Five of the team's last nine games will be against lousy QBs, which should help the team get on track.

Re: Looking for legitimate positives moving forward? Look no further than the schedu

No reason this team shouldn't finish at worst 12-4. I thought 13-3 at the beginning of the season and I'm sticking to it. I could see a split with the Jets and another clunker thrown in somewhere (Eagles/Chiefs).

I don't care if they give up a ton of passing yards, but please start consistantly makinga 3rd down stops on the opponents side of the 50....

That is all I want for Christmas!

That 4 game stretch is a thing of beauty.

Should (hopefully) be four blowouts in a row leading to the Bills game.

Curtis Painter, John Beck, Tim Tebow, Matt Moore

Not only does that upcoming late stretch look like a positive, the current nine-game mid-season stretch does not appear to be quite as imposing as it did when the schedule was announced last April, despite last week's fiasco:

at Raiders
vs Jets
vs Cowboys
at Pittsburgh
vs Giants
at Jets
vs Chiefs
at Eagles
vs Colts

I truly believe that the bye week broke the momentum and was the major culprit in the Pitt fiasco. I know we have problems with the secondary, but I think we will scrape by with enough wins, especially with the schedule. :D

Mark Sanchez isnt lousy.

Rex said so.

Re: Looking for legitimate positives moving forward? Look no further than the schedu

The Jets game still worries me after the last 2 eggs we laid in the meadowlands.

I would gladly take us going 2-2 in the next 4 and finishing 12-4 overall, that should be good enough for a bye. Very realistic chance at that.

Re: Looking for legitimate positives moving forward? Look no further than the schedu

I dont even want another bye. And I don't want brady resting at the end. After back to back one and dones in the playoffs and playing like crap after resting i suggest overworking him instead.

Re: Looking for legitimate positives moving forward? Look no further than the schedu

I can't believe you put Tebow in the lousy QB category.

That is a good theory except that Brady didn't rest in the last game 2 years ago. He played until the final 3 minutes.

I'm worried that the Pats are going to roll through the last 5 games of the season at 5-0 or 4-1 and fool me that they're better than they are. Just like some previous seasons.

Be 100% homer until the season's done, and then add a decent percentage of cynic heading into the playoffs. That's probably the safest bet for total enjoyment.

Probably should do. These next 2 games will tell me just how much I should enjoy this season.

Cassel is pretty lousy, too. Outside of his 4 TD game vs. that putrid Indy team, he's at 5 TDs vs 9 INTs.

Eli, Vick and Fitz are the only decent guys left.

We're not talking Manning, Brees, Rodgers here. I'm not going to get my hopes up, but we at least having a tiny chance of stopping those guys if they play well.

It's pretty hard to get third down stops if you give up a ton of passing yards. This defense isn't winning the Patriots a Super Bowl anytime soon with that formula.

If I was 100 % homer I wouldn't have picked Pittsburgh to win last week by three...and, IF the Pats make the playoffs I WILL be cynical, just off recent early exits.

I think this "homer" aspersion is misplaced...I'm a F-A-N...short for guess what...FANATIC...a N.E. Patriots fan...I HAVE and WILL CONTINUE to watch my favorite football team play as long as I draw breath...and if they win it all, THAT'S pure gravy...and if they stumble and go through a down period,I will probably INCREASE my fandom to a feverish pitch.

If this offends any so called Patriot "fans" that I and others of my persuasion refuse to b!tch and moan because the team does not go 16-0 every season and run unscathed through the playoffs, all I can say is...sorry, can't help ya'.

Homers are different than fans. Through it all, we're all fans here. Fans root for their team. Homers don't find any fault in their team whatsoever and flip out when a few get pointed out.

There was no homer aspersion. The advice was genuine and well intentioned, and was aimed specifically at PJ because of the laid back kind of poster that he is.

You are correct in your assessment, no doubt. But there should also be a certain amount of balance in those that criticize, as it seems an annual playoff berth would warrant that respect.

I have always been cautiously optimistic, and look at life through the eyes of a realist. If I had to choose one side or the other, I would certainly lean towards homer, but this week's nonsense has pushed me a little farther over towards that label.

It's just too early in what appears to be yet another playoff competitive performance to get my panties in a bunch over the release of Leigh freaking Bodden, and some other scrub/worn out cuts. The only change I'd have made personally is not doing it all at once, but then again, I don't have the championship caliber pedigree that Belichick has earned.

If the new secondary doesn't get the job done, so be it. The last one wasn't either, not even close. Yet it seems that many have since forgotten that fact. At least Belichick had the balls to go out and try to make a change. How it compares in actual points allowed (the important stat), and wins for the team remains to be seen. The strength of this team will always be the ability to put up big offensive numbers, and we certainly have that capability.
