Patriots officially a top 10 Defense!

My favorite play from today's D was the Arrington pick where

1. Ninko killed the QB
2. Moore killed the WR
3. AND LOVE JUST COMPLETELY DESTROYED SOMEONE.

It was their other Tight End, 85 I think. Love wrecked him. That was a great play, all 3 at the same time, plus an INT to add on top.

Aaron Rodgers would destroy this defense in the Super Bowl. Pats better hope the Pack don't make it there

And Brady would destroy the Packers defense....

It's not cherry picking. It is acknowledging that they sucked the first month and have really turned it around the last six games. Tonight is not a great test for the defense, but it did build on the good stuff of last week.

Agreed

But if you could take any defenses in the league, and let Belichick coach them for a year, do you really think this unit is better than 22 other units?

Get real

The defense is bad. The coaching is excellent. It's all a matter of matchups and what the coaches can cover up for.

But Belichick doesn't coach any other team. Who cares if the Pats' defense is the most talented or least talented? The Eagles probably have the most talent in the league on defense and they are 4-6. I only care about production. I don't don't care if the Pats' starting CBs are the waterboy and ballboy as long as they produce. Arrington leads the league in INTs. Do you think he is in Revis' class? Of course not, but I will take his production.

That play drew a triple OOOOHHH from me and my two boys. What a great sequence of events.

the defense is bad. The coaches just exploit match ups.

:blahblah: :blahblah: That's what they said about the greatest show on turf vs. the plucky tuck rule team that had a 25th ranked yardage defense and a dink and dunk QB that year and we all know how that turned out...

Let's not jump the gun here, the competition will get easier so our stats will improve but there is lots of fixing to do.

And the players have to execute those exploits. Guess what? They are. This defense is so beat up that a highschool team should march down the field on the names we have out there, but they have allowed the 10th fewest points in the league. I don't care how quickly teams move from the 20 to 20, nearly every opponent we face has trouble scoring on us once they are inside the 20, the redzone D i'd guess is near the top of the league without checking actual stats.

They are far from the 10th most talented, but they are producing.

The packers are so deeply flawed it's insane. Their cupcake schedule is going to hit some bumps in the very near future. I'd be shocked if they made the Superbowl...and if they do, my god would I love a crack at 'em.

So they are a bad defense executing like a top 10 defense because of their coach. Who cares? It is all semantics.

The fact of the matter is this is a group of players who are very coachable and willing to do what it takes to win whether it is best for them individually or not. That is far more valuable than people think.

You see a team like the Jets who are a bunch of individuals with guys like Santonio Holmes (yeah, I know he is an offensive player, but he is the best example of a talented individual) cares about how many balls thrown in his direction rather than win the game. I'll take a guy like Kyle Arrington who might not be the best CB out there, but he does what his coaches tell him and he is constantly in a position to make key interceptions.

Only a fool would call this a top 10 defense
Only a fool would continue to post the type of BS you churn out of your @$$ everytime you touch your keyboard. Why the fcuk are you so miserable? 34-3 isn't good enough for you? Are there therapists in your area code?

C'mon! What are you talking about. The Pats almost lost tonight because they gave up 334 yards and only scored 380 yards. It was a real nail biter tonight.

we shouldn't count the 3 INT's either because thats another bogus stat of course.

points allowed and turn overs, 2 useless stats:p

Why should I care? So they award some sort of trophy for that??

Once again, we see the impact good coaching can make.

But isn't BB becoming senile, acting without forethought and impulsively, and should be stripped of power by Kraft if not fired? :D

We are a top 10 defense. Being in the top 10 in points allowed and turnovers are both important indicators. Red zone scoring defense is also an important indicator. Belichick has always believed that yards allowed means nothing. His stats in points allowed have been better for ALL his 17 years of coaches.

However, if we play as well all game next week as we did in the first half next week, we'll likely lose. The offense was awful in the first half.

You sound like a Pats hater from 2007. The Packers are going 16-0 whether you like it or not... personally I think they will win it all

In all seriousness, you're absolutely right. A perennial contender in the NFL is a coach and coaching staff that takes the pieces of his team and places them in an optimum position to win. The Patriots over the BB years have routinely beaten teams that had more talent. However, this year, if they make a serious run at the SB, will be the crowned jewel of BB's coaching performance.

I still have a hard time with the equation that equals a serious championship run -- with this secondary -- but it will be supremely grand if it does happen.

I was listening to a discussion the other day that basically said for the Packers to go 19-0 they would have won 25 games in a row.
