OT: Matt Schaub has a "signficant" foot injury, out Week 12 or longer

Since the Texans are primary contender for HFA throughout the playoffs, this is relevant news. From Rotoworld:

Texans coach Gary Kubiak revealed at his Monday press conference that Matt Schaub is dealing with a "significant" foot injury, and will be out for at least Week 12.

Matt Leinart will be under center following the Texans' Week 11 bye. Schaub was able to stay in the game after suffering the injury in the second quarter Sunday, but required the aid of a walking boot afterward. He will meet with a specialist later this week, and is without a timetable for a return. The injury comes right as the Texans are set to get Andre Johnson (hamstring) back following a six-week absence, and clouds the race for the top seed in the AFC. The Texans can be expected to lean on Arian Foster and Ben Tate more than ever in Schaub's absence, making Leinart a poor fill-in if you're an owner

HFA looks pretty wide open to me at this point. I'm hoping he's OK.

I agree. I don't hate the texans and if this is a significant injury it sucks for them.

Matt Leinart!

LOL

Q: How do you say "Matt Leinart" in Spanish?
A: "Mark Sanchez"

If the Pats go 13-3, HFA will be theirs. I don't see Pitt going 13-3- not with SF playing @ home vs them.

Re: News which could impact the Playoff seeding: Schaub is injured

Considering that Houston may be the strongest AFC team at the moment, this is important news.

Who is their backup?

Interesting developments today. Eric Wood got IR today. significantly makes the Bills OL very weak.

Re: News which could impact the Playoff seeding: Schaub is injured

He has a lis franc injury which basically means he's done for the year.

Ladies and gentlemen:

Matt Leinhart is your new Texans starter!

Re: News which could impact the Playoff seeding: Schaub is injured

Durability has been Schaub's career long achilles heel (no pun intended). That you would back that guy up with Leinart in that division which is uncompetitive absent Manning is mindboggling.

Said this in the first thread.

Is this true? That injury is awful and would sideline him the rest of the year.

Re: News which could impact the Playoff seeding: Schaub is injured

Houston still has the most potent running attack in the NFL, Tate and Foster are both on pace for roughly 1200 yard seasons and any quarterback, even Leinart can dump the ball off to them and let them get into space.

Schaub going down will hurt their passing game, but they've been playing without a top 3 WR all season pretty much and still have one of the best offenses. They're basically trading Schaub for Johnson back with the best running game still intact.

Shaun Hill and whoever the other Lions QB's are looked pretty good for the past few seasons with Stafford sitting on the bench because they had good receivers around. Houston will protect Leinart and use Foster/Tate to keep him from losing games for them. They'll be just fine, in my opinion. They have several key things that the Colts don't, Schaub out won't have the same effect as Manning out.

Re: News which could impact the Playoff seeding: Schaub is injured

they have a bye next week then they play the the jags, they have been winning with out Andre Johnson and Mario Williams and they won a few games without Arian Foster, with that defense and running game and there Schedule i think they can win a game or two without Matt Schaub

Hard to see the Texans remaining at the top of the AFC with Matt Leinart at the helm.
