This guy needs to shut up, the game against the Giants is nothing less than a do or die for both theams , why would u want to give the other team some Bulletin board material

Jets coach Rex Ryan wasted no time Monday getting the hype machine rolling for Saturday’s showdown with the Giants.
"I recognize that they’re an excellent football team, but I think we’re better," Ryan said on a conference call.
The Jets and Giants are both coming off disappointing losses Sunday, but that has not taken away from this week’s game. The loser of this game won’t officially be eliminated from playoff contention, but it will deal them a serious blow.
Besides the playoff implications, Ryan will drive the interest in this game – can he back up his boasts or will the Giants shut him up? Ryan wrote in his book that he believes the Jets are the “big brother” to the Giants in the football landscape.
“I never came here to be little brother to anyone. So, it’s on,” Ryan said.
He later added: “There’s no way I’m going to be second fiddle. If we were playing the New York Yankees, I don’t want to be second fiddle to them."
Ryan, who is in his third year as Jets coach, said it is not debatable which team has been better since he arrived.

He got asked which team was better. What did you expect him to say?

Isn't that like Rex bragging that he is thinner than Andy Reid?

If rex ryan farts there will be a thread on Patsfans.com minutes later. Lets let him and his team fall into irrelevancy.

I guess you have not heard coaches in the NFL at the press conference before, no coach in their right mind would say these things leading up to a game which is a do or die situation.as i said in my earlier post
Y GIVE the other team Bulletin board material
Also he is basing his statement on the past two years, wouldnt it be right to aruge that the giants are better SINCE they already won a superbowl a few years back and the jets havent done that in a long long time?

How about:

"We'll find out on Saturday."

(...you can find many similar responses in my latest book, "what would Bill Belichick say?")

If he had said 'They are because they've won a ring more recently' or something then the thread here would be titled 'Rex admits the Jets suck - wheels falling off the bandwagon.'

If he refused to answer the thread here would have been "Rex afraid to admit that the Giants are better than the Jets, etc, etc."

Because this site is too obsessed with the guy.

I dunno, I think Rex is a fantastic coach he's just very different from Belichick but there's no question in my mind he's been more successful the last two years than Belichick has been so who should we be criticizing?

I honestly hope NY gets stupid and runs him out of town and he comes to play defensive coordinator here for a year or two. That'd give me such a boner.

He's a fantastic D Coordinator, he's a so so head coach imo because of the weakness of the QB and offense. And yes I'd take him as our D coordinator in a heart beat.

He is not Bill Belichick.

Not every coach will go to lengths to explain why the Colts this year or the Dolphins in 2007 are just as good as any other team in the NFL.

Normally I do not believe in comparative scores. But if it serves to heckle Rex Ryan and the NY Jets, I'm all in.

The Giants beat the New England Patriots 24-20. The Jets are 0-2 this year to the Patriots getting spanked 30-21 and 37-16. Edge: Giants

The Giants and the Jets both lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the last month. The Giants lost 17-10 and the Jets lost 45-19. Edge: Giants

So how is that "we're the better team" thing working out for ya?

Joe B on WFAN this morning in the Jets yesterday, rios Holmes for being a clown.

I normally think this site is too hard on Rex, but that was an incredibly stupid statement. WTF was he trying to accomplish by saying that?

We must be fair, balanced, objective, and understanding to our now hated bitter rivals, who are the scum of the earth.

Otherwise we would be fans and we don't want that to happen, do we?:D

Anything, "Rex Says", is usually followed by bombasity and bullshyt.

The point is simply that there was an alternative. Your original post implied there was not.

Not at all. Hating him as an opponent and the Jets' coach is always warranted, but when people question his capabilities as a coach... well, the results over the past few years answer most of those ill-informed criticisms. People who say that Rex is not an effective coach are simply wrong.

That said, a lot of what he does and says is puzzling, this latest stuff included. FWIW, I think that he's a great defensive mind, a pretty good head coach, and that he may end up having a fairly short shelf-life, as "players' coaches" tend to have.

Wait! Is there anything that would NOT give you a boner?

The Jets confidence is shattered and Rex knows it which is why he was saying the kinds of things he was saying today. The Giants are going to beat them. Then it's down to Miami for a make or break game which they will lose. Rough times ahead for Gang Green.
