Andre Dyson is out of the playoff game against the pats, according to espnnews.
Not sure what kind of role he plays for the Jets, but IIRC he is a starter.
Evens things up a little with harrison being out.

No problem. They have Hank Poteat who'll start. Really.

Dyson and Poteat are both kind of blah and not wholly different IMO. The bigger issue for me is CB depth - when we go to 4 and 5 WR then having a #2 or #3 CB can hurt quite a bit. As long as we pick up the blitz better this time to give Tommy time, this should be good.

Their top 2 corners will be about the same, but their nickel and dime packages just got very weak.

For some reason I see CHAD JACKSON having about 3 great catches in this game due to mismatches against their nickel/dime back.

This can only help the Pats, it may force them to keep their Safeties back and open up the running game. The won't be able to stack the box as easily without exposing one of these guys. I can't remember if it was Rhodes or Coleman but one of their safeties had a great game against the Pats last time. If we get the running game going it is all over, Brady will kill them with play action.

Wow, here are their CBs. Look at this crap... and people bad mouth the Pats secondary. Poteat was cut as our 5th db and he is their starter. If our WRs can't exploit these guys I will be amazed.

LCB Andre Dyson, Drew Coleman
RCB Hank Poteat, Justin Miller, David Barrett

If if Poteat does start, we'll just have to hope that he doesn't break tradition and start intercepting any passes.

Dyson was their TOP Corner and Poteat had supplanted Barrett and Justin Miller as the #2 CB. Now, either Barrett or Miller will have to step up.

This definitely weakens them across the board.

I remember that in the past Brady has picked on Barrett heavily, so if he's starting I'm sure Brady is drooling.

Same news line states they will also be without RB Barlow

Jan. 2 News:
Barlow (thigh) won't be available for Sunday's playoff opener with New England according to a member of the Jets organization, writes the Star Leger.

As for Dyson; the wires reported he was running in practice a week ago and didn't play against Oakland.
So I would think if he could run a week ago he is more likely to play this Sunday and this could be a little injury mis-direction on Mangini's part.

Not sure who these "member of the Jets organization" guys are; but obviously either Mangini doesn't believe everything he learned from BB (on disguising the injury report) or there is a deeper deception plan going on here.

Whatever; DOES IT REALLY MATTER. Line em up; I think Patriots players match up on both sides of the ball better than Jesters. IS THERE ANY STARTING POSITION YOU WOULD TRADE STRAIGHT UP???? I CAN'T THINK OF ONE. (ok maybe 1 - Coles for Caldwell - but I think caldwell has more potential) So Patriots should beat these guys. IF THEY SHOW.
