I believe we are now looking at the 24 pick because Dallas and KC both were 9-7 and lost. Is that right?

Yes, that is correct. Unless Seattle goest to the SB and then its either 31 or 32.

I believe that Seattle is cemented in at the the 22 slot unless they get to the Superbowl. I don't believe it matters that they won the game tonight.

No. Unfortunately, it's now #24.

I stand corrected! (well actually sit at my computer as I type this apology)

Seattle, unless they participate to SB, are locked at #22.

We had the 21nd spot last draft even if we won a game in playoffs last year. So, I repeat: playoffs, except SB, has nothing to do with draft rank.

That's what I thought. Didn' this same scenario happen to the Pats last year. They were slotted to pick 21, beat the Jags, but lost to the Donkos and still picked at 21.

exactly locked at 22 unless they go to the superbowl

Why would it change? Order of exit from playoffs has nothing to do with picking order.

Yes, it does.

The Seattle pick is #24 now.

(Edit: Here's a thought, though. If the Giants make the Super Bowl, will Seattle's pick go to #23? Everyone between the Giants' current position and #31 would move up, it seems.)

Come on, Hok, you know all about invalid premises ;)
If I told you this morning that the Colts would shut down Larry Johnson and the Chiefs' secondary would pick off Manning three times, would you have believed me? :p

After that and the end of five minutes of the Dallas/Seattle game, I discount nothing.

Not the same. Had NE beaten DEN, NE would have received slot #22, despite the easier SOS (unless, of course, they reached the SB).

See an explanation of the rules here: http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-...ad.php?t=46892

I repeat: playoffs do affect draft rank.

Illogical premises aside :), you're correct, Hok; when a team drops to 31/32, all intervening picks move up one slot.

Time to start rooting for the Giants, then. Not only will it help our draft pick, but we'll be able to beat up on them in the Super Bowl. ;)
