I like the fact that this guy has been around for 8 years and has vast knowledge of playing in the AFC East before he came here.

A question few in here would get would be....
What Defensive Player was second in total tackles to Vince Wilfork in the Pats Colts game?...... Yes its,Nate Jones with 9 tackles - 3 of those assisted in his FIRST game on a NEW team

We might finally have a guy in the secondary that can tackle and not whiff

Even though it was against a 0-12 team,From what I saw, this is a huge upgrade from Adams

When was the last time a guy came off the streets after nearly a 1/2 year and was involved in 9 tackles?....BTW Nate played in all but 4 defensive snaps in Sunday's game which surely means Belichick liked what he saw.

Vince had more than 9 tackles in one game? Jesus... those are otherworldly numbers for a NT.

I agree, but I think VW lined up as more of a 3-tech vs Indy. Obviously, it seemed to work out pretty good.

Not sure if the move was team/week related to the Colts running attack, or if we'll see it again in the weeks to come.

Vince had 10 which tells you the pass rush from the edge was not working and Vince was plenty busy inside.

Ahm...isn't having a high number of tackles usually a bad sign for a cornerback?

It certainly could be viewed that way, depending upon how they were playing him etc.

I didn't focus on Jones, but he always seemed to pop up around the play, so that's good i guess. i don't recall any of our other safeties doing so.

I'll believe it when I see it...

Could explain why Vince tackling people means the pass rush isn't working? That doesn't make any sense to me.

Jones looked good, but it's just one game.

Next were Slater and Koutouvides with seven each, but those don't count since BB was not taking the Colts seriously and those must have been mocking tackles.

14 mocking tackles is pretty good, though...

A DB making tackles? Not good, not good

Actually, thinking about it purely theoretically -- since Vince can be presumed to have made those tackles on running plays, it suggests that the guys on the edge were doing their jobs, inducing the Colts to take their chances inside.

I don't think Nate Jones getting the 2nd most tackles last Sunday really gives any evidence to him being a "hidden gem".

I remember at least a couple where #75 was chasing plays down from behind 5-6 yards down the field because the other guys weren't doing their jobs and couldn't get off blocks.

Well, somebody must have been doing something as they averaged 3.2.

Huh? He didnt get 10 sacks, he got 10 tackles, I'm sure almost exclusively on running plays.

Nothing wrong with a safety making tackles, especially if he was playing close to the line.

Otherwise, I agree on some level.

Way too early.

Normally, I would of flat out agreed, cried beginners luck or rookie enthusiasm and moved on. However BB playing him all except 4 measly downs is of greater importance to me and implies so much deeper of his potential more than 9 tackles and garbage time mop up or special teams or whatever. Also, doesn't 9 tackles from the safety say bad things about your team's Line+LBs, but not the safety himself? I would think it just means he was 9 for 9 making tackles. Now imagine if good ol boy Nate 'The Gem' Jones was 7 for 9 making tackles; we'd be having a different discussion altogether here about him, I'm sure

Anyway I'm gonna check his stats out. 8 yrs in the AFCE too? Never heard of him.
