Other jobs that could catch Cowher's eye include the Giants (who could be looking for both a coach and a G.M. next week at this time), the Falcons (who might be attracted by his past success with a running back who was listed in the program as a quarterback), and (drum roll, please) the Patriots.

The Patriots? Have we gone bonkos?

Look, we're not about to make goofy-ass predictions (e.g., Bill Belichick might leave New England to coach the Texans), but the same spider sense that told us that we were on to something with the Saban-to-Alabama thing (even as everyone involved denied it repeatedly) tells us that something (we're not sure what) could go down with Belichick and the Pats once their season ends -- and that Belichick could land somewhere else.

Maybe even Miami.

Is it unfair to engage in such speculation? We don't think so, because the aura of mystery surrounding Belichick's contract with the Patriots invites rumor and innuendo.

Does it expire after this season? Next season? After the 2027 season?

And if we've all learned one thing in the past 24 hours, it's that you can trust NOTHING that comes from the mouth of a pro or college football coach.

Hey, we're not passing judgment on coaches. Lying is part of the gig. As we've said before, the game of football rewards successful deception.

The play-action pass, the draw play, the zone blitz. All are premised on fooling the opponent.

And because the lying extends to matters such as the draft and free agency, it becomes difficult for the coaches to know when the lying should stop, and when the truth-telling should begin.

**yawn** It is what it is.

I think it's time to start some psy-ops about Man-vagina. I hear he's having significant marital problems ... yeah, that's it. And his wife is involved with another woman.

Who wouldn't wnt to be the coach? Tom Brady, Seymour and the D lIne, the O line signed up. 2 #1s in the draft. Great owner. over 20mil under the cap next year. Sign me up.

And his wife is involved with another woman.

Ah...can you please explain to me how that is viewed as a problem?

:singing: :rocker:

Yeah, i heard that too.
Well okay, i heard it from Tune.

But it's a good story
... and we should see that it gets a fair hearing.

Well, Man-vagina has been spending so much time on football that his wife is planning to leave him and it happens to be for another woman. So, Man-vagina will not be "involved" in the way you're fantasyzing. A brutal custody battle is about to ensue. Should hit the Post front page around tomorrow. Or if the New York media doesn't know about this yet, we should alert them.

Ok that would suck! Sometimes you just have to compromise. It makes everyone happy and in somecases you get doubley rewarded. ;)

For the gullable side of me: Is that something you just pulled out of your ass :D or is that the current rumor working through the mill?

All I can is, where there's smoke, there is fire. In other words, two 'ginas are company, three's a crowd.

I think about the only thing Mangina will be fighting custody for is the ice cream and pizza. Man has he put on weight or what!

I thought BB or the Pats confirmed that this was not the last season on his current deal to the Globe.

Anyone else remember that?

Unconfirmed reports are that he is signed through 2007.

The original PFT report
has it running for 21 more years:

Does it expire after this season? Next season? After the 2027 season?

And you can take that to the bank!

So there is a custody battle is it with the two kids in college or the one just finishing High School. They only have three kids.

From BSMW:

On Friday's Mike Felger Show on ESPN Boston, FOX Sports NFL Insider John Czarnecki said that he feels the Giants will go after Scott Pioli, but that Bill Belichick isn't going anywhere. He said he believes that Belichick's contract with the Patriots has two years to go.

That's followed up with this one:

Len Pasquarelli's Tip Sheet Insider (Subscription Required) on ESPN.com Insider says the following about Belichick:

There was a spate of reports in New York this week that the Giants might lure New England coach Bill Belichick, assuming incumbent Tom Coughlin doesn't survive. Forget about it. While the details of Belichick's contract remain murky -- no one guards the terms and financial aspects of his deal better than the Pats' coach and owner Bob Kraft -- reports that the contract expired after this season were erroneous. A league official who has access to coaches' contracts confirmed Belichick is under contract through at least the 2007 season.

I know that won't stop people from wondering, I just thought I'd toss it out there for those who were concerned.

I've officially lost all respect I had for PFT and Florio. He's officially a douchebag. And I'm not so sure his Saban to Miami "spider" sense is as impressive as he thinks it was. Anyone with access to a computer and the internet could have read those tea leaves.

Why be upset with Florio? He doesn't hide the fact that it's just rumor. Heck, that portion of the website is called the Daily Rumor Mill.

Correct. Kraft said that saying this year was the last year of the contract would be a misrepresentation.
