Greg Bedard joined us last night for a very interesting extended interview. I thought he gave us great insight on the defense. Please do take a listen.

Sorry, I tried but you two are just too tough a listen to have to get past before getting to the guest... I really don't understand the fascination with putting yourself out there via podcast that so many fans seem to be intent on these days beyond it's some form of delusional football hubris. Is there like money in it?? Are you aspiring multi-mediots??

Sorry I tried to read this post, but you are just to tough a read before getting to the end... I really don't understand the fascination with putting people down via post that so many posters seem to be intent on these days beyond it's some form of inflated ego. Is there like fame in it?? Are you an aspiring posting superstar??

Vicious cycle, I'd say.

Thank you for at least listening.

I do it because I enjoy talking about the Patriots with my fellow bloggers. I make no money for it. In fact I pay for it. If you don't like listening to me that is fine.

Disregard the show but I do it because I enjoy it, and that is the bottom line.

Best of luck to you.

This is pretty painful to listen to, as I highly respect Bedard, and he pretty much confirms what we all suspect and fear - this team is just not talented enough to win it all. The defense is really just spare parts and the talent we do have cannot stay healthy.

Damien is also totally confused between 3-4, 3-3-5, and 4-3. These designations don't really matter nearly as much as one-gap vs. two-gap. I think what Greg is getting at there is that even in the 3-3-5, they are playing a one-gap defense up front.

What I found interesting is how he broke down why they backed off on a very aggressive style and have gone back to more of the "read and react" defense. It all comes down with the inability to play man coverage in the secondary.

Thank you for listening, and I will continue to bring on guests that I think will give us more insight to the Patriots and their opponents.
