Jaguars franchise sold: should they move - and if so, where?
By: John Morgan

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver has agreed to sell the franchise. Should the new owner move the team, and if so where? ...

Jersey Shore!

Jacksonville can't sustain a team and a team in LA is inevitable so I would like to see them make the move because i wouldn't want the Bills or Vikings to be the team that makes that move.

Vegas, baby.

I think you are probably right.

Based on the article it seems as though who ever buys would be stuck in Jacksonville until the lease is up. This would be a perfect opportunity for whoever wanted to move to LA as that would likely be a pretty lengthy fight one that could end up in a suburb of LA.

Call me crazy but I think it could actually work here. Make them the Boston Jaguars and actually put them in the city (I know that fight might be harder than LA) and I think they would draw better than Jax and better than alot of the lower market teams. I think with the Pats recent history they wouldnt take much of a hit.

Boston is one of the countries biggest sports markets and unlike all the other big sports markets we do not double up on teams.

Re-alignment would be needed as I would think you would want them in different conferences.

It would be tough for this team to build a loyal fan base as I doubt many jump ship from the Pats but I think they would still sell enough tickets in this town to keep them happy and after a decade or so they would likely have a decent fan base. Most of New England would still relate to Pats but the city of Boston would likely start feeling it.

I cant see Kraft liking this and I know there is basically no chance this would ever happen but I think it could work.

I know many have probably stopped reading as this seems so out there but if you are still reading ask yourself this would you rather take your chances in some aweful market or go to a great market and fight for recognition?

San Antonio has a stadium already in operation and the proximity to Mexico would help.

Also, San Antonio is 250 miles from Dallas and is the 8th largest metro in the nation. Also, Houston is the natural rival.

They would have the same problems as Jax being retirement/military.

If Los Angeles gets a stadium, they are inevitable.

Obviously, the team should be moved to a high-growth market, such as Beijing, Hong Kong, or Guangzhou. ;)

I hope they can stay in JAX. While making money in smaller markets is more difficult, it can be done. Look at Green Bay and Indianapolis. Having lived in Los Angeles, my opinion is that most people really don't care nor want a team. It seems it's more the NFL pushing the issue.

As someone noted, imagine how differently things would have turned out if they had actually drafted Tebow.

What the hell is wrong with people in L.A.? (besides the obvious).

Why wouldn't you want an NFL team? Even if you insist on leaving during the fourth quarter, how can that not be the big ticket in a big city full of entertainment and money?

A good question. The standard answer is the weather and other things to do. Even in SD, which is more of a football town, they struggle to fill their stadium.

I have never understood "other things to do".

Plenty to do in NYC yet somehow people make it to games.

Outside of hoping to see an OJ white Bronco, what are the extraordinary other activities?

Having lived in LA for a couple of years in the '90's, really the only thing the whole of LA manages to come together for is the Oscars. Teams(Angels, Dodgers, Lakers) have fanbases, but they don't come close to involving a major part of the population. It's not uncommon, if you start talking anything about sports, to get a deer in the headlights look, followed by "I don't follow sports" response.

Anything that involves individual achievement(look at me) thrives there.

Its all the drama kids from high schools accross the country and they didnt like sports then.

Me neither. That said, LA is the 2nd largest city in the US. In addition, there are beaches, skiing, the desert, etc very close by. And with the weather nice almost all year, people aren't home bound when it's cold in other parts of the country.

Jacksonville should never had a franchise in the first place. Baltimore was robbed of an expansion team and Cleveland was unnecessarily put through hell for a few years when the Modell took the team to Baltimore. Well at least Cleveland got to keep the team history unlike Baltimore when the Colts left in the middle of the night.

It's official, the Jaguars are moving to Pakistan:rocker:

I've lived in LA since 1996 and I still can't answer this question. The only time I go to games are to see the Bruins, Celtics and Sox when they come to town.

It's true there is a lot to do out here with the mountains, the beach and everything in between within easy reach but I'm not sure if that's the sole reason. USC and UCLA have rabid fanbases so it's not like football is totally ignored.

If and when we do get a team I will support them by going to games a few times a year. I could use a second team to root for but I will never put any team above the team I inherited as my birthright.
