With the win yesterday, it locks in the 11th straight winning season for the Patriots.:rocker:

Maybe this is not a big deal for younger fans, but it is a very big deal for those, like me, who have been fans since 1970 or before.

I know that the Cowboys and 49ers had long streaks of winning seasons. I think the Steelers under both Cower and Noll had a couple of losing seasons mixed in with their great records.

11 straight winning seasons must put the Patriots in the top 5 of all time in this category. I can't look up right now so if anyone has a list of teams with the longest winning season streaks, I'd appreciate your posting it.

Us old school dudes remember when..

Was thinking this morning about in the 70's and 80's used to get the JC Penney and Sears Christmas catalog, and would always look for Patriots stuff.. but in those days the Cowboys, Giants and a few others were kings of merchandising..

Then came the 85 season, and I got my first Pats T-Shirt.. "Squish the fish".. but in reality no one really cares about that stuff..

for comparisons we had 11 winning season in the span from 1979 - 2000.

and took from 1960 to 1986 to get our first 11 winning season.

Many folks here actually believe this means nothing without translating to playoff wins and championships. But a winning season sure makes MY September-December a lot warmer and brighter.

Imagine life as a fan for many teams that are DOA come November. Or, like the lamentable New Jersey Green Beans, haven't even HAD a home playoff game in NINE YEARS! We really should count our blessings.

I was mentioning this to my 7 year old yesterday. Appreciate winning, even in the regular season, because I saw far too many seasons when the Pats didn't do much of that.

It should make the fan experience much warmer and brighter, but that's backfired here over the last 3-4 seasons...

Life as a fan here often feels like we might as well be DOA come November because since 2007 a vocal minority that posts here incessantly doesn't know how to count blessings, only knows how to nitpick or dwell on imperfections either in fear or dissatisfaction or thorough disgust...

I remember those days too:) I remember saying to my mom they don't have any Patriots stuff and my brothers saying it was cause they suck(pecker heads would say stuff like that just to make me cry) But let me tell you who got the first phone call when the Pats won their first Super Bowl :)

Other current streaks (if this season's records hold):

Steelers 5 seasons
Ravens 4
Green Bay 3
Jets 4
Saints 3
Indy - Streak will end this year. Was 9.
Chargers 2 year streak will also end.

Why are we so angry all the time again?

I think 1990-1992 were the bottom of the barrel

I hope it's a long time until this team is in that comparison

Amen. It's great just to be in the conversation EVERY year. I can't imagine being a Browns fan and the season being over by week 6 every year.

It's good to see those streaks but it would also be nice to see some fresh faces in those categories......Looks like Oakland and Houston may be building something in thier teams in the near future.

Some fans have never been close to a Championship and I've been to three Championship parades in ten years. Some just don't know what it feels like to watch your team be in the "STUPOR Bowl" yup I remember a game being called that back in the day.

I'l take this over the past any day. Wasn't there a Pats-Colts "Toilet Bowl" in the 80s or maybe early 90s?

While I'm not dewy eyed over the potential problems we'll have in January, I mostly ignore worries like playoff D and such until that time arrives. Why spoil the present? Posters here are SO afflicted with future dread. Just look at awful threads like kvetching about can we sign Gronk a few years down the road. Enjoy today's winning season.

Houston, sure, but aren't the Raiders referenced in wikipedia as a reference for the phrase "mortgaging the future"?

Exactly! It seems part of our fan base looks for the cloud instead of the silver lining.

Yes, this current team has problems but they are 9-3 as of today. I'm not going to spoil the enjoyment of the season thinking about what might happend in January.

New England Patriots History

From what I can see the longest streak of of winning season that we had before this streak was 5.

Once you get a taste for championships winning seasons are morning coffee compared to the lunch banquet.

Personally, I just like watching Tom Brady play and seeing what the rest of the team is capable of.

what th OP meant to say is that the pats have 11 straight seasons with a winning record.

5 of the last 6 seasons have ended with a loss and the one that ended with a win, the pats were out of the playoffs

kudos for this sound very colt-like

dam....love it :rocker:

Based on that logic your Jets have had 41 straight losing seasons.

Congratulations on your streak!
