My favorite play from today's D was the Arrington pick where

1. Ninko killed the QB
2. Moore killed the WR
3. AND LOVE JUST COMPLETELY DESTROYED SOMEONE.

Well SAID, Brother!! :rocker:

That play was BEAUTIFULL!! :D

It requires a special breed of "stupid" to fail to process the simple fact that POINTS determine the winner of every game.

Ergo: Points are quite obviously the Ranking that mattes MOST. :idea2:

The packers are so deeply flawed it's insane. Their cupcake schedule is going to hit some bumps in the very near future. I'd be shocked if they made the Superbowl...and if they do, my god would I love a crack at 'em.

Their offense is deep with talent at WR and obviously QB. Rodgers really covers up the O-line issues they have. They can't run the ball at all. And that defense has not been impressive against mediocre offenses.

They have to play Detroit twice, NYG, OAK, Chicago and KC.

The Packers catch a break with Chicago, now that Cutler is out. It seems that Stafford's hand is much better when he has a running game. Eli should give them issues. And Carson seems to be shaking off the rust a bit, so he should be a good challenge for them. Obviously they will destroy KC.

New Orleans, Atlanta and SD are the only legitimate offenses they have faced. And Atlanta and SD have been struggling. They played the Bears before they realized that 7 step drops was not the answer for a terrible line. TB who has been struggling badly on the offensive side of the ball just had a field day against them.

They are winning, I give them credit and until they lose in the playoffs I will continue to call them the best team in the league. With that said, I think they lose Thursday in Detroit. Calvin Johnson is going to destroy that secondary.

I'm enjoying watching the no names WAY more than the second round picks we got rid of...

We shouldn't get overly excited because weak teams are on the menu this winter - but how can you not like what this crew is doing ? It's almost insane.

Edelman played more defensive snaps than Sergio Brown. Moore doesn't come off the field anymore. Anderson and Carter are always on the QB. Crazy fun.

????

Edelman played more snaps last week than Sergio Brown. Brown has ZERO defensive reps.

Moore played 72 of the 72 reps last week. He didn't come off for anyone. As tonight, he and Idhedigbo were our safeties, although Ventrone had a few reps in both games when Ihedigbo was injured and out for a few plays.

With regard to being "always on the quarteback", I guess you're referring to past couple of weeks. I'd like to see a few more weeks until I say "always".

Only a fool would continue to post the type of BS you churn out of your @$$ everytime you touch your keyboard. Why the fcuk are you so miserable? 34-3 isn't good enough for you? Are there therapists in your area code?

I think it's funny how being realistic is met with such hostility on sports messageboards.

Stats are for losers.

You are what you are.

You sound like a Pats hater from 2007. The Packers are going 16-0 whether you like it or not... personally I think they will win it all

I know this was not directed towards me. But I'm not a hater at all. I like Rodgers and GB is a flag ship franchise for the NFL, I have no ill will towards them at all.

But I have to ask you, have you watched any of their games this year that weren't on National Television? An honest question...because they have serious flaws....

The good news is that the opponents PPG against the Pats is trending downward. In their first 4 games they gave up an average of 24.5 points, and in their 4 most recent games the average is 17 ppg. Given the rest of the schedule, it looks like this trend should continue. However, what really matters is how the defense holds up against playoff-caliber teams, not struggling teams with rookie quarterbacks. So temper your enthusiasm, but I do think there's reason to be optimistic.

It's not cherry picking. It is acknowledging that they sucked the first month and have really turned it around the last six games. Tonight is not a great test for the defense, but it did build on the good stuff of last week.

Rob

Except they didn't suck the first month.

Sloppy play in Miami after the game was out of reach.

The San Diego game was actually the downfall for the Chargers. Using that blueprint, it appears that is now dawning on teams that if you take Gates out and don't give San Diego big plays......the prone gaff after gaff.

"What's wrong with Phillip Rivers?"......ThE Patriots blueprint

Buffalo- four turnovers.

Oakland 59 minutes 32 seconds played.....13 points surrendered.

uh no

The Patriots Defense is averaging 3 PPG in their last 1 game.

Best of all time

Haha. What ? We're saying the same thing friend. You don't think it's amazing that Edelman (who some thought would get cut from the team after the Halloween fiasco) plays more D snaps than a guy who started at the start of the season ?

Ok : there is hyperbole when I say "always" but come on - we're talking about a team who had zero pressure in September.

And "yes" Moore is playing all the snaps.... I don't really get your post, but I'm not angry about it.

During the game FSPN threw up a stat highlighting Patriot defenses, under BB, always ranking better in points allowed than yards allowed. I didn't know that and on some level makes me feel better about this year's D.

Gruden said is perfectly during tonight's game. He said (paraphrasing) *I have never seen yards allowed on a scoreboard*. How many points you score and how many points you allow IS the stat that matters most. Case closed! Anyone arguing otherwise is letting the emotional side of their brain rule the logical side of their brain. While I don't think yards allowed stats -- as well as takeaways, 3 and outs, third down effectiveness and others -- are meaningless, they only speak to what may be areas of concern. But all those stats run a distant 2nd to the singularly critical points allowed stat.

Absolute Fact: the Patriots are currently the #10 defense in the stat that matters most, points scored. Subjective Feeling: it is an undeserved ranking.

I agree 100%.

I also believe that unless this defense improves A LOT, we will have a hard time with PITT, BALT and perhaps even OAK. Obviously, today's defense would likely get torched by GB, NO, SF, and perhaps even DET.

There are six game of development to go. Besides, we will be much better with the return to 100% health of McCourty, Chung, Spikes and Fletcher.

WOW! I think the USGS mistakenly reported that as 3.6 magnitude earthquake with the epicenter in Foxboro.....

Talk about a collision of gargantuan proportions. That hit by Love literally lifted and buckled that enormous body of the KC defender.

Vs an ex Colts player. :D

to those saying this stat doesnt matter...would you rather have a top 10 passing yard defense and #32 in points allowed??...exactly.

Greetings,
I feel they are a middle of the pack defense to be honest with you. They are not as nearly as bad as the media makes them out to be, I get sick of hearing about how they give up the most yards crap. They have been playing great considering the talent they have and the injuries they have had to deal with though. I will say this is some of the best line play I have seen from the Patriots in years. :rocker:
