Late in last Sunday's game, Eagles fans were chanting ?Fire Andy.? While I do not believe Philadelphia should fire Andy Reid, if they were to let him go, should the Patriots be interested?...

After being a HC for so long, it is difficult to imagine Reid being comfortable having to answer to a HC.

Would Reid wan't to make major changes to the Pats offense, and would he be allowed to? Unless Reid feels he is done being a HC, he would probably be in demand within a years time, which would leave the Pats back a square one.

I have never gotten the Andy Reid love. Bill says he's a good coach. Probably does know a lot more about x's and o's than say a Dungy, but his niche seems to be rehabbing bad boys, although his track record is actually spotty. His teams aren't particularly accountable or disciplined. His defense has been crap despite all the expensive talent ever since Jimmy Johnson passed away. He is loyal to a fault and that goes from QB's to OLine coaches turned DC... His clock management is legendary. He has an odd way of both undercutting and stubbornly backing his talent. He let Donovan talk him into TO and then let the two of them tear each other and his team apart.

The media used to talk up the Big Show (Holmgren) and Shannahan in a similar vein. And even Fisher. Never got it there, either. I think Eagles fans while obnoxious were onto something a while ago. Hard to pull the trigger now with money invested in Vick though... They were right about McNabb, too. It also gags me when the media claims similarities between this organization and Lurie's. Other than an owner who grew up here, there are none.

Reid won't go back to coordinating or being someone's assistant. We already have an assistant HC. And I wouldn't want him anywhere around my offense, he ballaxed his own for years because of stubborn ill conceived convictions. He's such a genius his teams can never get over the hump...

As far as OC, I only know what he's done as a head coach and that's been pretty good with the exception of Vick and a bunch of other things. lol

Two reasons.

1) I doubt that Reid would play second fiddle to anyone, especially someone who is as control-oriented as Belichick when it comes to his D, when he will have opportunities to run his own show again either in the NFL or in a major College program (Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania and I'll let you figure it out. Hint: think major college program in Pennsylvania in a lot of trouble and looking for new leadership).

2) I'm really not sold on Reid either as an X's and O's guy at BB's level or as a motivator; personally, I'd rather have Romeo back.

Why do you not consider Dungy a good X's and O's guy? He seemed to me to be a very good D Coordinator. At Minnesota, his defense was ranked #1. He turned Tampa around, mostly thru defense.

Considering that reputation, it's amazing the LeSean McCoy is the leading rusher in the NFL.

Never understood why Reid in particular was so worshiped by the pundits.

if the Eagels Do fire him he will get a HC job in days by some team ( Vikings, jaguars, ) and what would he do here he runs a west coast offense, IMO he takes the year off and then picks a team he can win with

Dungy knew what he knew, Tampa 2. He was a glorified DC and a figurehead HC whose main job was to motivate and maintain an even keel in an organization with lots of big egos (Polian, Manning). He inherited that offense and the men (Manning, Moore, Mudd) who ran it and he stayed out of their way essentially while coaching up the inexpensive defense Polian needed him to to facilitate that offense... But even then, as with the whole outfit, they only barely managed to win one largely because we faltered in the second half of a conference championship game Vinatieri had kicked the Colts into and that left them to face down the mighty Rex Grossman led Bears we had pummeled earlier... He couldn't get it done in Tampa either, although ADHD Gruden was able to get them over the hump the following season before totally unraveling in a sea of egos (his own included).

Gruden is another guy who knows his **** (despite acting like an idiot on TV) but I wouldn't want him within 100 yards of any segment of my team. I remember watching a program once where he was supposedly coaching the QB and offense...and it was as if his goal was the make or break young QB's and receivers by verbally abusing/confusing/demeaning them...

Bill said this week he's a tough man to work for. I don't think that is truly the case. He demands effort and accountability, but he also protects his players by keeping everything from criticism to praise to discipline in house. Guys who get it flourish under him. And they will tell you you always know where you stand. Just don't expect him to tolerate foolishness or blow smoke up your skirt. The tradeoff is unlike most of his so called peers he will never publicly throw you under the bus. If you land there it's usually of your own doing...

So you don't consider what he did in Minnesota and Tampa to involve being good with X's and O's? I just want to make sure I understand what you're saying.

Philly's in PA, but State College is in Pennsyltucky.
