Whats your picks for the 3 worst and best games of NEs 2006 regular season?

The worst and the best games of the 2006 regular season for the Patriots IMO in order of severity were (injuries are irrelevent with these picks-all players on the team are expected to come in for the injured and play just as well,so no excuses)

The Best games were...
1) Win At Cincinnati - Total demolishing of a very good opposing offense
2) Win At Minnesota - The game was so one sided,it was never even close to being a game after the first 5 minutes.
3) Win Vs. Houston - Albeit Houston sucks it was still a one sided affair with no doubt of the outcome known shortly after the first few minutes of the game.

The Worst Games Were...
1) Loss @ Home vs. Indy - Peyton dissected and dismantled the Pats secondary completing passes sometimes almost at will, especially against a tired Defense in the 4th quarter
2) Loss @ Home vs. Denver - Amazing that Denver only won this by 10,The game seemed to last forever and NE never really seemed to have a chance right from the getgo-Total Domination by Denvers front line
3) Loss @ Home vs. Miami - Jason Taylor was so much in the backfield that day it seemed as if he was New Englands running back,Matt Light was a turnstile and the O-Line was manhandled-One of Brady's worst.

Lets hope the Worst is gone for 2006 and the best is yet to come:rocker:

How can you seriously ask for 3 worst games when they had four losses?

Because sometimes a win can be a BAD game..Are you telling me that the game against Detroit was a GOOD game?..As a matter of fact I think it was worse than the loss against the jets a few weeks ago-I think we played better in the Jets loss that for most of the Lions game.
And don't forget the game against buffalo first game of the season,That was a miracle we won that and could be considered one of the worst as well - Wins don't always mean the team played well,They made the most AT the most important time of the game-thats what got them those wins.

I agree with all your best game picks.

To mix it up, im going to pick the Bears game as one of my bad picks. I know they won, but that was a sloppy game full of turnovers, and pats are lucky to have that one.

I agree with all your good game picks. To mix it up, im taking the bears game as one of my bad games, because of the sloppy play with all the turnovers.

Win is a win regardless of how ugly it was. They obviously did alot more better than the other team to win.

Yes that game was bad,but because the Patriots Defense played very well in that game to cause those 5 Bears turnovers it did not make my top 3

Best Win - Vikings [ Because we came out against a very good run D and we had a great gameplan...our D shut down the league's leading rusher at the time and we sacked Bollinger 3x in a row when he finally got in :) ]

Worst Loss - Colts [ Had we run the ball..we could of easily won..our pass D was bad but take out tipped balls --> INTs..then we are ahead by good # ]

All of the four losses were bad, insomuch as , I believe, that at least three of them were there for the taking.

Particularly the Indy game where we were only 3 points behind at halftime, we had already piled up 100 yards rushing in the first half alone, and then for some strange reason...everything changed....

Really, a bad loss, IMO, cause I think that one was right there for the taking.

agree. Especially how much of a rivalry is built between the two. A lost against indy is always a bad one.

A good game that should have tied for the last of the 3 was the Green Bay game which might have even been better than the Houston one..At least we controlled a future HOFer in Favre and not David Carr

1. @Jax-despite no Junior and a depleted secondary, the Pats D played OUTSTANDING-if it weren't for a couple of fluke Jags plays, it would have been a blowout.

2. @TN-the Pats really had nothing to play for, while the Titans were on a hot streak and did, the Pats nonetheless won convincingly.

3. @GB-yeah, the Packers weren't very good, but the Pats supposedly were explosed and left for dead after 2 home losses to Indy and the Jets-they bounced back and kicked butt.

Best Games:
(1) @ Cincinatti -- One of those classic, "No way in hell can the Patriots win this game," games. The Bengals were among the class of the NFL at the time, but 3 hours and 38-13 later, all seemed right in Patriot-Land.

