Joseph addae is an outstanding rookie who has the looks of being even better than James was there in Indy-Based on several games this year including this one where Manning was not at his best and needed solid RB performance to carry them.
I am glad we have Maroney RIGHT NOW but may change that view in a few years if Addae plays like he has his rookie year or possibly better,Maroney has yet to play the majority of snaps in most games this year so it will have to wait to compare the two in the next year or two and see if maybe Addae would have been a better pick -Right now its too early to make a call

Also to mention that was one heck of a performance by the Tight Ends of Indy - When 2 tight ends play like that in a game, you really have a good chance to win.

KC is an awful team, lucky to get in the playoffs. If Manning has another game like this (typical INT's) against a good team, Indy is toast. As far as Addai, I've been singing his praises all season, he's been awesome, and though most Pats fans were saying Addai wasn't good, this Pats fan has been impressed all season with Addai. As I said in another thread, he reminds me of a bigger Priest Holmes, he has a nose for the endzone, and seems to know where the first down marker is, as he always seems to pick up a first down on 3rd and 3 or 3rd and 5. Also a fine receiver. Maroney looks to be more of a home run hitter than Addai, but we can't compare the two until Maroney is a fulltime type back, and that might not be until 2 seasons from now (I think he splits the carries again in 07 with Dillon).

Addai and the TE's are fine players, but you have to take into account that defenses are geared towards stopping the two outside receivers. This allows addai to face 5-6 man boxes consistently, and also allows the TE's to work the middle of the field unimpeded.

To my eyes, Addai is an undersized back with limited power and agility, but with above-average breakaway speed. Maroney, IMO, is above average in all areas.

I think this is Dillons last year with us - Especially if we win the SB- Still look for the FO to grab a FB or RB in the draft somewhere in the middle rounds to fill the void - Maroney will be lead back next year barring injury,I think Pass will be back - I don't see Heath here,at least on the roster by Sept..

I think we signed Quadrine "the Latrine" Hill as well. I remember him being a fine lead blocker for Willis McGahee and Clinton Portis at the U.

From what I have seen this year from both Maroney and Addai is when a defender gets in the backfield Maroney has lost yardage and went down easily,Addai seemed to bounce off a defender a bit better for yardage or at least not losing much,However Maroney is faster and can grab bigger yardage with an open hole but contact has brought Maroney down quicker from the films/highlights that I have seen on both players this year - One who is even better in my eyes in his rookie year than these two guys is Maurice Jones Drew - He has looks of a star there in Jax.

um if he was such a good lead blocker he wouldnt be on a practice squad..

KC played pass and soft zone like Peyton said..and they ranked 18th against run..lets not and did u not see holes open for JA? Maroney doesnt get that..and teams dont play pass against us..they worry more about our run

And poster above..Maroney is 2nd in league in YAC..hes been hit a lot in backfield and still manages postiive yards

i like Maroney. If he was in Indy..im sold on him being much better.

idk why people all of a sudden gotta say "Addai looks like a better pick" and Addai is Better at this and that

we took Maroney and its still the right pick. Lets not compare 2 different offenses. Its like saying..well Manning in New England would suck for Peyton b/c he doesnt have Marvin and Wayne. Or Brady would be a 100x better than if he was a Colt b/c the players around him.

Give Maroney bigger holes, call plays that suit him and take the 8 men in box away..and Maroney could be doing just as well if not better

Herm Edwards was the Colts' MVP for this game, but Addai is definitely a close second. Despite his upright running style and lack of lateral agility, he does a nice job in Indy's scheme. Definitely the right kind of back for them. I'll keep Maroney though, personally.

I saw lots of lateral agility, as well as some power. Maurice Jones-Drew was the best rookie in my opinion, but Addai has been excellent, and had a great 1st playoff game. Hopefully we'll be saying the same thing about Maroney at about 4pm est tomorrow.

why not at 1 PM? With a KR or 80 yard run if its a touchback

:ditto:.........

Any running back will look good running against 6 DBs most of the time.

To Addai's credit, he takes what they give him and doesn't fool around, hence his success.

I don't think he's as good as Edgerrin James, but he had the same easy runs.

If we could put Addai on the old Cinci Bengals with no QB for about six years, I'd like to see how he'd do!:D

I think that this is hitting the nail on the head. I think Addai is a decent back, and has played well this year against defenses that are primarily set up to stop the explosive passing game.....and has made him look a little better than I think he actually is. I think in time, everyone will see that Maroney is the far better back and has more diversity....one man's opinion...

Also notice Dominic Rhodes had over 5 yards a carry, 68 total.

Give Indy credit, they've got an outstanding passing offense and know how to make you pay when you overplay, be it James, Addai or Rhodes.

I concur...MJD, Addai, Bush, and Maroney, in that order...but one has to admit that Maroney was the least-featured of the four. The others were either terrific fits from the start or had the offenses tailored to their abilities.

I disagree, Maroney was not the least featured, in fact, behind Addai's 226 carries, maroney was second with 175 carries. Maroney was featured plenty, as a runningback, receiver, and returner, MJD just did more with his touches.

actually he was..

243 touches by MJD
225 touches by Maroney
271 touches by Bush
266 touches by Addai
^run, catch, returns

^Maroney has better Yards After Contact average than any of them..matter of fact 2nd in the league behind Gore last time i checked

Maroney - worse line compared to Addai and MJD
Bush had 88 catches and wasnt much on ground till late season

Patriots playcalling has been questioned this year. We had 8 men in box a lot more than any of them have because their WRs are bigger threats than ours are

Wayne-Harrison
Horn-Colston
Jones-Williams
Caldwell-Brown

^order of duos in skill

so do you expect Maroney to dominate more than Addai when we have 1 guy more in the box..when teams play our offense against run more than they would Colts and when Colts have an OL that. Colts have 5 Pro Bowlers on offense..Patriots had 0.

I watched a game where Tarik Glenn led Addai for some great yardage..arguably a top 5 LT..Saturday is a top center..

look at Addai's stats

hes FAR better going to the left, wideleft and middle

Wide left: 5.7 YPC
Left: 5.6
Middle: 5.3
Right: 3.5
Wide Right: 3.7

so yeah..the 2 pro bowlers show

Maroney:
Wide left: 6.2
Left: 3.5
Middle: 4.9
Right: 3.9
Wide Right: 2.3

Why dont we run more wide left? Maroney's carries mostly come to "left" or "right"..wide left is his best success runs theres only half the amount he does left or right. Wide right we havent tried much..only 6 attempts for Maroney

Maroney needs more carries to outside IMO

Btw forgot to mention.."omg WE SHOULD OF TRADED UP FOR CARPENTER!! HES HAVING A PRETTY GOOD GAME AND DILLON HAD A GOOD YEAR..MAYBE BOBBY WOULD OF BEEN A BETTER PICK THAN MARONEY HUH?

(sarcasm..mockery)

Herm Edwards said before they game that they were willing to lose to Indy by them running the ball and throwing it to the TE's, but they were not going to let them beat them by throwing it to the outside receivers, which is exactly what happened.

Most teams play nickel against Indy for pretty much the entire game, which is a running back's dream. There are some games where teams don't play a down of nickel against the Patriots.

Addae is a good talent but i still would rather have Maroney
