tonight on Comcast Sportsnet - said BB tried it back in the Buffalo game, and again this afternoon, trying to see what he has and get the players familiar with playing it....said theres too much mixing of guys in and out, guys cant get familiar with and trust each other....also McCourty cannot play man coverage...

Brown and Law said Pats will NEED to play man to man defense to win a championship...

That can't play man D? No way Troy Brown, thank you captain obvious.

stunning revelation, they've been getting beat in man all year long.

It is that poor talent issue that keeps lurking in the background. I think Devin Mccourty is too short to be a shutdown corner.

So how do they fix this?

That's the conundrum with rooting for the pats. YOu root for them, but you know they can never win it all. Well you hope that somehow they can, but realistically it doesn't seem likely no matter what their record ends up being. I just hope it's not one and done for the third year in a row.

So being 3/4 of an inch shorter than Revis is the difference?

Its that extra inch that makes Revis so dominant. Not his physicality, confidence, speed and awareness but rather that extra inch.

Even if they make it to the SB...they aren't even coming close to winning vs GB

But they can't play man which means not good things to come in jan....hopefully they can try it again but who knows...

I think this year they finally snap the 1 and done which is a good thing..but winning 1 to lose the next is not what i want

Some people on here think we were playing prevent defense in the 4th? How delusional can you be? The defense cant make a stop when they need to, and cant get off the field on 3rd downs. They allow 10+ minute drives to Indy, that happens when you have horrid personnel on defense.

You're a blind homer if you defended this defense today. Sorry, it's reality. And no, they didn't gain most of their yards in garbage time, which I've read a lot today. We're damn lucky we recovered that onside kick. Completely folding in the 4th doesnt equal this fictional "garbage time"

GB is a helluva team but their defense is atrocious.

Dowling and Adams are the only ones who seemed to be OK in man to man this year. Neither are walking through that door unfortunately.

Don't buy the height -- he's as tall as Revis.
He just seems to be a constant step behind the receiver -- whereas good corners can either stay next, or even leave space, to the receiver and undercut him when the ball is thrown.

when you are up 31-3 in the 4th quarter, it is the definition of Garbage time....it was the same thing last week(albight less dramatic) we hold the eagles all game...then in the 4th quarter we play soft Defense as they drive down the field....it looked pathetic, but the colts realistically had no chance to win

we didnt play that way against the Jets, or the Cowboys....so thats why im not Panicking and freaking out.

it's pretty obvious but they're 100% right. If the offense has an off day, we're done.

Pats can score 40..but GB would score 60 on our D

pats also have something the packers dont....a Running game that you can use to control the clock. since the packers cant run that means you can have anderson in there all day rushing Rodgers.

im not buying theres such a huge difference between the packers and patriots defenses...the only difference is that the pack are 12-0 so it hides their warts

lets hope that off day isn't in the playoffs

However..the D did basically win the dallas game for us..O didn't do anything besides the final drive

There's the explanation. Post #1.

If Belichick didn't think it was garbage time, he wouldn't have been using Sterling Moore as one of his top-2 CBs.
