Did anyone think there was any geniune warmth in the post-game hug between BB and Magini? I think BB grabbed Mangini and whispered in his ear:

"This is just for the cameras. I still hate you, you slimy SOB."

I don't think either of them are particularly emotional people. That said, I do think they are friends and have a genuine feeling of friendship between them, just not on the football field. A quick hug like that is preferable to Herm and Tony motorboating at midfield for a half minute yesterday.

Seemed distinctly perfunctory to me.

Years from now perhaps we'll learn that Robert K.
called the Jets' owner, and said, "Bob, this feud, contempt, and hatred shtick
is bad for our game.
Let's make them behave at midfield!"

I'm guessing that Fat Bastard wanted as little to do with The Real Genius, as BB wanted to do with FB following the 14-17 loss. I didn't see FB's lips move once during the hug. I will say, though, that it is easier to be gracious in victory. On the other hand, there is such a thing as being too gracious in defeat. Case in point: everybody's pal, Hermie Edwards. The more I think about yesterday, the more I hate him.

I think BB just did it to get the media to stop talking about "the feud". I saw a lot of emotion from BB on the sideline over the last 3-4 minutes of the game. There wasn't even a hint of a smile when he approached Mangini, and the way he shoved that cameraman out of the way he didn't seem to be in a happy mood at all. It was more like, "alright, let's get this sxxx over with."

I'm willing to bet they have spoken on the phone several times since we last played them...we'll never know. Belichick is too nice a guy to be like that.

However...to be my own devil's advocate. could it be that with a pick now at or @ 22 Belichick is much happier than he would have been with pick #30.

We call that hug a "Bill Parcells".

Hush little baby don't you cry...

You're on the right track. How much has been written about their post-game handshake and possible "feud".? Seems to me that BB planned on removing all doubt with "the hug". Very calculated and just another one of BB's digs to the media. 'There! Was that good enough for y'all?!' Very clever...and funny.

I havent seen BB that excited on the sideline for a long time, that was interesting.....

He was Jacked-up like another Pats coach I've seen.

So exactly how am I to interpret Mangini's ass grab that so many of the camera's missed?

Trivia question: other than post-Super Bowl wins, when was the last time BB emoted so much at the end of a game?

Beating Miami in OT in 2003.

The Miami Game...In OT Tom's long bomb to Troy!!! I'll never forget it. He threw his headphones in the air. Awesome!

I was thinking about that one, where he threw the headphones in the air like Mary Tyler Moore, but there was another one - I can't quite put my finger on it but I think it was another game where there was something personal about it for BB, like beating Mangini was.

I've never seen BB slap a helmet or a butt before tonite... he was clearly happy to take Mangina out of the playoffs
