allow for corporate partners to help with ticket purchases, and they even offer teams an extension of the 72-hour deadline if they're only short a few thousand tickets.

Blackouts are part of life for football fans in Buffalo. This is the Bills' final home game of the season and the third blackout. After a 4-1 start to the season, Buffalo has lost their last seven games.

What a sorry situation for that franchise and those fans.

Oh, how the Bills have spiraled out of control. They had their franchise QB, a playmaking defense, and the best running back in the league. Now they have none of those. And now this.

Yup. Not even the chance to see Tebow live could save this franchise. I know that times are tough there too, and in a sense I feel sorry for those folks, but almost all the problems this franchise has is the direct result of their owner's decisions.

If this was the JESTS I wouldn't shed a tear, though.

This is the game the broadcast maps have showing to the majority of the country. Does this mean that I have a chance to still see the Pats game here in SC?

Probably not.

A blackout only applies to the home market; it doesn't prevent nationwide broadcast.

Sadly, no. Unless you have Sunday Ticket, you'll still be getting the Broncos/Bills game.

Just because it is blacked out in Buffalo, does not mean it will not be shown in select markets.. i.e. the Denver market.

I hope its blacked out in the Toronto area as well.

F&ck smug ***** Bills fans..they deserve all this.

Can you blame the fans for not wanting to go to the game? It's the same thing year in year out for Bills fans. Hell, the city in general has had bad luck with their sporting teams.

Are you saying that people named Wilson are cheap bastids?

so the network chose to black out the Chosen One???after nearly giving birth to tens of millions of Chosen media babies just last week?..pretty fickle sports media at work...

Is it me?...or just a coincidence that as soon as Fitzpatrick got his very generous new contract,he has really sucked.

When was the last time Bills fans were smug?

As to the OP, the Bills were #1 in the league this year in time missed for injuries. With no depth, they can't overcome something like that. But the franchise has at least made some positive moves in the past year or so - I doubt they'll continue to be basement dwellers for long...

It is not due to the weather, this is pretty balmy for Buffalo...

Saturday: A chance of snow showers, mainly before 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. Southwest wind between 10 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Typical Harvard grad
Once they win what they want, they start sucking big time

I actually feel bad for the fans.

I mean, there are probably a ton of local fans who like watching the game, but would rather sit at home or with a group of friends at the bar and watch it rather than face the Buffalo weather.

Two factors to consider here. The stadium is bigger than most NFL arenas at 73,100, but tickets also are quite cheap -- perhaps the cheapest in the league. No doubt that if the Bills were winners, fans would fill the place.

I hope its blacked out in the Toronto area as well.

Odds are it would not be blacked out per se in the Toronto region. Canadians generally get football one of two ways, either on a Canadian network such as CTV, Sportsnet or TSN or through an American network such as CBS or FOX.

The thing is that CBS and FOX do not have Canadian stations and Canadians receive a feed from a city geographically close to where they are (this can be different based on your provider). For instance, for my digital cable provider here in Nova Scotia all of our US networks (ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC) come from Boston so we see every Patriots game. On the other hand, a colleague of mine who has a different provider has some of his US networks streamed from Boston and others from New York.

So, it would likely be a toss up for someone from Toronto. If their CBS feed comes from Buffalo they would likely be blacked out, but if it comes from Detroit, Chicago, etc. and those cities get the game, so would Toronto.

I wouldn't mind the Bills winning to knock Denver off....i don't want to see that putrid Denver Offense in the Playoffs. They would get knocked out too easily. I am cheering for San Diego or the Raiders. Atleast they would put a fight against the 5th seed.
