Sebastian Vollmer Ruled Out Sunday Against Colts, Chad Ochocinco Listed as Probable - New England Patriots - NESN.com

Patriots right tackle Sebastian Vollmer has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Colts with back and foot injuries, and rookie Nate Solder will almost certainly start in his place.

Linebacker Brandon Spikes (knee) is doubtful after not practicing Thursday and Friday, and wide receiver Chad Ochocinco (hamstring) is probable after fully participating in Friday's session. He was limited Wednesday and Thursday.

Thirteen Patriots have been listed as questionable for Sunday's game

I can't help but wonder if so many players being listed as questionable is not a coincidence, but is a subtle dig at the Colts practice of listing half their roster as questionable during much of the Dungy era.

After the Pats build a sizable lead, Brady can draw Chad's routes in his palm during the huddle, then throw to him.

You'll contribute yet, Ocho!

 He might as well just tell him to run a post route and hope that he knows what that is at this point.

Would love to see some guys get extended time this week like; Vereen, Ridley, Price and Cannon. Maybe even Hoyer.

I wonder how the running back reps were distributed in practice. Will Ridley be in more this week? Will Woodhead and Vereen be limited? Or a heavier dose of the Lawfirm?

I'd like if Chung, McCourty, and one of Spikes/Fletcher is ready for the Redskins next week. This week wouldn't mind if all sat.

This week: Eh, whatever
Next week: Fletcher, Chung, McCourty back would be nice
Denver game: WE NEED SPIKES!

Heh, like that old Bill Cosby skit about playing street football:

BRADY: "Ok, here's the play. You go down behind that 3rd parked car. Rudy, you go down 4 blocks and cut over 2. Bill, get on the 12:15 bus and take it down 5 stops."
OCHO: "What about me?"
BRADY: "You go long.

Is Ocho probable as in playing or in getting laid?

what did spikes hurt again..i forgot

If Solder holds up well vs. Mathis, I say keep him in at RT even when Vollmer returns.

Regards,
Chris

Solder's level of play has been considerably better than Vollmer's level of play in 2011. For mine, it's a no brainer at present.

If Vollmer has a nagging injury, that makes sense.

Vollmer could get 15-20 snaps even so (blocking-TE downs, perhaps FG/PAT unit).

I hope we get to see Thumb this weekend.

Reports are that McDonald might be promoted, so someone might have to get the axe.

he really is impressive. Vollmer is no slouch, but Solder is a talent. Plus, I see him using savvy vet tricks on the field like laying on top of defenders--they hate that--until well after the whistle.
