I noticed that SMY did a blog entry on all the different accomplishments from last nights game. One that was missed by the Pats PR department

BenJarvus Green-Ellis - 465 and counting - Most number of carries to start a career without a fumble. This got mentioned last night by Gruden and it sounded like Gruden was actually very impressed by this..

That is one aspect of BJGE that I am sure Belichick does not overlook.

I believe the current touches number was up around 475 (approx.) when Gruden mentioned it, and it is truly remarkable.

He may not be an 'explosive' and fast RB, but when he gets going, he can be extremely effective.

One more player on 'patsfans.com' that somehow managed to break the "he'll never see the field/ he'll NEVER make the team" label...

I think we need one/two more options for a change of pace RB, but it appears that we have that in a nice combo of Woodhead, Faulk, Ridley, and even possibly Vereen.

As long as the O-line continues to improve, and the coaches commit to the running game, I see them at least being effective down the stretch to the point to where they can at least keep the other team's guessing, and hopefully even suck up some clock.

I remember reading somewhere that someone who knew BJGE said he has never fumbled....ever. Not in High School, College, or the NFL. That's called protecting the football.

I remember reading that too, but it's wrong. He fumbled a few times in college.

You sure about that, Sciz? If so, that's the first I've ever heard.

According to everywhere I have looked, including some "pay sites" that you pay to do research, he has never fumbled in the NCAA's at Indiana or Ole Miss.

"Did benjarvus green ellis ever have a fumble in college?"

The KGB Agent answer: "BenJarvus Green-Ellis does not have a record of fumbles in college..."

From what I understand there were ESPN and NBC analysts that went all the way back to his High School days, looked through records/talked with his coaches etc...but it couldn't be verified (about high school).

You must have him confused with Tarpinian ;)

What was great about BJGE last night was the yards he'd make after contact. Over 90% of the time he gains positive yardage, even on blown blocking plays. Under appreciated,

If I recall correctly BJGE did have one or two fumbles in college, but they were not recovered by the opposing team.

He did lose a fumble once with the Pats, but that doesn't count because it was in a preseason game.

This is correct I believe. BB also mentioned this on a radio interview on WEEI, I think.

What is not to like about BJGE?? Always hits the hole, minimal dancing, always smiling. extremely low maintainence.. one thing that came out last week is that he is very religious. but does not "Tebow" his faith.. which I like.

At one time tried to research his fumbles at De La Salle in NOLA, but was unsuccessful..

BJGE is awesome. There is nothing better to get out of your RB then never fumbling... but at the same time we need to have about 3 rb's all having the same amount of carries. I dont like BJGE getting all the touches very much. With our te's I feel like we should be running the ball ALOT better.

It's an impressive record, but Gruden was impressed by a completed pass by Palko last night. He and Gruden are the two biggest ball washers in sports.

Gruden and Gruden? Is there a double Gruden?

Oops! I meant Jaws. Probably would have been easier to call them Beavis and Butthead. For two of the best analysts in football, they both really act like baffoons on MNF.

For a team with Brady, Welker, Gronk, Branch, Hernandez..etc.. we're in the middle of the pack rushing in the NFL. If they want to run, they run effectively as seen in the jets and raiders games. After what I saw of Vereen last night I feel pretty good about our running game going forward.

Knock wood on this thread.
