Very disappointed in the defensive effort in the 4th quarter. They guys up front weren't pressuring the QB. The zones were sloppy. As were the jams.. I will say this, Orlovsky and Garcon made some very nice plays.

The game is 60 min for a reason and you gotta play the entire game. You can guarantee that BB is going to be giving the Defense an earful and they won't get the extra day off.

I wish I had this kind of attitude.

I can't help but be concerned about the defense's poor play against the league's worst offense.

You won't win every game by 30 that you should. GB struggled with some bad teams like the Vikings, the Steelers barely beat this same Colts team. We got a big lead and got lazy, not a major concern to me as a game like Pittsburgh where we kept having shots to get back into the game and the D kept giving up play after play.

they wont, the defense took their foot off the pedal because they were leading 31-3

200 of their yards were in Garbage time..Its dissapointing that they wont play full 60minutes, but too much is made of the yards given up when the game was already won...Why Risk injury to any of your players against the colts?

people complain when we run up the score, they complain when we take our foot off the pedal

Running 5 WR sets with a huge 4th quarter lead is taking the foot off the pedal? I thought it was strange (stupid) offensive play calling.

Maybe they were practicing something?

Why do they insist on playing the prevent crap at the start of games and at the end? Last week and this week showed that in the middle of games they can perform well as a defensive unit...then as soon as the 4th quarter starts everyone starts playing off and the linebackers hold back.

McCourty was just starting to come good again before his injury, today he looked a bit rusty so the game time will do him good. Hopefully Spikes, Chung & Fletcher are back next week and the defense puts in a 60 minute effort, not 30 minutes.

The 4th QB to hand them a game this year, and the morons on JI have the nerve to say the Patriots are lucky.

You clearly don't know what the prevent defense looks like. The Pats were not in the prevent early and late.

I wonder why Edelperson wasn't playing the slot receiver or did I miss him?

Then it's horrible coaching if the defense can't come into a game ready or keep concentrating in the 4th quarter and make sure the game is won.

They show it in the middle of games pretty much every week that they can stop offenses, then they just give in once the 4th quarter starts.

I think it was because of Las Vegas. Whoever bet on that Pats can cover 21 pts probably hitting their heads in the wall right now.

exactly, anyone think they are going to play that soft against a good team? they took their foot off the pedal Offensively/Defensively when the game was won.

they stopped giving an effort.

the game was NOT ANYWHERE near as close as the score looked.

BTW: Matt Slater needs to remain on STs,he is not as multi talented as Edelman has shown in a few plays.

Slater was one of the better players on defense today. I agree that he's not as talented as Edelman, but he's better than Sergio Brown.

That being said, I didn't understand the Pats going with him at safety over Sterling Moore, who'd been back there the past few games and looked solid. Heck, a combo of Nate Jones and Ihedigbo would have looked better back there than having Slater there.

The defensive game plan was a head-scratcher to say the least since it seemed they got away from what had worked the past 3 games..

Yeah I didn't see a lot of prevent. I thought both the defense and the offense were still trying to dominate. They just couldn't execute.

I really have nothing more to say than thank you Tom Brady and would it kill the Patriots defense to close out a game and clamp down against an inferior and pathetic opponent?

Once again, could not agree more. This defense continues to prove time and time again that they can not put their foot on the throats of the opponents when it really counts. MCcourty does not look like he is ready to play after coming back from injury....or he just plain sucks...take your pick. We get to the QB....but it was consistently LATE today, allowing him (orlosky in this case) to make a play before taking the hit. Where was Carter? Where was Anderson? Thank gawd for Wilfork and Mayo today. (and Ninko got one) Our LB and DL are getting better slowly but the secondary is still our achilles heel.

The problem is ....when you play a top notch opponent (Pitt, Balt, etc) this defense will not be able to bring it....and the secondary is going to get torched. Starting Slater and Edelman on D is CUTE and interesting, but against TOP teams....they will get broiled.

When you actually can recognize them playing prevent defense, then chime in. Until then, your comments are fruitless.

It's not the coach's fault if the players sit back with a 31-3 lead going into the 4th quarter. It's the players' fault. Particularly the defensive captains. Wilfork and Mayo should be getting an earful from the coaches. And they, in turn, should be giving an earful to the rest of the defense.

a horrible win...let's give it back

Yeah I didn't see a lot of prevent. I thought both the defense and the offense were still trying to dominate. They just couldn't execute.

That's because they weren't playing the prevent defense at all.. Not with the CBs lining up in MAN coverage and getting beat off the line..

McCourty was doing much better before his injury after a few weeks of looking horrible. It's his first game back give him a few games to get up to speed. This is why we're fortunate to have this weak schedule during this rash of injuries we can afford some poor play.

Defense has same ol problems. No pass rush, no coverage, make every jag QB look great. Lots of subs, but they are some of the better players. Anderson and Carter are AWOL. McCourty is once again horrific. Offense continues to struggle running the ball, even against a bad run defense. Not a formula for playoff victories. Heck, they play like they did today and they will get beat by Denver and smoked by Miami.

Let me tell you something, if that defense was NOT in prevent (which for most part I thought they were) then they are in deep trouble. The secondary play would have to be characterized as horrific watching Pierre Garcon make them look like clowns out there. McCourty, Sterling Moore resembling a smoking piece of charcoal with a helmet on......pathetic. If they were not in prevent and that is how the secondary plays....we are in deep trouble. I am happy as sh$t for the win....but this game should not even been allowed to get as close as it did. *(And NO I did not have any money in Vegas on the spread....come on, I am a lifelong Boston fan and know that ANYTHING can happen ;)

Carter was out there getting double-teamed most of the game. Anderson was used sparingly until late in the 3rd quarter. Why? You'll have to ask Matt Patricia.

Edelman didn't see a play on defense today. Slater played almost every snap on defense and was solid, though not spectacular. I have to disagree with your assessment about them "getting broiled" against top teams. In fact, I think that Edelman would do extremely well against receivers on the Steelers or Ravens. Slater, not as much.

The fact remains that Wilfork and Mayo didn't keep the defense going in the 4th quarter. And there wasn't squat for rotation along the D-line, which was disappointing. By Rotation, I mean getting guys in and out regularly so they don't get totally gassed.

How could they have been in the PREVENT defense when the Corners were up near the line almost every snap???

Also, you seem to have missed that their best safety wasn't on the field.

You've become such a negative nancy of late that it's disturbing..
