Now is the time when more folks start paying attention to this.....

Patriots (9-3) at Redskins (4-8) 1:00PM ET,

I assume you know why.

Browns (4-8) at Steelers (9-3) Thur. 8:20PM ET,

We need the Steelers to lose one of their games if we want the #1 seed.

Colts (0-12) at Ravens (9-3) 1:00PM ET,

Same deal with the Ravens. For NE to get the #1 seed Both the Raven and Steelers need to lose at least one game each.

Texans (9-3) at Bengals (7-5) 1:00PM ET

We can probably get by the Texans on SoV. But still root against them, anyway. As a bonus, a Bengals win will end the Fish's season (even if the Fish win.)

Chiefs (5-7) at Jets (7-5) 1:00PM ET,

If NE & the Chiefs win...NE clinches the Division. Hats and Tee shirts!!!!!

Saints (9-3) at Titans (7-5) 1:00PM ET,

We have the Saint's first round pick.

Falcons (7-5) at Panthers (4-8) 1:00PM ET,

Falcons are our only hope to deny the Saint's the NFCS.

Raiders (7-5) at Packers (12-0) 1:00PM ET

It is in the team's best interest for the Raiders to lose, because of the second round pick. However, if you have the mindset of Mercury Morris you will be rooting for the Raiders.

Bears (7-5) at Broncos (7-5) 4:05PM ET,

We want the Broncos not Oakland to win the AFCW.

Eagles (4-8) at Dolphins (4-8) 1:00PM ET,

We might have the Eagles' 7th.

Bills (5-7) at Chargers (5-7) 4:15PM ET,

Bills are a divsion rival. Plus nothing good (for NE) can come about if Norv get fired.

49ers (10-2) at Cardinals (5-7) 4:05PM ET,

Keep the Saint's from getting a bye.

Buccaneers (4-8) at Jaguars (3-9) 1:00PM ET,
Vikings (2-10) at Lions (7-5) 1:00PM ET,
Rams (2-10) at Seahawks (5-7) Mon 8:30PM ET,

Marginal reason at best but lower the value of the Dolphin pick.

Giants (6-6) at Cowboys (7-5) SNF 8:20PM ET,

No Patriot interest in this game that I can determine.

A Bengals win will also make the Jets work for the #6 seed......and for the same reason, you also want to see the Broncos and Raiders continue to win as well.(except for next week for Denver,of course)

Is a higher draft pick and hoping the Raiders lose really better than the Jets missing the playoffs?

Yup. I don't exactly fear the Jets in the playoffs. Beating them 3 times in one season would be great, we have never done that to them before.

Actually, from a SOV standpoint:

Eagles v. LOLphins—If the Pats beat the LOLphins in the rematch, a LOLphin win helps the Pats more than an Iggles win.
Bucs v. JAGs—A Bucs win hurts the Texans' SOV.
Giants v. Cowgirls—Pats beat Cowgirls, lost to Giants, so a Cowgirls win helps with SOV.

Root against the Packers... I don't care about the 2nd rounder as much as I care about the Packers not beating out the Pat's 2007 season.

I don't care what the Packers do in the regular season, as long as the Pats beat them in the Superbowl.....:D

I thoroughly enjoy this weekly exercise but I'm not sure the #1 seed is all it's cracked up to be this time around and I'm not sure I want to be subjected to Tebowmania in the playoffs when Carson Palmer is there for the picking so to speak...

I'm more interested in Pats winning out rest of regular season. We can't control what others do, but if we win out No 1 seed is a real possibility. I don't like wanting to play a specific team because it's'da ole "be careful what you wish for" with that said if there is losses by Ravens & Steelers that would help. As for Jets A loss would be sweet just'da fact of putting them 1 game closer to being eliminated from PO.

If it's between the 2nd round draft pick being a spot higher or a Packer's loss, I'm going to take the Packer's loss.

Giants' win keeps them in the playoff hunt for their week#16 game against the Jets. If the Giants lose the next 2 weeks, they likely pack it in for that game. If the Jets lose 1 game, their playoff chances are shaky since they lose tiebreakers to Denver, Oakland and Tennessee. If they lose 2 games, they are almost certainly done.

Cowboys' win improves the Pats SOV tiebreaker against Houston. Could be important in allowing the Pats to clinch the #2 seed prior to week #17 so they can sit key players like Brady, Welker, Wilfork, etc. against the Bills.

I'm inclined to root for the Cowboys since I'm pretty confident in the Pats chances if they get a bye and enter the playoffs completely healthy.

Bears (7-5) at Broncos (7-5) 4:05PM ET,

We want the Broncos not Oakland to win the AFCW.

This is the pick I disagree with with on a number of levels.

First, the NFC team is always my pick in inter-conference games just to hang another loss on whomever from the AFC with 4 to play. Every loss by an AFC team adds to the Patriots cushion come what may.

Second, the Broncos getting beaten at home the week before the Patriots come to visit Tebowtown is a good thing to slow down the momentum

It's advantageous to put a seed of doubt into Tim Tebow, his teammates and ************ his Lord and Savior. I understand that JC is infallible and all, but really! Tim Tebow over Tom Brady? God is not fickle. Tom Brady was the Chosen One long before Barack Obama and Tim Tebow came along. I imagine JC is weighing what it means to have Tim Tebow beat Bill Belichick, however. As a football fan he knows he must select Belichick. But, as He who sits at the right hand of the Father, JC knows you have to take the home underdog on Sunday nights.

It's just not all that easy being God.

Third, the winner of the AFC West is going to host a playoff game, while the Patriots get a bye. Right now that would be the Steelers or the Jets. Where do we want either of them to play? My choice would be Oakland. Longer travel, better overall team, a foe the Patriots have already mastered.

My guess is that the Patriots will destroy the Broncos in Denver, but who needs Tebow in Foxboro in the playoffs?

FYI......Tampa Bay at Jacksonville will only be broadcast in Cuba.......in Fidel Castro's living room.......on his 60 yr old Dumont TV......be there,or be square:)

Good point. I hadn't been looking at the SoV angle. I should have.

Not sure why you're rooting for Broncos, or why you think it's better they win the AFCW then Oakland. If they win this week and then beat us, they're just 1 game behind us (or tied if we lose to the skins) and will have the tiebreaker on us. We already have a tiebreak over OAK so them winning the west has no downside to us.

And as it was pointed out, if the Broncos lose they'll have less momentum going into the next game. If they win, that sets up a huge showdown at Mile high and you know how those usually go for us.

Shouldn't we root for the skins for draft pick purposes?

Uh, no. That's why they called this message board "Patsfans.com" The idea is to root for the New England Patriots and to wish only the worst for every opponent.

This week let's try using whatever mystical powers at our disposal, real or imagined, to bring misfortune on the Washington Redskins and blessings to the New England Patriots. Try this: light some incense sticks and think really hard about getting a couple of starters on the Redskins offensive line kicked off the team for the remainder of the season. Good. Keep thinking.

What's that? Tackle Trent Williams and TE Fred Davis got suspended for four games for drug abuse? Terrific. See how easy that was?

Now try to do something about the Redskins defense. Good. We'll check in with you later.

if they get a higher pick they could trade it for a #1 in 2013 or Trade down for 8 more 3rd round picks lol

Just joking around, just thought it was funny that you say root for GB the most over hyped team in history, that gets ten times the praise we did in our superior 07 run. Sorry but a draft pick doesn't make me support that headache.
