Molden Was Beat But VY Gave Him a Gift

That's because many around here are getting really really sick of the neverending misery and negativity of other Patriot "fans." Crapping on a bad team makes some sense, crapping on one that has been winning at almost 75% for the last 10 years is beyond stupid and really tiresome.

Just as many people are tired of the constant whining about anything remotely negative, and the insistence on trying to turn even the most negative things into positives.

This sort of thing works both ways.

This video from the stands shows that Molden was clearly beaten but Vince Young just thorew it short and behind his WR.

You are way over critical her Shmess. But in one sense you are right if VY had thrown the perfect pass like he did earlier, it would have been completed......just like every other pass ANY QB throws in the game. There IS no way a DB can defend a perfectly thrown pass.

However, after looking at the clip several times I think played it perfectly. I would contend that he was in man coverage on the WR and his proper technique would be to play the man from the underneath position with expected help over the top from the S. If you want to criticize someone, look at the S. I would say he was a bit late getting over there

BTW-what would YOU say would have been the correct position. If he stayed deeper than the WR, then he''d never be in position to cover ANY back shoulder fades, deep hooks, or in cuts, By playing the "under" position he's be in much better position to cover those 3 routes, and like I said before there should be S help over the top, but whoever the safety was on that play (I think Moore) didn't get deep enough in his drop and was a bit late breaking to the sideline.

BTW- in the long pass to Cooper early in the game. I've see replays and if you notice Arrington COULD have stayed deep the Cooper, but decided to be aggressive and by choice undercut him to take the inside position, and was beaten by the perfect pass. Anything less, and Arrington would have had a pick. If you get a chance to see a replay of that play I think you'll agree with me.

Riley Cooper got lucky as Arrington was in position to make a play if only he had extended his arm and looked for the ball. He was right there.

I thought it was neat seeing a big play from a different camera angle.

Can't someone make an observation based on an in-stadium camera angle that was not available to the TV viewers?

Wasn't making a point about the game in general. Just that a different camera angle can put light on a particular play. I thought it was pretty interesting.

Ease up, Frances.

Molden is playing the correct trail technique in a cover 1 look which is exactly why he got the interception! He is responsible for the underneath and the high safety is responsible for over the top help.

You will see the single high safety look (top of the screen with corners in press, and that we are in a 44 reduced stack (middle backers in 40 tech), but the important thing to notice is that the play itself is a well executed play action which is why Moore as the SHS gets such a late start on trying to get on top of the play. Nobody made any mistakes here except Young, but if you were to nitpick, I think Moore could have broke as soon as he saw Young look strongside, because Young isn't going to play sophisticated football and trap you with fake looks like Brady does.

LMAO, i guess you don't like it when people point out that you are acting like a b.tch. They win 75% of the time and they have won more SB's than any other team the past 10 years, there is NOTHING to b.tch about and the constant pissing and moaning is disgraceful. Belichik has kept the team on top while replacing a dynasty around his QB, it doesn't get any better than that. They have won 22 of their last 27 with a playoff loss and all the b.tches can talk about is how much they suck.

I agree his coverage was pretty good, of course a safety should have been closing.

Still find him to have been very awkward in coverage previously, compared to any of our no namers except maybe Sergio Brown.

I'm an Adams booster until i see a reason not to be.

Could we have a decent safety threesome once Chung's back? Could be. Just goes to show the coaching ability of BB when he's determined to find guys who will do it the way he wants in the secondary.

Opinion that's always in one direction, when such unanimous acclaim is clearly unwarranted, is useless. Also, you're crying about the so-called never ending negativity yet, when I simply point out that it works both ways, you go after me personally. Look to yourself rather than whining about others.

BTW, a quick glimpse of the front page shows plenty of positive threads, including one about Edelman one about Ninkovitch, multiple threads about Brady, a thread about the "scrubendary", one about the defensive scheme and another about players exceeding expectations, just to point to some blatantly positive threads.

