Tough call. I might pick the Ravens or the 49ers.

The New England Patriots, imo.

So, you are picking a Joe Flacco or Alex Smith team?

Yikes.

Steelers, Patriots, or Saints. All are roughly equal when you take their flaws into account, although the Patriots defense is the most glaring flaw of all three teams.

I'm not buying into the 49ers....it's a great story and all but their offense will come up short when it matters.

Ravens have some bad losses and their offense can be horrible,Saints have some bad losses,Steelers barely beat the Chiefs, have injury concerns and got swept by the Ravens, Patriots have their issues.

There really isn't a clear no.2 right now.

Patriots are gonna be trending upwards as we get healthier and thanks to the soft schedule.

What I can't wait to see is the Saints-Packers NFC championship game.........

Hopefully the Pats can make the SB and whoever emerges from the NFC will be exhausted from going thourgh the 49ers and then the Saints/Packers.

If I was making the list after this week it would be...

1. Packers (In the immortal words of Willie McGinest, "you have to beat the Champs to get the title, and we are the Champs, and they forgot that").

2. Saints

3. Baltimore

4. Steelers

5. Pats

6. 49ers

I have a hard time believing anyone outside of this group will be in Indy. The Ravens and 49ers have the same problem, their respective QBs.

I give Saints the edge over the Patriots.

I'm not sure if you can put GB at number one as far as "teams" go. We have yet to see what happens when Rodgers has a game without a 120+ passer rating.

Pitts I don't think is as good as their record looks, Baltimore has some questionable losses (but good wins), Texans will probably fizzle without Schaub.

You might want to look at the 49ers who still have four divisional divisional games left against the mighty Rams, Seahawks and Cardinals. I wouldn't be suprised if they finish 14-2.

The more appropriate question to ask is who are the top two in both conferences?

I pick the Pats and Ravens in the AFC; and the Saints and Packers in the NFC, in that order. Although the top four might be Saints, Packers, Patriots and Ravens each confernece produces only one SB contestant, so its irrelevant.

That would make for a Pats vs Saints Superbowl in Indy. I would guess in that game, the Vegas line would be a slight favorite to the Saints.

Frankly, the Pats and Packers defensive yardage yielded cancels out the significance of that stat, in this defenseless by rule, NFL.

49ers have only beat the giants, bengals, and lions, i'm definitely not sold on them yet.... especially with Alex Smith as their QB.

i would add a seventh team, the falcons in this, and then I would agree

The Packers are the 2nd best team in the NFL right now.

The Pats are #1:D

Top 5 teams in this order, based on actually watching games the last few weeks, and not just standings.

Patriots
Saints
cowboys
49ers
Packers

Perhaps a better question would be which team matches best with which team.

I would rather play Green Bay than New Orleans but I don't think the Saints are "better".

I also don't think Green Bay matches as well in Green Bay in January with San Fransisco as with New Orleans.

The only team that is of concern in the AFC is the Jets.

With a better play at QB,The Ravens are the 2nd best team

I still think the 49ers are going to rely on the legs of Gore,Once a team shuts Gore down they will be toast

I still think the Saints D is not all world so if anything they are in the same boat as NE,Its offense or bust

Yep, this. Only a few more months before the Pats get to prove it:rocker:

The more I think about it, the more I want that matchup.

And I want the Pack to be favorites.

Heavy favorites.

I just want to be number 1 in the AFC, the number 2 spot can be decided in Indy.

You mean the same Steelers team that got beat by the Ravens twice, once in a blowout?

IDK how the Patriots could be above the Steelers when the Steelers beat them and did it without both Ward and Harrison. Saints are good but they did lose at the Rams who had not won a game. Out of those teams though I would say the Saints are the best one right now.

The 49ers have only two losses, one was at the Ravens on a short week going across the country, the other they were one play away from beating the Cowboys. Also, they are good on D and can run the ball. I am not sure how they will fair in the playoffs, right now though they are one of the best teams in the NFL.
