One more reason to Love the 2011 edition of Your New England Patriots! :rocker:

Well AWWWRRIIIIIGHT!!!!!!!!!

Way to go, Marcus!!!!!!!!

Very uplifting story!

I was about to say who is released, but I'll be shocked if it isn't Ross Ventrone!

yup..i figure it will be him. A surprise would be guyton.

Great news for Marcus. Not sure he's a game day active player. But, fantastic for his health and can at least practice the rest of the year. Gotta think Thomas is a goner. We have too many injuries on defense to carry 9 OL.

poor ventrone ! for his sake I hope it is Thomas

But GO MARCUS !!! :rocker:

FIRE IN THE HOLE!

Here comes the Cannon!

Thomas seems more likely with all the offensive linemen healthy, or even Niko.

I like having 9 OL, but even I recognize the need for an extra linebacker (Niko) and defensive back (Ventrone).

but I WANT Vlad Duccase

get rid of that JAG OL guy

This should be a blast.

The offense has a new weapon.

Not just muskets we have the cannon.

On the down side it does mean we now have a locker room cancer.

Interesting situation.

He was clearly called a guard when drafted, but we have to recognize that his experience is mostly at tackle. He might be most comfortable subbing at tackle, but with Light, Vollmer, and Solder, the Patriots have three solid tackles. With an aging Waters and Connolly called into service at center, Cannon's greatest value is at guard.

I can't imagine there will be a strong market for Donald Thomas if he is dropped. The Patriots can find another guard to add to the Practice Squad if they want a little more shadow depth. They do have three OL on the current PS, I believe, in Welch, McDonald, and Kopa - each of whom are taller outside OL.

Given his potential, I'd be happier seeing Cannon as the sub guard over Thomas. If there is an injury to Mankins or Waters in the next game or two, the most likely scenario is Wendell comes in at center and Connolly moves to guard. I guess I would be comfortable with Cannon as the #5 interior OL, in hopes that he can compete for a starting position in 2012.

That was in horrible taste.

Your analysis is correct. The question is the readiness of Cannon at guard. We'll see later today, but I would think that Thomas is worth keeping on the 53 man roster.

GREAT NEWS !!!

I think Ventrone sticks with all the DB injuries...just a hunch

Wonder if pats set any new NFL records for number of players to see the field during the season......I can't believe how many injuries they have so far....

Thank God for their DEPTH and YOUTH !! ;)

We have Kyle Hix @ T some 6-7 JAG (how does he look?)

Cannon comes in at 6-5 358 (is being molded to play both G and T)

do we carry the the extra T or does Ross get Ventroned?

I like having an extra OL T b/c what if Cannon gets hurt? If we have that extra OL guy we cover our bases.

Didn't BB say Cannon can play every position on the OL?

With how well Waters has been playing at guard, maybe we see Cannon get some reps at C?

Great news for Marcus Cannon!! My prediction for the off-setting roster move: Taylor Price to IR. Let's give that hammy time to heal and let him have a full off-season with OTAs etc before we see whether he can play or not next year.

If Price goes to IR, he's done. Hard to get a good career going if you don't play your first 2 years.