I agreed at first, but looking at it again, the coverage was actually pretty good. Jackson didn't have enough separation for VY to float it over his outside shoulder (which it looks like he was trying), and there was safety help over the middle. It would have taken quite a near perfect pass to get it in there. But hey, if every pass was perfect then every game would be a 60 point shoot-out.

Molden turns around and looks for the football. If that was Sergio Brown, he would have ran over the wide receiver.

I'm guessing those threads must have been posted by those you call Jonestown Nation."

I'm a realist, I don't consider the Patriots the best team in football just a contender, I think Belichik was outcoached in at least 2 of their last 3 play-off losses and that the patriots deserved to lose to the Giants, I think Belichik's draft record is mixed but he still manages to find players that he didn't draft to play well enough to keep them at the top of the league, and i think this year's defense is mediocre despite getting pounded by injury, which is actually a pretty good achievement. He's rebuilding a team for the rest of his QB's career and doing a good job of it, and it is the cynics who are way off base and essentially full of sh.t as they, you included, just rip rip rip away at how much they suck and how those who support them are just toadies who smile blindly at obvious failure. I really don't know how people can look at a team that wins this much and always be unhappy but i guess that is just the way you guys are built, a shame you feel you always need to share it with everyone else.

Keep on being miserable if that what makes you happy.

You call thousands of Patriot fans who are positive about this team "Jonestown" and then take offense at being called a "b.tch?" Gotta say, that's pretty b.tchy.

I'm just curious deus, why is it you believe that you can call those patriot fans who are optimistic about the team and happy with the way they have played the past few years "Jonestown," and "Kool Aid Drinkers, etc... but you should be immune from responses critical of you?

Perhaps you shouldn't call people ballwashers if you don't want them taking shots at you.

Both your claims are misrepresentations of what I've posted. I took no offense to you comment. I noted the incongruity of it given your whine. As for the "thousands...." I've called out some small number here who almost never see even the most obvious issues as anything but unicorns and pixie dust the "over the top" homers, etc...

Most people are more willing to see the warts on a team. The interesting aspect of your post is that you're crying about people who take the time to post about their favorite football team on a messageboard as if they fail some purity test of yours. I've got news for you: you're crying about some of the most passionate fans the team has, just because they aren't willing to buy into every "Darius Butler was a great pick!" thread.

And, once again, you misrepresent what I post. Shocking.

Damn it.

I'm done reading another potentially interesting thread after only one page, yet again.

Someone brings up the rational argument that we've been fortunate play a string of backup/sh*tty qbs and that it's important to remain cautiously optimistic that our defense is improving as much as it looks like it is.

Another valid point is made that it even though some plays we made on Sunday were by the skin of our teeth and could have gone the other way, revisionist history week by week isn't a fair way to look at games and we did actually make those plays.

You'd think some interesting discussion would ensue.

Instead, both sides get pissy and it becomes an argument about how spoiled our fans are.

Sweet.

I gotta admit...I wanted Maroney to succeed...in a big way...held on to THAT homer stock far too long....if that was worth real money I'd be working in an urban MickeyD's....instead of slinging hash at Ackbar's House Of Turkish Pancakes....:ugh:

You're a trip, Joker. :D

We all have our players that we like and like less...that's completely understandable.

I was a pretty big Hobbs supporter (not as a CB1, but as a CB2 or 3), and hated when posters would bring up how bad he sucked, even though he kind of did as a CB1.

I hated losing David Givens. If you were to talk to me back then, I'd have convinced you that he was the second coming of the best possession WR alive!

I'm also pretty solid with Dan Koppen as our C for the next yr, even with a likely high draft pick (1-3) at the position. I think Koppen has earned himself a lot of deserved respect with both Brady and Belichick, and is important in our offense; yet the majority feel as though he hasn't been worth a damn in at least 3-4 years.

I was a huge supporter of BJGE, when so many claimed he'd "never possibly" make the team, and even after he did "he'd never see the field anyway."

But I was NEVER, and I mean NEVER...a fan of Laurence Maroney

References to "Jonestown" shall be replaced by "Branch Davidians" in the future.

Regards,

David "Waco" Koresh
