What's the Over/Under that Brady plays the second half???

Never bought into the concept of a "trap game", the Patriots tend to the level of competition and do what they need to do to win.

I suspect that the Indy game will be somewhatclose, but we will win.. and then next monday will hear the echoes of "yeah but" or "we should've lost".. but in reality nothing really matters except winnning..

It won't be close...

You never know, by throwing yesterday's game to the woeful (12-straight road loss) Carolina Panthers yesterday, King Polian has accompished his ultimate goal this season, the "Tank for Luck" quest is complete. Yesterday's Colt rollover has guaranteed themselves the top pick.

With that said, Polian has to make this look good, so he may actually want the Colts to "try" in this game so that no one suspects that he was tanking on purpose.

It seems to me that if the Colts beat the Pats then it will be obvious that they were purposely tanking earlier games.

I agree with your premise Of a "trap game". If you don't play well you can lose, even to the Colts.

:D......the only way this is a "trap" game is if half the team gets lost behind trap doors or stuck in a bear traps and can't make the game.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but how have the Colts guaranteed the number one pick? With five games left, couldn't a team like the 2-9 Vikings lose out and with a little *luck* the Colts win 3?

I think Bill Polian is worried that it might be a trap game too. He has already issued his Friday injury report:

Reggie Wayne OUT
Pierre Garcon OUT
Dallas Clark OUT
Joseph Addai OUT
Dwight Freeney OUT
Robert Mathis OUT
Austin Collie OUT
Antoine Bethea OUT
Pat Angerer OUT
Adam Vinatieri OUT

Polian also made an emphasis to announce that Jim Caldwell will definitely be in charge of all in game decisions.

C'mon, the Colts are trying to "Suck for Luck". I would be surprised if this is a game in the second half.

Trap game? I'm sure BB can come up with better than that.

"when they hit receivers they can move the ball effectively"

"they've stopped some tough teams on downs"

"you have to work for everything in the NFL nothings given to you, I'm sure we'll get their best"

"that QB's shown he can run an offense, that's not easy to do in this league"

"when we play this team it's always a battle, this year should be no different"

The Colts have a league worst 108.6 defensive passer rating. Their YPA is second worst at 8.3. They are tied for the least interceptions at 5.

For comparison the Patriots "worst passing defense in the NFL" is at 84.1 QBR, 7.9 YPA and has 16 interceptions.

The two reasons people aren't talking more about Indy's epically bad defense is because it's over shadowed by the suck for Luck and Peyton being out and secondly the Colts have been playing a ball control offense limiting the number of attempts other QBs get. The Colts face 30.3 attempts per game and the Patriots 40.7. This is further exacerbated by the fact that teams stop passing once they have a huge lead on the Colts and teams are forced to do nothing but pass on the Pats, most weeks, once they are down big.

Second and more importantly Tom Brady doesn't have trap games. He's preparing like he does every other opponent. Of the countless good qualities he has no sense of entitlement might be the best. The guy never rests on what's he's done in the past.

Yeah, the number 1 overall pick is anything but locked up. The Colts lose one game and three or four teams with 2-3 wins could decide to tank and the Colts could hit a team or two who just have bad games. If the Colts are indeed Sucking for Luck, they won't stop until they have 14 or 15 losses or no team can have less losses than them.

The Colts quit the minute Irsay said they might draft Luck. Pollian would put the entire 53 on IR if there was even a whiff they would win 2. The league should install a top 10 lottery for this one draft as payback, this is one of the most disgraceful things i have ever witnessed in sports, and every season ticket holder for the Colts should get a full refund.

I'd laugh if Luck decided to say FU and not declare if he learned that the Colts would be his most likely destination..

Trap games, while absolutely real and dangerous, tend to happen in sandwich situations, where a team is coming off of one big game and has a lesser opponent to face before another big game. I don't see that this week.

I don't see how any QB with a winning attitude would play for a team that intentionally tanks a season. Luck already said he thought was a disgrace to football to tank a season for the #1 pick.