(2) @ Jacksonville -- Kicked the crap out of a physicallly tough team that was nearly invincible (well, except for Houston) at home that had everything in the world to play for.

(3) @ Minnesota -- An ass-kicking on MNF in the Dome when the Vikings were considered among the NFC elite.

Worst Games:
(1) vs. Indy -- Disgusting loss...affected seeding/tiebreakers...a game where New England played so pitifully bad, yet was still a 70 yard TD drive away from tying it up. I still don't get why they got away from the run so friggin early.

(2) vs. Jets -- Never once did I think the Patriots were losing this game. Watching Pennington's lobbed screens travel centimeters over Patriot defenders, watching Ellis Hobbs whiff on the Cotchery TD... Even when it was over, I STILL didn't think the Patriots were losing this game... surreal feeling, one I haven't felt since 2002.

(3) @ Miami -- Always a tough matchup for the Pats, but they just looked so awful offensively. Never got inside the Dolphins 40? Pathetically bad. Probably the worst played game of the year (narrowly edging out the Jets/Colts/Lions games).

Best game this year, Bears win, although there were turnovers that game kept me on the edge of my seat, they came in undefeated and we prevailed. We showed we can play the physical game.

Second best is Jacksonville, went into their house and despite their vaunted d we scored 24 against a team that gave up something like 9.5 points.

Third is Minnesota, by bro in law is a huge Vikings fan, just to beat them in their house was a good one for me.

I'm surprised the second win against Buffalo is nowhere to be found in the top wins category.

the best win for me was against Chicago, the worst one was the loss against Denver (i would have loved a pay-back...)

but the best overall, i hope, will come...later on...

1) Chicago
2) Cincinnati
3) Buffalo (away)

1) Indy
2) NYJ
3) Denver

The only truly horrible game was the Miami game (I didn't even watch the fourth quarter, very uncharacteristic for me). I thought one of the better games this year was the 2nd Buffalo game in Buffalo. We were very dominant during that game and the Bills turned out to be an okay team this year.

Really, a bad loss, IMO, cause I think that one was right there for the taking.

I thought the 2nd half was much better defensively, they actually slowed Manning down. The offense was the issue in the Indy game.

The first half Brady forced a long throw that was intercepted in the end zone.

Not necessarily. Wasnt there a game this year where the winning team had like, 5 yards passing.....

Most of the time your statement rings true, but there are always certain circumstances where the BETTER team does not win.

Would we say that applies to the 2001 Rams? Or were they not the better TEAM.... they were the better collection of players.

I think they were the BETTER TEAM on that day. Hence any given Sunday.

But what makes the better team? Is it one performance? 75% of their performances or 90% of their performances? If a team is inconsistent how are they the BETTER team?

Best Game

VS CHI - best victory of the year; even with our lack of wide receivers, we were able to beat a great defensive team; it showed we could hang with the best in the league and beat them; sure, we had five turnovers, but I think that was a result of the Bears great D and not our miscues

AT MIN - I believe Minnesota was like 4-2 at the time and many of the national media guys actually predicted them to win, and we just DISMANTLED them

AT CIN - many doubts arose after the home loss to Denver, there were many uneasy thought about going to Cincy when they were 3-0 and coming off a big victory in PIT

Worst games-

BY FAR AT MIA - did we get past their 40 yard line? nuff said

VS NYJ - let's see, we lost 17-13 and.....
1.) 3 of the points we lucked out in getting b/c a Jets pick was negated with a questionable roughing the passer call
2.)we didn't score our first TD until 3 minutes were left in the game
3.)NY beat us up with two drives of 15+ plays, killing the Pats and the clock

surprise, next worse game was VS MIA
I know, I know, we actually won that game, but consider how we won. Our only points came off Asante Samuel INT's. Our offenses did zilch that day. The dolphins were a pathetic team coming into our house, and they made it very tough for us.

I agree with all of your picks for best/worst. That Jets lost wrecked me for days - ask my wife!
