I think Barkley is going to come out. Two Trojans already have. Perry and Kalil. Here's a mock I came up with based on Peyton Manning returning to Indy. And, projecting the final standings.

1. Indy 0-16 to Cleve - Andrew Luck - QB - Stanford
Brownies get their savior. But, it's costly. Both firsts this year and their first next year. Colts have an opportunity to build around Manning.

2. Minnestota 2-14 to Washington - Robert Griffin III - QB - Baylor. First and second this year. And, a first next year. Shanny gets his athletic, mobile qb to work with. A la Mr. Elway

3. St. Louis 2-14 to Miami - Matt Barkley - QB - USC - Goes from one good beach to another. Lucky guy. Fish have to make a splash. No pun intended. Same trade as Washington 1st and 2nd this year. Their own 1st next year.

4. Cleve to Indy 4-12 - I have Brownies losing them out. Putting them in position to move up. Indy selects Matt Kalil - T - USC

5. TB 4 -12. I have them losing out too. How is it possible to get blown out by Jacksonville? Morris Claiborne - CB - LSU. Ronde can't play forever.

6. Wash to Minny 5-11. Have the skins beating Minny for their 5th win. Then they make their trade. Vikes have their qb and rb. I'll give them their LT. Riley Rieff - Iowa. Strongly considered Blackmon.

7. Jacksonville 5-11 Think they beat Indy for their last win. And, pick Justin Blackmon - WR - Ok. St. Some college teams have a better receiving corps than them.

8. Carolina 5-11 Have them winning one more against TB at home. Devon Still - DT - PSU. Have never really replaced K.Jenkins and B. Buckner in the middle of DL.

9. Buffalo 5-11 Have them losing out too. Quentin Coples - DE - UNC. Need a pass rush. He's the best option

10. Miami to St. Louis 5-11 Think the Fish beat Buffalo then deal up for Barkley - Michael Floyd -WR - N Dame
Rams need to get Bradford some weapons.

11. KC - 5-11 Have them losing out. Trent Richardson - RB - USC. Thomas Jones is done. Can't count on J. Charles returning to form.

12. Philly 6-10. One more win against Wash. Worse lb corps in the NFL. Zach Brown - OLB - UNC

13. SD - 6-10 Tough sked left. May not win any either. Balt, at Detroit and at Oak. David DeCastro - G - Stanford. Their ol got decimated. BPA

14. Arizona - Need help at T and WR. Jon Martin - T - Stanford. Considered M. Floyd.

15. Seattle - Landry Jones - qb - Oklahoma. He's a better prospect than Christian Ponder was before you go nuts. And Tavares Jackson isn't the answer.

16. Chicago - Gonna struggle down the stretch. Alshon Jeffrey - WR - South Carolina

17. Oakland to Cincy - No idea how Raiders finish. Cincy picks Dre Kirkpatrick - CB - Alabama

18. Cincy - Lamar Miller - RB - Miami - Cedric Benson is a head case. Can't count on him.

19. Dallas - God awful secondary. Alonzo Dennard - CB - Nebraska. Maybe, Mark Barron - S - Alabama.

20 Tennessee - Luke Kuechly - LB - BC - BPA

21 Denver - Lose to Pittsburgh in 1st round. Dontari Poe - NG - Memphis.

22 Detroit - Vontaze Burfict - MLB - Building a nasty DEF.

23 Atlanta to Cleve to Indy - Got Kalil earlier. Need help at DT. Alameda Ta'amu - DT - Washington

24. Houston - 3 seed. But lose to Jesters Kendall Wright - WR - Baylor

25 NY Jets - Ko'd in Baltimore in the 2nd round
Mark Moore - S - Alabama Maybin is coming around a little. Leonhard is hurt and unsigned. Smith isn't any good

26 NYG - Beat Atlanta but lose at GB - Dontae Hightower - MLB - Alabama I have him at MLB.

27 NE - Fletcher Cox - Miss St - Can play dt in a 4-3 or de in a 3-4

28 SF - Lost to Saints. Zebrie Sanders - T - Florida State

29 Pittsburgh - Janoris Jenkins - CB - N Alabama

30 New Orleans to NE - Nick Perry - DE - USC
I think he's going to be a better pro than Upshaw.

31 Baltimore - Mike Adams - T - Ohio St

32 Green Bay Courtney Upshaw - OLB - Alabama

In the 2nd round I'm hoping we get Robert Lester - FS - Alabama and a wr. Maybe Joe Adams - Arkansas. Can prob run a 4.4 and stretch the field for us. Can return punts too.
In the 3RD a guy like Nigel Bradham - OLB - Fla St.

Terrific piece of work, Brother Penn!! :rocker:

What did you think of the trades? I don't think any of those teams can sit back and wait for a qb to fall. Cleveland can really make a statement to their fanbase by trading for Luck and start to build something.

