Could Andy Reid and Bill Belichick Team Up Next Season?

So you don't consider what he did in Minnesota and Tampa to involve being good with X's and O's? I just want to make sure I understand what you're saying.

Across the board?? No. Bill can run or deconstruct any defense or offense for that matter. Dungy knows what he knows. Which is why the Colts mantra was do what we do...they had no other choice... Manning on his own eventually figured out how to beat Bill's myriad defenses with some consistency. Dungy was just along for the ride. His biggest contributions were getting the most bang for Polian's bucks out of a Tampa 2 defense and stabilizing an organization that as I said had some egos clashing on the heels of Mora's classic meltdown...

IF Reid gets fired, I think he has enough of a reputation built up to get another HC job if he wants it. I don't think he needs to go the coordinator route like a lot of guys do to get back there.

In fact, with Del Rio gone, he might be a great fit in Jacksonville. The Jaguars are 4th in yards allowed and 5th in points allowed, so the defense is there. They need someone to tutor Gabbert and get that offense rebuilt, which Reid just might be able to do. And now is the time to try to take charge of that division, with the Colts' QB future in question they no longer have a choke hold on it.

I would rather see Del Rio as DC than Reid as OC

But that was Andy's hand picked candidate... And what transpired just underscored both the stubborn streak and the inability to step in and fix his mistake.

I'll clarify, Eject Reid and his bad decisions, Jaun and Vick are at the top of that list. I understand giving guy's a chance at a new start but biting on that contract was a bit to premature.

The egg thrown in the 4rth quarter for an interception against GB last play-off game summed his career, a big bust.

agreed with your comments, spot on imo

Bill employs the same ground rules for coaches as players, have to check your ego at the door and keep your mouth shut... Never gonna happen. Mangini will return here first...and I don't think that's gonna happen in my lifetime.

WOW! I can't understand the hate for BOB. I'm not sure, but in the 2 years that he's been in control of the offense haven't the Pats had either the best offense in most categories, or at least been in the top three. How exactly would ANY new OC make it better?

The Pats run a rather unique attack that has evolved from Weiss to McDaniel, and now to BOB. Its the ONLY system that Tom Brady has ever known, and there is no question that anyone is going to change it at this point. So the end result would be that any new OC from the outside would have to learn OUR system rather than establish their own. What would be the sense in THAT!

Besides Andy Reid's best quality seems to be developing QBs. He must have done a miraculous job with McNabb, given his total lack of success after he's left the Eagles, and the job he's done with Vick and Vince has been apparent. Reid's he guy who you go to if you need to improve your QB situation. That's not a need here......obviously

Remember the same people who complain about BOB, are the same ones who were ready to capitulate three minutes into the Eagle's game. Not one of your better concepts, Derek.

I think Reid would jump at a chance to come to Foxborough. The Krafts throw a nice lunch spread and I know Andy would love Prime Rib Thursday and those lobster roll appetizers. If he can sneak McCoy out of Philly, all the better

The likelihood of belichik making Brady learn a new offensive system with new terminology is zero, they have deliberately maintained the same basic system for his entire career and there is no way Belichik will change that to bring in any coach. The coach has to learn this system, it isn't being thrown out for anyone.

No, he won't be here. He has a HC gig and the top QB prospect in a long time waiting for him in Indy if he gets canned. Reid brought his team to 5 NFC championships and a SB, he's great with quarterbacks, and easily one of the better coaches in the NFL. His hob is only at risk because he plays for the ****tiest fanbase in the history of professional sports.

Philly is a disgrace to my state. McNabb was one of the classiest players in the NFL, brought Philly the most success it had ever seen, and he got run out of town.

Besides, our offense is just fine, BOB isn't an awful OC by any means. The slow starts are probably more on Brady starting slow, hopefully only because of his injury, but his accuracy is somewhat off early. Brady also has full liberty to check into any play he wants if he doesn't like what he sees, BOB gives the initial play, Brady can do what he wants from there.

I'd rather bring in a good DC at let our undermanned coaching staff get back to what they do best instead of having multiple jobs each. I think a good defensive draft and a good DC will allow us to become more than a 'bend but don't break' kind of D that sometimes ...breaks.

No, I just don't see BB making such a move. If you haven't noticed, most of Bill's coaching staff is part of his own tree and has been for years. He is not going to turno another HC for an assistant.

If Andy were fired, I could see Belichick finding a Coaching home for him for a year or two before he got another head Coaching gig.

After all he did that for his friend the ex-head Coach and and current DC of the Packers, Dom Papers.

Hell, no.... He's been a glorified OC in SD and ultimately that has been their failure... Honestly, I don't get what some of you think you see in these failures...

Wade Phillips was one of the worst, most clueless head coaches I've seen, but he has been a hell of a DC for the Texans.

Some people just suck as HCs.

Reid working for $100,000 to be an assistant here? No chance.

Capers was pretty much toast after bombing out as a HC in Houston and then as a DC in Miami and he needed a place to regroup because no one was hiring him even as a coordinator. Reid has been making millions for years. His ego won't allow for a step back. He isn't the made for TV prototype like Del Rio or Dungy or Gruden or Cowher so he will go the sabatical route like Shanny and wait for his next shot if it comes to that because he can afford to. Might be best for him, too. Not sure what condition his family is in these days but he looks rough and probably could use a break... I don't think the break did Shanny much good though. Sometimes when these guys burn out they are just done.

Anything's possible, but I don't see this happening. BOB seems to be fine running the offense, but not ready for anything more, so I expect that he'll be back.

While we are at it, after the jets fail AGAIN. Lets get Rex over here as the DC

I'd welcome him with open arms. If the offense has another pitiful offseason effort this year I'd say its quite obvious the team needs a legit OC.

Why do you not consider Dungy a good X's and O's guy? He seemed to me to be a very good D Coordinator. At Minnesota, his defense was ranked #1. He turned Tampa around, mostly thru defense.

Tony Dungy invented the Tampa 2. He'd be a great defensive coordinator in NE, but I doubt Mr. Kraft could pry him out of that TV chair. He's lovin' analyzing all the other coaches' mistakes and being the graybeard.

I believe that if this actually happens, it would be great. Never the less it will not happen.
