Gary Myers: The Jets are Total Wrecks

True, looking at their schedule I'm waiting till they're officially eliminated to rejoice. The team has hit similar lowpoints/embarrassments in the past 2 years while we laughed it up then they somehow went on a run. Still alot of football to be played

As I've said many times, the Jets are - fittingly - like roaches. You've got to keep stomping even after they look dead :D

White boys...

Beat me to it.

Don't forget everybody's favorite Jets OL...

I want to see the jets crushed a few more times before celebrating their demise....although it is fun to watch the collapse:p

i said it in the off-season, the Jets took a step back offensively. last years Jets would pose a bigger threat to our current secondary with Braylon Edwards/Cotcherty

but the Jets let them go in favor for a 37y/o burress and a Rookie Kerley and are expecting them to play at an elite level.

way to early to call them done. They were 4-5 in 2009 and ended up in the AFCCG. Couple of similar breaks and they will be in the playoffs.

Yea, I don't get it. It wasn't too long ago, that they were done (I think Ryan cried in front of the media), then they made a comeback and made the playoffs. Thus, it's pretty dumb to say your done, as it is to tell the world your going to the Superbowl. It will be interesting to see how the Buffalo game plays out.

Same here - I don't take anything for granted and a team that is 5-5 isn't out of it... nor are there any truly "easy" wins in the NFL (barring teams losing purposefully to get Luck)

I'd say its clear Wrecks Ryan is trying to both take pressure off and put pressure on. If he had any remaining crediblity it might help - but at this point I don't think the players listen to his BS and I think even they know they need a real QB.

Cromartie refusing to tackle Tebow might indicate the team wants to lose to dump Sanchez at the very least and possibly their head coach who apparently has a difficult time understanding the definition of the word "guarantee"

The entire situation in NY makes it impossible for Wrecks or Sanchize to succeed. Woody Johnson wanted a new stadium and the Megabucks it would bring. To do that he needed to sell lots of expensive PSLs and season tickets.

As a consequence the preseason PR machine was turned on full tilt two years ago, to get the Jests fans ....to BELIEVE!

Any rational observer could see that Jets were nowhere near the quality of a true Super bowl club. Might they squeak into the Playoffs as a Wild card? Possibly yes. But they could only do so, without any significant injuries and depth was minimal to non-existent. The JEST fans are so desperate they can't tell what a Super bowl contender actually looks like. So they bought the PR hype, and then bought the overpriced PSLs and season tickets.

I've been saying this for three years. The whole dog and pony show has been aimed at selling PSLs vs. building a solid foundation for a title run, which would require a completely different approach to roster building.

After the Mangini/Favre debacle Woody knew he had to do something big with the new stadium coming, and fast. So he hired bawdy Wrecks for the role of carnival barker, drafted Li'l Marky in the first round and nabbed some "name" free agents. The "big splash" worked better than expected getting to the AFCC two years in a row, but it was (by design and default) a small window of opportunity that's on the way to closing.

Like love-starved schoolboys with a case of 40-year blue balls, many Green Beans fans were willingly blinded by Woody's hollow spectacle and mortgaged their futures for ridiculously priced PSLs. A great con job while it lasted. Problem is, quite a few thousand PSLs remain unsold. No telling what's next up Woody's sleeve.

lol I got a kick out of this comment:

But he should play the lottery more - he's getting too good with the 'pick-six'.

Yeah I'm going to have to agree with the people saying that the jets are still a threat. Like they've said these guys have been pretty damn low before and bounced back pretty strong, bounced back all the way to the championship game.

So while I enjoy these days of their misery, I'm certainly not counting them out of anything yet.

Yep, it all starts with the Bills this week. It's telling for me when there's a team like Buffalo who controls their own destiny to take the AFCE right now against the Jets who need us to lose at least 3 games, yet I still find myself rooting for Buffalo. The Bills still don't worry me just the same yet

I don't see it happening. Several major differences:

1.) They won't face two teams at the end of the year resting players for the playoffs allowing the Jets to back into the playoffs at 9-7

2.) 9-7 won't let you get into the playoffs this year or at least it isn't likely to

3.) The 2009 Jets had the #1 ranked defense (both in yards and points allowed) and running game that year. Right now they are the 7th ranked defense in yards and the 15th ranked defense in points allowed and the 25th ranked rushing offense.

It's early to sort this out. The Jets are behind the 8-ball but the two most likely teams for the two wild cards are some combination of the Bills, Bengals and Ravens. None of those teams is consistent either. 10-6 is probably the 2nd wild card record this year.

The Jets need to go 5-1 against the Bills, Redskins, Giants, Eagles, Chiefs, Dolphins to get to 10-6. Completely plausible. The Skins, Chiefs and Dolphins stink. The Giants game is an emotional toss-up. The Eagles are self-immolating and the Bills are unpredictable.

The bad news for the Jets is that all their losses are in the AFC. The tie-breakers may be their undoing.

We'll know a lot next weekend - the Bills is a must win.

I would love to write the jets off but I will wait for them to actually be eliminated, then I will laugh my ass off for a long long time. I am looking forward to it, the sooner the better.

They need to get creative. Their running game is in the bottom 1/4 of the league, their D is shotty and their QB cannot carry an offense.

CARRY an offense? Holy hell, "Sanchize" is lucky when he doesn't torpedo his offense. He can't carry an offense? He can't carry a balance, carry a tune, or carry me back to Ol Virginny. Okay that last part I pretty much stole from an old M*A*S*H* episode but it fits. He might "be developing into" a very good NFL QB, blah blah blah, maybe some day. But other than emotion-filled wins where everything lines up right, I just don't see what's supposed to be the star quality about this kid.

couldn't agree more ... :D

The moral is...when some guy named "Woody" offers you a "deal" on a freakin' LICENSE to sit in a seat...just say no..or else bend over and wait for him to hit you in the seat...the choice is yours, Rat fans...

I can't think of a better team to play at home in the play-offs other than the Jets. I hope they make it. We owe them.

That was a lot more likely 6 days and 2 losses ago. The Jest are probably going to have to run the table to get it with their tiebreaker situation the way it is.

I'll be rooting for them.

I live in the Philly area (suburbs) and can not wait till Philly plays the Jets. I will be at that game making fun of the Jets and the coach! I hate Rex Ryan soooo much man! He is one arrogant prick who think of him self and the team better then anyone. Then he gets angry when they loose like a cry baby. He is a loser!