I believe that such an ORGY of trading at the #1, #2, and #3 spots would be unprecedented...But there IS a first time for everything, as they say!! :D

The Andrew Luck Trade

I like to reference the Eli Manning Trade as a point of comparison. In 2004, the Lightning Bolts swapped the #1 to the New York FootBall Giants for the following:

~ 1st Rounder
~ 3rd Rounder
~ Deferred 1st Rounder
~ Deferred 5th Rounder

Employing the usual formula for Deferred Picks to convert all Picks to 2004 Dollars, we get this:

~ 1st Rounder
~ 2nd Rounder
~ 3rd Rounder
~ 6th Rounder

Of course, not all 1st Rounder are created equal: The Bolts essentially got the equivalent of a 2nd Rounder, a 3rd Rounder, and a 6th Rounder for moving back 3 spots!!

***

Considering all that, and considering that Andrew Luck is by light years a better Prospect than Eli was ~ in my view, anyway ~ then your Suggested Retail Price for Luck may very well be within the realm of reason and reality, as rich as it is, by today's Standings:

#8
#22
Deferred 1st Rounder.

The higher the Pick involved, the farther out the window the Trade Chart gets tossed.

And Andrew Luck, simply put...is worth it.

The Robert Griffin Trade

I can't roll with you on this one, though.

I love Griffin, but you're suggesting that the Skins will surrender a 2nd Rounder and a Deferred 1st Rounder just to move up two spots from #4 to #2???

I can't see it, Homes. ;)

The Matt Barkley Trade

Same deal there, my friend: A 2nd Rounder and a Deferred 1st Rounder, just to move up from #7 to #3 seems far too rich, in my view.

I might have gotten a little carried away. But, two things impacting the return are. 1. There's a rookie wage scale now. Much easier to squeeze Luck into the cap than Eli Manning. 2. There will be teams bidding against each other. And, one or two disappointed they couldn't get in on the sweepstakes. Let's take em in order

1. Luck Trade - Cleveland has to make a splash. I think Washington is picking 5th. Indy can play them off on each other. And, many think Luck is a once in 15-20 years prospect. That will get them their 3 1st rounders from Cleveland.

2 RG3 Trade - Washington really wants him. Shanny is frothing at the mouth. Miami and Seattle both want to move up and get a qb too. Shanny can't be sure which one they want. If he sits at 5. Minny trades with Miami who takes Barkley IMO. If Shanny passes, there are still 2 teams bidding. Both prob .500 next year so they won't mind giving up their first next year too. Shanny's under the same dilemna with the 3rd pick.

3 Barkley Trade - Let's for arguments sake say Washington passes and Miami traded up for Barkley. Makes RG3 available here. Oh, I'll just sit there and get him at 5. Seattle picks up the phone and calls St. Louis. Hey, we'll give you our 1st and 2nd this year. And, our first next year for RG3. St. Louis doesn't want to trade down that far because they'd like to get Blackmon or Claiborne. They call Shanny back up and say. We've got a deal with another team that's gonna take RG3. Shanny can deal with the devil or not get his qb. Teams trading down have a lot of leverage because multiple teams need quarterbacks and they fit into the cap.

I don't think the Browns are unhappy with McCoy so I'm not sure they trade up. If Miami can lose out I actually think they might take a shot at it.

I like Lester in the second. I'm surprised draft scout has him ramked in the 70's.

Disclaimer: I'm not as familiar with the talent you have chosen, and they might be the BPA at the time. However based just on your selections and my positional biases, here are my comments

1. Picking 2 DLmen at this point is overkill - We already have a very nice group of young DLmen who are developing in Deadrick, Love, Pryor, and Brace, Add to them another year or two of Carter, Anderson and Wilfolk, and you have a solid DL regardless of what formation you are running. Adding TWO more high end rookie DLmen, like I said, is overkill.

2. Based on your draft order and who you deem to be available at the bottom of the first, here's what I'd do. I'd end up in the first round with one of Jenkins or Minnefield at CB and one of EITHER Upshaw, Perry or Cox, whomever looks like the best pass rusher of the group.

3. Then your plan to draft Lester and a field stretching WR in the 2nd is right on the mark. Add signing one of the top 3 FA safeties and Dowling coming back with a healthy Chung. Arrington, Moldin and Jones, and I think we have the makings of a fine secondary.

4. Anything we pick up from the 3rd round and below is simply gravy.

I can see the argument that dt is overkill. But, we've got some players at cb too. McCourty, Dowling and Arrington. I think a pass rusher is our biggest need. If I didn't go dt, I'd love to get Kendall Wright - wr - Baylor.

Great effort on the mock.

I do not think two DE's is overkill. Especially given BB's idiotic reluctance to draft DE/OLB types.

I really like the choice of Cox,he had a monster season this year in the SEC.

I really like the Indy trade also. If I were Indy I would holdout for a package like that as well.

And unlike in the old days of astronomical rookie contracts, a trade like that for Luck will put a lot of pressure on the other teams needing a QB to step up which will create an overpay situation.

Best thing that could happen to Washington is to get Luck.

I could easily get behind the drafting of fletcher and perry. FWIW, perry is my second favorite pass rusher after brandon jenkins.

Also I don't think its overkill on the d picks. We need pass rushers and we can't count on keeping both shaun ellis and/or gerad warren. Lastly, myron pryor is overated and could be cut based on his durability alone.

It would be nice if Pryor could replace Wilfork on obvious passing situations. I think Vince is playing too much and wearing down by the fourth quarter.
