Well he did have a good year but I thought it would be somewhat closer race I guess when Colston was injured made a big difference.

Young looks like the real deal, hopefully he does not mentor with Michael Vick and whoever takes over the Titans Offense keeps him on a tight rein. He has potential, however suspect the media will annoint him as the future of football. Get ready for the VY love fest.

Saw this post and thought it was dead on:

6.2 yards per attempt, 12 TDs and 13 Ints constitutes a great year? I guess people think Young's a great clutch player because he can win a game when his defense scores 3 TDs, when an opposing Dlineman lets him go thinking a play is over or when his kicker makes a 60 yarder. Young's not even as good a throwing QB as Michael Vick, and certainly not as good a runner.

I wonder if people will remember his ROY award when the Titans have a QB controversy in the next couple of years.

The question is whether with a full offseason to study, can he improve enough to handle a full offense? His test scores were a large part of the knock on him before the draft, and quite possibly we don't yet know how well he'll grasp a complex offense. Taking the ball and running is a poor substitute for accurately reading the defense. If he can't master the offense it puts a ceiling on what he can achieve.

Vince Young is just another ath-a-lete, playing out of position at qb, who was exposed by the Patriots. If the D and ST tackling had been just average, the (not so) titans would have lost by 30 points, in their own house, with a playoff berth at stake.

In all fairness to Young, he did have a good rookie season. But I think Maurice Jones-Drew had a better one - 2237 all purpose yards, 13 rushing tds, 2 receivings, and 1 on a return.

Young, through no fault of his own, has been the recipient of effusive praise. The best example I can think of is after the Titans defeated the Jags in week 14. A DC radio broadcast proclaimed him rookie of the year then and there - but failed to mention Young was 8-15 for 85 yarsd passing, and rushed 4 times for 4 yards in that game. All of Tennessee's scoring (minus a FG) came on defense, but Young received the credit. It's no wonder so many here are skeptical of his getting ROY. It makes you wonder how many of the voters actually saw him play.

Leinart actually had a better year passing than any rookie, leading in yardage, passer rating, completion percentage, etc. But Young did have a fine rookie season, and his team did win some games because of him. Besides his passing, he ran for over 500 yards and 7 rushing tds. Not a bad choice, but I've been campaigning for Jones-Drew for the last few weeks, he obviously was the best rookie this year.
