Key to Beating the Chargers?

KEEP LT UNDER 80 YARDS RUSHING- KEEP LT UNDER 80 YARDS RUSHING - KEEP LT UNDER 80 YARDS RUSHING...Got it? - If LT gets near or over 100 yrds rushing then we go packing for home, simple to understand.

protect brady ..take merriman out of the game or make him iffective some how
go deep early/ho huddle and take some shots -try and get a lead
LT is going to get 100 yards...put the game in rivers hands and see if he can make mistakes...

No turnovers and we win imo

A bit more is needed, methinks.

Contain Ledainian, of course. He'll get his yards, just don't let them be "big" yards, ie, in the Red Zone.

Confuse and pressure Rivers. Still a very young guy, can be susceptible to the "lull", letting him think his receiver is open then attacking when the ball is thrown, as TLaw does so well against Pay-a-ton.

On O we need to confuse the Bolts reactive D into over-playing, then slip Maroney or Faulk under the pressure. Also play-action to Reche and Gafney. Use Graham's blocking strength and post to a streaking Troy.

That should do it. Plus a few odds and ends.

Stuff the run ,contain LT and force Rivers to pass. I think Rivers will be the ultimate downfall of the Chargers. It's his first year and BB will confuse the heck out of him, just as we did to Big Ben in his first year.

Brees isn't on SD anymore:D

I think the Chargers will be a different tempo. Today's the Jets dinked and dunked. Rivers will try midrange to long passes. So i'm thinking their will be 3 and outs, more punts, more possessions.

The Pats need to do what they did today. Score first and control the temp, keep the edge rushers off key with inside draws, screens, swing passes, chipping from rb's and tightends to help tackles.

Brees plays for New Orleans. We must make Rivers beat us. We have the coaching advantage. Marty is an idiot.

It's all about containing LT. If they have to consistently move up the field via the pass, we should be able to contain them on offense. If LT is chewing up yards on the ground, we're toast. Having Rodney back wouldn't hurt, either...

I think we will be ok as long as we score more points than the Chargers..

"IMO"

Any Given Sunday....

slow LT down
pressure Rivers
stop Gates
keep Brady clean

Remember it was easy to stop the run today..Washington & Houston (funny how the jets have 2 running backs with names of states and cities:D ) - Washington and Houston could not carry Tomlinsons Jock Strap so don't compare todays stopping the run effort with whats needed next week.

It will be a solid effort needed much like we did against McGahee in the 2nd game at Buffalo and against Rudi Johnson in Cincy - Those were probably the best backs we faced this year,Until now.

Win the battle of the trenches on both sides of the ball.

We need to force Rivers into beating us with his arm by controlling LT and we need to be able to run the ball enough on the Bolts defense to stop the Bolts defense from teeing off on brady when he drops back to pass.

The team that runs, and stops the run the best, wins this game.

marty actually has beaten BB all the time if iam not wrong..

The key is to contain LT. We don't need to shut him down but we need to contain him. Much like Marshall Faulk was with the Rams, LT is the cog that makes the SD offense work.

BB came up with a brilliant plan to stop Faulk and the Rams, I think he can come up with something to cope with LT and the Chargers. The one factor that Charger fans fail to appreciate is the coaching factor.

The Pats stopped cold the "greatest show on turf" and I'm sorry Chargers, I've seen the 2001 Rams and your team is not nearly as great as the 2001 Rams. The difference in this matchup? The Rams had Kurt Warner, Isaac Bruce AND Torry Holt. The Chargers aerial game is nowhere near as explosive and they have a rookie QB at the helm. Force Rivers to try to beat us with his arm and the Pats win this game hands down.

that does not change the fact that bb is smarter and marty is an idiot.

Now heres the issue for you guys.

1. LT is extremely fast, your linebackers...not so much. If we line LT up in the slot he can recieve for over 100. Especially with the threat of Michael Turner in the backfield.

2. Gates matches up well with your slow linebackers too, and it doenst help that Harrison wont play, or if he does he wont be at 100.

3. Rivers doesnt get sacked very often, the pass protection has been A+ this year.

4. Chargers set the record for sacks in a single season this year, we have the best pass rush in the game.

5. Its in San Diego, itll be loud and crazy and make it even harder for your mismatched offense.

is there any way that when Belichick sits down with his staff they come up with any conclusion other than Tomlinson being the key to their offense?

They've historically been pretty good at taking out the guy they want to. it then falls on his teammates to make plays. who knows how rivers responds.

i'd feel a little better if the SD defense weren't tough too.

Force Rivers to try and beat us by throwing, don't allow him to hand off or dump it off to LT. Do that and we will win easily.

Easier said than done ofcourse.

But then your slow LB's have to cover Gates.
Gates can take over a game completely if you dont pay him attention.
