This is a Ty Warren Appreciation thread.

When was the last time you saw a 3-4 DE get 117 tackles? I know that NFL.com only credits him with 84, but the Pats COACHES are the ones crediting him with the 117.

Even 84 is a LOT for a 3-4 DE. Also, not to mention the 7.5 sacks that he made.

By comparison, Seymour only had 40 tackles. Granted, Seymour missed some time (though he played in all 16 games), Seymour has never had more than 57 tackles on a season.

I think Ty Warren is very much, under-appreciated and has flown under the radar around the league.

I think the entire d-line is underappreciated. I remember how in love the national media was with Carolina's Front 4 when we played them in the Super Bowl, but I think NE's Front-4 is every bit as talented... but I am a bit biased...

I'd agree with you, but the Pats only have a FRONT - 3. Not a Front -4. Though, I am sure many teams feel like its 4 players there with Warren at 320, Wilfork at 350 and Seymour at 310. :D

Yes that was a blunder on my part...

It's really a front five from a talent standpoint. We're also blessed to have Jarvis Green and Mike Wright as backups.

I remember reading some article earlier in the season where it talked about how much extra work Ty put in this off season. It certainly seems to have given him the results he's looking for. Great season Ty and I say welcome to the elite level!!!

It was visible in the first pre-season game, he was so much faster off the snap from 2005 it was just one of those sit up and drool moments...like Thanksgiving when they start setting the table.

NE's DL is significantly better than Carolina's ever was. Period. End. Of. Discussion.

Agreed. He is overshadowed by Seymour, but has really come into his own this year. The D-line is amazing.

What he said.

Ty Warren has developed into quite a freak. I am very glad that the Patriots knew what they were doing with that pick, even though it had me scratching my head at the time.

Not to mention the fact that it simply varies from one play to the next. Heck, wasn't it just last year when the Pats played a prevent defense with 2 down linemen and 9 defensive backs or something ridiculous like that...? I called it the "Susan B. Anthony defense."
