Re: Patriots announce 4 downgrades from Questionable to Out: Patrick Chung,

I don't care what anyone says, I think it is very good coaching for Belichick to be able to try and successfully manage and overcome this insane rash of injuries this year. And many of them were very key players at critical positions.

When you think about it, there are many other 'successful' franchises such as Pittsburgh, Baltimore, etc where I'm not sure they'd have the same results if given this situation. At least not to this magnitude.

I do question many of his moves and choices, but it is kind of impressive to continue to be able to field a high-quality team with so much turnover at positions that were supposed to be our strengths.

Re: Patriots announce 4 downgrades from Questionable to Out: Patrick Chung,

Actually I was just referring to the LB and DB situation... but thanks for the pick me up!

Can these no-names keep winning? How?

Agreed. This is definitely one of those games where playing with a big lead will help the defense.

Re: Patriots announce 4 downgrades from Questionable to Out: Patrick Chung,

Taylor Price, the time is now

i can see him getting hurt on his second play in..if he plays

I really don't know how they can possibly keep competing at such a high level, PJ...let alone continuing to win, to be completely honest with you.

I know it will not be a popular statement, and it will sound very cliche, but it is really impressive to see such effort from both the backups/no-names AND the coaching staff.

I seriously doubt that anyone outside of Boston has any clue as to how difficult it would be for their team to attempt to pull this off. You really don't get a good enough idea of the magnitude of the whole situation until you start to compare our starters and depth charts from the beginning of training camp.

If Belichick somehow successfully manages these injuries by sitting some, rotating others at certain intervals, I feel as though it will be up there with one of his more successful seasons...playoff results be damned.

Re: Patriots announce 4 downgrades from Questionable to Out: Patrick Chung,

Why are people not freaking out about this? These injuries to the D seem terrible.

2 game divisional lead, plus the tiebreaker

Yeah, true enough, but I'm not one for healthy perspective when it comes to the NFL.

Division yes..but i think the pats will need the #1 or #2 seed....IMO to get to the SB this year with this D they will need HFA

HFA is certainly nice to have when you have depth issues.

i dont mind McCourty and chung being out for this game i dont wanna see them play untill they are 100% Connolly not playing scares i dont wanna see Brady takeing big hits

Hopefully VY has a Palko-like performance and we can sneak by another week with a depleted defense. Then it's:
Indy
Washington
Denver
Miami
Buffalo

Chung/McCourty/Spikes/Fletcher can pretty much rest up the rest of the regular season there lol Well be nice to have them back for Buffalo:cool:

You may be right, although HFA hasn't been much of an "A" in the last couple of playoff seasons. However, I was just offering PJ a reason why people aren't in a panic about this game.

No one should be in panic..i expect the pats to lose 1 more game this year...however..if they easily destroy the eagles..i will change that

It seems that the team is about the same as last week, with 3 exceptions.

1) We are a bit weaker on the line with Connolly out and Light injured.

2) We are bit weaker at WR with Ocho out and Branch injured.

3) We are a bit weaker at TE with Solder likely to be starting at OT.

It Is What It Is » A closer look at what the early inactives mean for the Patriots

As for what this means for the rest of the roster, let’s start in the secondary: First, look for more responsibilities to be placed on the shoulders of James Ihedigbo at safety, while fellow safeties Sergio Brown and Moore will see plenty of snaps. (In an interesting twist, safety Ross Ventrone, who has bounced on and off the roster several times this season because of various personnel moves, will not be part of the active roster for Sunday’s game.)

And no McCourty this week likely means another busy week for Antuwan Molden, who went wire-to-wire at left corner last week for New England on its win over the Chiefs. The Patriots could also give more snaps to Julian Edelman on the defensive side of the football — the former college quarterback has seen some quality snaps on defense the last two games, and could be in line for more on Sunday in hopes of providing depth at the position.

Up front, Connolly’s absence means one thing — Ryan Wendell will see the bulk of the reps in his place. Wendell has stepped in occasionally as the No. 1 interior offensive lineman, and played well last week when Connolly went down. However, without Dan Koppen and Connolly, the Patriots are now very thin at the center spot.

At wide receiver, Ochocinco’s absence should provide an opportunity for second-year receiver Taylor Price to see more snaps — however, even when healthy, Price has struggled to see the field in his relatively short time in Foxboro, and so this could instead mean more targets for other pass catchers like Edelman and Matthew Slater. (At the same time, it’s important to remember that it’s not like Ochocinco was an integral part of the offense to this point in the season, so the change on the final scoresheet should be relatively negligible.)

The upcoming schedule is certainly a blessing for any real shot this year.

It will be great to be able to rest up those players, and allow the injuries to properly heal. It's a whole different team with Chung, McCourty, Spikes and Fletcher back on defense; no doubt about that.

Re: Patriots announce 4 downgrades from Questionable to Out: Patrick Chung,

All they have to do is call Ross Ventrone over at the Monticello Motel in Natick and he will be ready to drive his pickup truck down to Philly.....

Ventrone, being on the practice squad, probably flew down with the team today..

I believe the deadline to activate Ventrone for the game has passed.

Yes. They took Underwood rather than Ventrone. Kick returner, or more than that?
