These are some receivers who would fit their system well

1. Brandon Lloyd: Has experience in an offense similar to the pats when McDaniels was in Denver. The Pats had interest in him at the trade deadline. He' would be the most expensive option out of these 5. Would be the best fit for what their Patriots need.

2. Eddie Royal: Similar to Branch but is younger and has more explosion. Hasn't gotten much of a chance to show what he can do in Denver since Shannahan left but hopefully the Pats see him as a buy low option with a high reward as opposed to the other big name free agent receivers.

3. Plaxico Burress: Not the #1 he used to be but he's been targeted more times than Holmes this year because of the freakish ability he still has. Burress is a great route runner and would take some pressure off of Welker.

4. Anthony Gonzalez: Has not been healthy the last couple years but hopefully the Pats think they can catch lightening in a bottle with Gonzalez. He's also a good fit for the Patriots offense and they had interest in him when he was drafted. A one year prove it type deal could be worthwhile for a talent like Gonzalez.

5. Jerricho Cotchery: People may not realize it but Cotchery is still only 29 years old and would be a very good option for the Patriots on a 1 or 2 year deal.

I'm rooting for Reggie Wayne. Would solve so many issues if the money is right.

pass on Plaxico..

I know it's childish but the guy ended our perfect season..

The only slated free agent they should sign is Wes Welker.

Hell with all these other diva WR's.

Any free agent money should go towards improving the D.

WR Robert Meachem

.

He was a first rounder who got the big contract with the Saints, has a ring and was a HS teammate of Mark Anderson. He has played on a top notch organization with an elite QB and has the speed to be the deep threat missing on the Pats. And he had a big game versus NE in 2009...........He has everything you're looking for.......

i dont like ANY colts WR's, it seems to me that what they are asked to do is extremely simple, and i dont see ANY of them working out here

i like loyd and royal however, especially loyd, but the guy is old

i dont want a possession WR, we need two types, a speedster ala mike wallace and a big wr, ala andre johnson

I'll take Reggie Wayne. BB loves him. He runs every route on the tree.

What about Desean Jackson?
Isn't he slated to be a free agent?

Vincent Jackson is a beast and an a-hole.

Lets sign him.

Oh yea, Wes Weller.

Just about our guys.
They are all trained under Curtis Johnson, one of the best WR coaches in the game. His contract also ends next year. So we are not going to be able to afford to keep all of these guys. Johnsons already receiving college coaching jobs.
New Orleans Saints: Curtis Johnson

We will probably sign one of these guys, but we can't sign both, and if we have to lose one I wouldn't mind them going to the Pats. I know they would fit in just fine there.

WR Marques Colston
Marques Colston*|*Hofstra,*WR*:*2006 NFL Draft Scout Player Profile
Colstons actually 6ft 5 not 6ft 4, same as Graham is reported as 6ft 6 and really 6ft 7, its reported wrong and we don't report it correctly either :)
Colstons in his prime, he's a #1 receiver with 4.4 speed, and can catch the most difficult passes imaginable, its the simple ones he misses once or 2x a season.
Colston, is an unknown monster to cover. Perfect ball security, never open his mouth or taunts, The NFL players rated him very high even though he's not covered much by media, and does 1000 yards every year.
He caught 2 vs Revis for 33 yards , in revises prime, but he was only thrown to 2x.

WR Robert Meachem

Meachum, is showing a 4.39 in the 40 at the columbine, but peyton knew he ran a 4.20 in college, and when we tested him in camp, he did it again. Its why he always runs the reverse for us, he's fast.
He's one of the fastest unknown WR in the game. He's 6'2 but his vertical was higher than colstons at 37 1/2. Drafted in 2007 he's just reaching his prime. Meachum never quits a play, even if intercepted, and he's the 2nd best route runner after Lance Moore.

Either of these guys are capable of being a #1 WR for any team. Meachum hungers for the ball while Colston can catch any gad awful thing you throw at him. Neither are afraid of being hit, Hope that helps

thing is Reggie wayne will be 34 pretty soon. Seems like the type of short term quick fix that will leave us in the same position after a season or two.

The bolded are probably the two I want the Pats to go after most and both could come at reasonable prices. The depth at WR in this years draft is crazy though so I would rather adress it with the 32nd pick or the first second rounder.

Vincent Jackson would be my first target, but the potential new regime in San Diego might pay him. This free agency is deep at WR. Good thing since the Pats will need two or three . assume they franchise Welker and Branch may walk. The only way I see them keeping Branch is if he signs for the veteran minimum and accepts a reduced role. He might do it.

Slim pickings....

Other than Colston (who's got bad knees and would need a very thorough exam), and possibly Bowe, there's nobody really worth getting on the market right now. Jackson and Jackson are both million dollar body/ten cent head type players, and I don't see BB thinking they are risks he wants to take.

Colston
Cotchery
Manningham
Meachem

Devin Thomas/Early Doucet as a possible younger choice would be fine too

Any other WR is not a good fit, in my opinion

Bowe excelled in the Weis/NEP offense. He might cost too much.

Wes Welker deserves a pay day. I hope the NEP give him a fair deal.

Lloyd is obviously the best choice, just wonder what his price tag is.

It all depends on Branch's status next offseason IMO. If the guy has another season(s) at the level he's playing, no reason to pay up for another WR. With Gronk, Hernandez, and our RB's, the #3 WR on this team is not going to be an important position.

Of course this is assuming that Welker will be kept. If he's somehow not retained, we'd have to go hard after Lloyd IMO

Im don't know the true story obviously, but we have heard is Colstons has no problem with his knees. He had a problem with his left biceps femosis. Not sure if thats fixed yet. But the heart is just fine :) Colstons sure money for production, Id be surprised if we don't sign him instead of Meachum, problem is Meachum doesn't have the same catch ability , but he's way more dangerous after he gets the ball.
