Not sure if I'm in the minority here, but if the Packers finish 16-0, it may actually feel better for Pats fans.

A. If they lose in the playoffs or SB, we become just another terrific team that couldn't finish it, and an interesting footnote in that another team did the same thing just four years later.

B. If they win it all, the whole aura of the "immortal undefeated team" will certainly die down. I mean, although the '07 Pats were arguably the most dominating team ever, it was the idea of the only 19-0 team in history that made us believe this team would be on the front of every football history book until the end of time. In addition, we will no longer have to hear an explanation about the '07 Pats' failures every time we hear about a team chasing perfection.

C. There's a teeny, tiny chance that the Pats might be able to avenge their loss by knocking off the Pack. Of course, this is risky, because if we lost to them in the SB, which would be likely, it might make '07 sting more. Then we would really be the topic of conversation when it comes to perfect seasons.

Note: Since the '07 season, this Packers team is the third team that could go 16-0 if they really want to. The '09 Colts and Saints likely could have done it (although the Saints did lose when 13-0 while presumably trying), along with this year's Packers. If anything the old CBA and new passing rules enabled teams on top to dominate more than ever before in NFL history. There just aren't enough good teams or good QBs.

Re: If the Packers finish 16-0, I will discontinue my time machine back to Feb 2008..

Since the teams they are facing the rest of the way are all reeling teams basically, I think they will go 16-0. And I'm OK with that. So long as they don't go 19-0.

I agree with points A&C, but not B.

No

I've been rooting hard for them to lose every week.

If another team goes undefeated in anyway, it will twist the knife that much more.

Even if they go 19-0, I will still consider the 07 Pats better but unfortunately the world won't. Their schedule has been ridiculously easy compared to the 07 Pats. Pats had to go through Indianapolis, Dallas and Baltimore ON THE ROAD. Also faced Pittsburgh at home..

The packers are a little ****y IMO. But I wouldn't wish what happened to the 2007 pats on my worst enemy. I almost had a nervous break down days later.Packers fans should just enjoy each game along the way. If they were to lose in the playoffs/SB, that would be the worst feeling in the world.

Re: If the Packers finish 16-0, I will discontinue my time machine back to Feb 2008..

I've been thinking about this, and I agree with the original poster.

If the Packers go 16-0, it will help heal the Patriots 07 season. If they lose, well, misery loves company. If they win, well, then the Patriots really will be an afterthought when the topic of undefeated conversation comes up. Did I just say that (that I want the Pats to be an afterthought)!?! In this case, yes, I hate when everyone refers back to the Pats and their unraveling when it comes to talk of an undefeated season.

Another factor that plays strongly in my opinion is that I do like the Packers. They are a likeable team with some good guys. I would absolutely be throwing up if this topic came up in regards to the Steelers. The fact that they beat the Steelers in the Super Bowl makes me like them that much more.

I hate the Steelers (did I mention that already).

I would agree only because the Colts that year had their best team of the Peyton Manning era. They choked much worse than the Patriots that year when arguably the league's second best team of the decade couldn't beat Billy Volek and the Chargers.

However, Baltimore was terrible that year. Pittsburgh was okay. Dallas started out very good, until we played them. Within the division, who were the Patriots QB opponents on the Jets, Bills, and Dolphins? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Although we think of the Pats as invincible, the Packers have now beaten two good teams in close games, the Giants and Saints, and they led those games nearly the entire way. The Pats were in serious danger of losing to the Colts, Eagles, Ravens, and Giants (they trailed the Giants until the late third quarter.) Nor did they exactly dominate the Jags or Chargers in the playoffs.

The Pats were a great team, but a lot of their 593 points came in absolute demolitions of poor teams like the Dolphins, Redskins, and Bills. They just didn't have a ton gameplan versatility because they had Ben Watson as their tight end. They relied on Welker and Moss to create nightmare matchups, but everyone knew they were throwing the ball.

Well said/typed!

You guys are out of your minds

If the Packers go 19-0 it will make people forget about the Pats choke?

No

It will create an endless Rodgers could do it, Brady couldn't stream of articles and discussions. If you're sick of the Rodgers love now, it will only get worse. All of the 19-0 stuff we'll see will be a constant reminder of what almost was, and it will be absolutely terrible. I can't believe some people would actually want this to happen.

That's just the thing. I actually like Aaron Rodgers and would not be sick if the media had a a Rodgers love-fest. After all, if he can win back-to-back Super Bowls with a perfect season to boot, wouldn't he have earned it.

You do have a good point of how Patriots fans will get a reality of what "almost was" if the Packers do pull it off.

Also, did anyone else find it eerie that the Packers beat the Giants in New York 38-35 to remain perfect. After all, didn't we beat them in by the same score back in 07? Does this mean the Giants will go on another run?

The Giants could be poised for another run. They're very talented on both sides of the ball, and have underachieved this season, mainly by consistently playing down or up to the level of their opponent.

Despite the current losing streak, they can still take control of the division w/ a win at Dallas this weekend. And there are eerie similarities w/ the GB game & the last game of the '07 season w/ the Pats; some Giants have already said that the game, even though it was a loss, gave them confidence that they can play w/ anyone.

This is the only option of the three that would make me feel "better".

That would definitely leave a mark.

If we face the Packers in the SB, I am afraid that Rodgers and Co. will score 50 points against our porous defense.

It seems like there are a lot more bad teams this year.

Rodgers will never draw comparisons to Brady. They play completely different styles, they have never been matched up head-to-head, and they will ultimately play the chunk of their careers in different eras.

like how the pats vs giants game this year also felt like a super bowl 42 flash back, all defense until the final 4th qtr exchange.

weird stuff, as for the future, no idea what's gonna happen.

You can't be serious.

Actually, I am very serious.

I'm sure there were times when Brett Favre was compared to Joe Montana, but it sure doesn't happen much now, does it? Their careers overlapped, by the way. When people talk about Montana, they compare and contrast him to similar players like Brady or peers like Marino and Elway. You don't get many comparisons between Steve Young and Peyton Manning. Or Drew Brees and Jim Kelly.

Brady will likely be out of the NFL in four years; Rodgers still has another eight to ten. When all is said and done, Rodgers will be mostly compared to Favre, and also his yet to arrive rivals. Brady will be compared to Manning and Montana.

The '07 Patriots will not even be relevant in a discussion if the Packers go undefeated, save for a few months.

Re: If the Packers finish 16-0, I will discontinue my time machine back to Feb 2008..

1st of all its quite obvious media is done with Brady and were just looking for someone else. I have to hear from Evan Roberts on WFAN & others how Rodgers has done things NO OTHER QB EVER has done. So Brady's TD/INT ratio with attempts were done regularly? It's a Joke! Notice how Peyton Manning going down this year is an after thought when debates were always Brady/Manning. Let'm be in love with Rodgers BRADY STILL IS'da MAN!

You must not have many Giants fans in your area...or Packers fans, for that matter.

It would be relevant to those two sets of fans: the only one to ruin a perfect season and the only one to pull one off.
