what a ****. i hate him.its worse than a player going to rival team

To be fair, the Jets had a more attractive roster in place. In GB you'd have to brownnose Lord Favre and a BB disciple was never going to do that.

With that being said, Mangina is still a traitor. :)

I did not know this....

"Mangini, the former defensive coordinator under Belichick with the Patriots, was offered a pair of jobs when he left New England last year -- the Jets and the Packers. By going to New England's divisional rival in New York, Mangini betrayed the Patriots, his former boss thought"

I didn't know it either.

I wonder how it is that only this guy (whom I had never heard of until now) has this information. Moreover, it contradicts the fact that Belichick congratulated Mangini warmly when he took the Jets job. The bust-up only came later. That makes me very sceptical.

in NY he had a guy who is comign off surgery and you werent sure if he would be back healthy enoguh to be effective

i would take Favre(age) + Rodgers(future) over Pennington(injury)

Mangini could have done something about Walker..Walker + Driver..a better RB in Green than what Jets have.

defense had Harris, KGB, Kampman, Barnett over Vilma + Ellis who were only "good guys" before Mangini got there

^remember i didnt put in players drafed.

i think GBay was just as good if not better opportunity than New York.

I love how all of you Pats fans call Mangini a traitor. What do you call Bellichick then? He screwed the Jets over first with his little flight North, taking the old man's money with him. Mangini learned it from his mentor. It's easy to forget and be blind to reality.

Go f**ck yourself with a crow-bar.

I've followed football related websites and all the insider correspondents and I never, ever, heard anyone say that Mangini was offered the Green Bay job.
I think this is irresponsible,wishful-thinking by that idiot, the 'Swami".......and should be ignored.

I thought his wife worked in NY.

its a little differnt..Parcells left and he took over for a bit..

i wouldnt mind if BB left and Mangini decided to do same..i mean i would but i wouldnt call it being a traitor

its not like Parcells was still Jets coach and BB went to us and Parcells had to verse a coach hes been with.

All I know is that the ball boy path to an NFL COACHING JOB has since been closed.

I'd chose Pennington over Lord Favre and the shaky Rodgers. Pennington isn't special but he can get the job done unlike INT machine Favre.

Green has injury and fumbling problems and hasn't been playing as a top-tier RB for a few years. Add to that he was a FA this past offseason.

The Jets' WR's are more experienced than the Packers'.

The Packers are a 4-3 defense.

um before this season..in offseason..were Jets not considering cutting Pennington? injury prone..2years in a row the rotary i believe. fumbling can be fixed for Green like Tiki fixed his..Jets had Martin, Houston and Blaylock when Mangini got there..Martin is on IR..Houston hasnt played much and has been hurt too and Blaylock lost his touches to Leon and Barlow..Gado showed hes pretty good last year so Green + Gado were better option imo than injured/old Martin and a 2nd year guy

Jets WRs werent more experience than Packers in offseason..had Walker stayed/gotten extension which Mangini might of done

Driver + Walker = 13 years of experience
Coles + Cotchery = 10 years of experience

Jets were a 4-3 aswell before Mangini..whos to say Packers couldnt have been? Im treating this as if no moves have been made..before any hires..just an open job.

Didn't Walker have bad blood with the rest of the Packers though - Favre in particular? I thought Walker said something to the effect of "I'll never play in GB again," at one point.

Well anyways they were both in bad spots but I think the Jets had the better, more flexible roster. We haven't even discussed the front seven for the Jets which Mangina made almost no changes to (he signed van Oelhoffen). Looking at the Packers depth chart they don't have very many names that stick out on the front seven and a few of the guys on their DL/LB's were either drafted or signed this past offseason. GB probably had the better O-line in place however.

Yep, just like when Parcells was on the phone to the Jets the night before the Superbowl with NE, and him accepting the job. Screwed the Pats right over, right? Took Curtis Martin with him, too. Your sob story doesn't wash in regards to Belichick. What we lost with Parcells doesn't even compare. Karma does come back to you, and it comes back ten-fold. Blobby will NEVER be equaled to Belichick. The Jets will never have what we have. They may try and replicate it, but it will never happen. Your coach is a sniveling, back stabbing biatch that deserves the scorn of a quality coach that had high hopes for him.

with Favre? HELL NO

he wanted an extension..McCarthy didnt want to do anything so he got real ticked off and asked to be released and said he would sit down bla bla bla..if they offered him a contract before he got real angry then it could of easily been resolved.

Mangini made changes on D: Dyson, von Ol..., and made Vilma less effective in 3-4 and tahts why their D isnt that good so either way he had to start a new system to wherever so u cant use that in the arguement.

LOL, he took over for a bit? For ~ 3 hours. Belly agreed to stay when Parcells stepped down. He took 1 million to do so. The plan was in place, but since the old man croaked, he took off.

In any case, I appreciate your civil reply, unlike your colleague above.

I really don't know the truth about what Mangini did or didn't do. Clearly, Belly was pissed about something AFTER Mangini took the job. It seems that he did praise and congratulate him initially. It makes sense that he was pissed about the Branch thing and perhaps Eric was lobbying players/coaches on the plane ride home from Denver. If that's the case, it is wrong and I can't support that. But, reagrdless, I really don't think Belly is a quality human being. I think he's a hell of a coach, but a scummy person.

Nice, mature response. When you don't have facts or a leg to stand on, you always have insults. Thanks for adding further support to my argument, you dolt.

In all honesty, I feel the same way about Mangini. I'm sure there are others who feel the same way. Some more vocal than others, but it is a passion we feel for Patriots football. Just like you feel for the Jets. I'm 46 and I've been a fan since I was 16 years old.

Both organizations have been crapped on, let's face it. In my opinion, we seemed to have gotten the crappier side of it all. I think Belichick would've been more comfortable with Mangini out of the division. Then the thing with Branch, and the media wonders why Belichick gives him an air kiss after a game? Belichick may not be a man of many words, but his actions tell a loud tale. It should be a good game and for both teams let's hope it's injury free.

As I mentioned in a different post, Mangini left the Pats in good terms whereas BB didn't. Jets attempted to publicly corner BB in a situation against his wishes leading to BB's abrupt and weird departure.
