Q: I'm just wondering if you would send Adam out to kick a 50-yarder, maybe you wouldn't attempt it with this kid who hasn't made a game-winning field goal. Maybe your strategy would be different at the end of the game and maybe get him closer.

BB: So why wouldn't you get closer no matter who your kicker was? Do you think we want to kick a 50 yard field goal with kicker 'A' and kick a 30 yarder with kicker 'B'? I'd rather be on the 30 yard line regardless.

What a dumb question about kicking distance. Do you know who asked it? Whoever it is, he doesn't know the difference between long kicks (SG has stronger leg than AV) and pressure kick (AV is proven, SG is not).

A lot of us will breathe easier when SG makes a FG with no time left on the clock. But if the kick was from 50 yards, I'd rather have SG than AV. AV's record for long kicks wasn't that great.

And there will be some finger-nail chewing the first time SG kicks in the snow, too.

IIRC (no guarantees), signing AV over Bahr was not popular, and after his second (third?) season, Tuna almost cut him.

Not to beat up on AV. The Snow Bowl kick was the greatest in the history of the NFL, and he did run Hershel Walker down from behind once, but he wasn't perfect at the start of his career. And even at the end, everyone praises him for that game-winning kick against Carolina, and conveniently forgets that that last kick was necessary only because he had two missed FGs earlier in the game.

Theres a chance that Gostkowski will NOT have to kick a ball in the snow for the remainer of the 2006 season - If we win sunday in Foxboro where it will not be snowing - If we then go to San Diego where it will NOT be snowing and then in the Indianapolis dome where the only snowfall would be on the outside,we won't have to worry about that till next winter.

I agree, but it could happen, KC wins this week, we beat Baltimore and KC takes out SD. KC plays at the Razor in a few weekends. Its been a wierd winter, quite mild.

HELL; with our new surface and heating underneath it there is a chance Gostkowski will play his WHOLE PATRIOTS CAREER WITHOUT KICKING A HOME FG IN THE SNOW.

Even if it snows it won't accumulate; so what is the difference between that and kicking in the rain?
